Location

History
The ___ are a pride that was founded many years ago but when an earthquake devastated their homeland they were forced to move and regroup. Many were lost in the move, either by displacement or death but the few that made it through the harsh climate found a utopia of sorts. Or so they thought. The land was surrounded by lush trees, a large crystal lake was in its center and a jagged mountain with many caves set within it laid just on the other side. Their previous land had been filled with sand and every day the hunt for water was a struggle. This new land, well they wanted for nothing. The elderly leader had been lost during the move and her granddaughter was the one who received the title Queen after her. It was this new leader that decided that they needed to change their ways to reflect this new start they had been given. Many others disagreed with this however and after many years of fighting the pride was split in a way to make peace between those that wanted a fresh start and those that wanted to hoped to keep the old ways. Those wishing to stick to the old ways slept near the water in the sands which reminded them of home, those that wanted a fresh start moved into the mountain caves and those that couldn't decide moved into the forest. Each area has an adviser that reports to the Queen who is the great-grand daughter of the leader since the earthquake.

Landscape
While the pride is split in three, for the most part, they all share the fruits of the land. The trees are large, filled with fruit or sap and they house some of the pride inhabitants, those that didn't want to live in the mountain. These tree dwellers have noted areas where the trees drop off onto a cliff on one side and then the path which they took a few years ago.

The mountain is jagged enough that many are able to climb higher up the mountain where a plateau is. This is where the Queen of the pride resides with her mate and children. The caves are fairly large and can accommodate large family units if necessary.

The lake and the sandy area surrounding it is where the pride gathers for meetings when the Queen calls for it. Otherwise it is where those following the old ways reside and who make holes in the sand for their beds.

Beliefs

Coloration
There is no rule on coloration. The old members typically have sandy/dark colors but there are a few mixed in who could be bright pink.

Mating
While individuals may have their own opinion of homosexuality the pride as a whole accepts it and sees nothing wrong with it. In the old land it was hard to survive thus unfruitful mateships were uncommon or they were expected to breed before committing to a life mate of the same gender. This was not and is still not a rule.

Poly relationships are allowed and mostly encouraged. Females are usually those that are the engage in poly relationships because the pride as a whole views large families as a sign of success. Females are the only ones who can have babies, therefore they can choose to mate as many times as they want.

If you do not agree with homosexual or poly relationships you do not have to engage in it. However you MUST be respectful to others who do and those that aren't will be encouraged to leave the pride. -- Lets just be honest, what goes on with others doesn't concern you and who they choose to love is between them.

Naming
The pride follows the naming themes of Greek and Arabic and contain variations of the two when needed. There is no limit on length but even then they typically go by nicknames which can be anything. This does not apply to new members/some customs. This is a new pride and most of us don't have any with names like this.

Hybrids
Hybrids are not uncommon considering lions engaging in homosexual relations were/are encouraged to breed before mating. While they aren't treated poorly there may be some in the pride who look down on them on occasion.

Non-lions
Everyone is accepted here. There is a higher lion population here but the pride believes that everyone has to work together to survive so, once again, everyone is needed for that to happen. (Imagine NPC lions filling the pride).

Bad Omens
Unfertile females are one of the worst things that could happen to the pride. Hybrids primarily fall into this. It is important to note that the pride is beginning to realize that hybrids are typically unfertile and this will become more prevalent in the future. As the the outcome, it remains to be seen.

No rain is also ranked highly on their list considering water is a prized possession to them. Now that they are in these new lands which has a lake and therefore a surplus of water they are less weary of it not raining for months on end. When the water level drops however, panic will ensue.

Queen
She is the "alpha" and main leader of the pride. While the advisers have some pull she is the final decision maker in everything. Since she is of the old blood and from a long line of it, there is a high regard held for her by all the factions.

Consort
This is the main mate to the queen should she choose to mate with others. He is the second in command after her and helps with keeping the guard in check.

___ Adviser
The adviser and semi-leader to the tree dwellers. They maintain order, enforce the new ways and oversee/report happenings to the Queen.

The adviser and semi-leader to the sand dwellers. They maintain order, enforce the old ways and report/oversee happening to the Queen.

Nannies
Typically male members of the pride, they take care of and teach the youngest members while their parents are off seeing to their duties.

Agonos
This is a non-fertile hybrid position only. Any hybrid, fertile or not will be referred to as this until they prove to be fertile.

Guards
Protectors of the pride who ensure the safety and stability of all members. They work in all sections of the pride as well.

Queen Spies
Queen spies are well, spies who work directly under the queen. They are well hidden/under cover in their various factions and will report to her as needed.

Sun Brothers
They are the worshipers of the sun. Much like priests, this section prays to the sun for all of the growth, strength, vitality that flourishes within the pride. This is a male only position.

Moon Sisters
They are the worshipers of the moon. Again, like priestesses this section prays to the moon for all the births, fertility, and life that occurs within the pride. This is a female only position.

Healers
The healers of the pride heal the wounded, cure the sick and assist with births within the pride.

These are the members of the pride that look after the water of the pride, ensure its being used properly, etc.

Journeyman
This position is held by all adolescents of the pride. They are expected to find a mentor and train under them in their given profession. **Mentor is not necessary in RP and can be a NPC

Paidi
These are the cubs of the pride and their job is to be happy and benevolent to their elders. Not much is expected of them.
