Chimvi felt like he was dying. He ached and his head throbbed with what he knew was a fever. He was out amongst the herb gardens, hunting for the herbs that he needed to get in order to make his medicine. He would need a double-strength dose today, he mused, as his vision became blurry. He groaned. He could have sworn his medicine usually lasted longer than this, he mused, as he was forced to sit amongst the herbs, trying to stop the world from spinning.

Was it becoming less effective on him? That wasn't good. It was the only thing keeping him alive, and if it failed...well he wasn't sure how long he would last without the medicine.

He scowled, and forced himself up onto his paws.

"Come on, Metea!" Hatua groaned, waiting for his sister to hurry up. "You said you'd help me pick herbs. I will never learn to be an apothecary if I don't practice getting herbs!" He huffed. He knew his sister had to check on the cubs of the pride, but still, why was she taking so long.

They weren't that far from the herb gardens, but he was still impatient to get there.

Metea let out a groan, her brother was more impatient than the majority of the cubs she looked out for. She strolled back towards her brother, at this point she was taking her time on purpose. All the cubs were busy with their various activities and she now had a bit of free time.

"Okay okay Hatua." she said as she came up beside her brother as they headed straight towards the herb garden. She walked forwards for a little while without saying a word to her brother, it wasn't that she didn't want to talk to him she just found herself lost in her own thoughts.

As the herb garden came into sight she froze. She hadn't seen Chimvi since she had lectured him and letting someone care for him. She had decided after that day to give him a bit of space to think over what she had said but now here he was in her face, a small part of her couldn't help but believe that it was fate. As she gazed at the male that she knew she was falling for an idea passed through her head, a sly smile playing on her lips. She knew something she could do that would help Chimvi and perhaps let him get some of the rest he so desperately needed and her brother could get the training he so desperately sought.

Hatua didn't care that his sister was silent. To be honest, he just needed an extra set of paws to help him collect the herbs. It wasn't that he disliked his sister - he loved all of his family dearly, but he was a very driven individual. He wanted to be an apothecary. That was what was the most important thing to him at that very moment. After all; life was short. He had to be the best as soon as he could be.

He didn't really notice that his sister was caught up in her own thoughts, but he did notice when she froze. "What's wrong?" He asked, with a frown.

Chimvi heard the others approaching but he didn't pay them much attention, his gaze focused on the herbs and finding the ones he sought. He moved slower than normal, his legs stiff with pain and his face drawn in exhaustion. It was only when a familiar scent crossed his nose, overpowering the scent of the herbs that surrounded him.

His cloudy blue eyes rose from the herbs, looking directly at Metea. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her, but he blamed the illness for that immediately. It was simply his heart giving up, like the rest of his body. Nothing to do with the female before him. It was only then that he noticed the male that stood close to Metea. His gaze darkened.

It looked like she had taken his advice. Given up on him. Found someone closer to her age. The male didn't even look sick. Chimvi scowled, and returned his gaze to the herbs.

When the icy blue eyes fell on her Metea all but forgot that her brother was there, for that moment it was only she and Chimvi in the entire world. Then just as quickly his eyes fell away and back to the ground. She cringed, she had hoped that giving Chimvi the space he needed would help him realize that having someone with him, to help him, to care for him would be good thing.

She blinked a few times and turned her eyes towards her brother. She cleared her throat, "Nothing, nothing is wrong." she said trying to blink away the tears that threatened to spill.

"Let's go get your herbs." she said. She didn't really want to enter the herb garden anymore she wanted to go back to her den where she could shed her tears in private but she knew there would be no escaping her promise to her brother. She just hoped that her brother wouldn't try talking to Chimvi, and that they could get out of here quickly.

Velvie:
Hatua, ever the oblivious teenage male, didn't notice his sister's upset nor did he notice the awkward tension between the two at a distance. Hearing his sister encourage him to go and get his herbs, he made his way towards the herb garden. He watched the older male as he sure-footedly picked through the garden, taking the leaves of some, digging the roots of others. He was so confident. That's what he wanted to be someday.
"You seem to know your herbs!" He said cheerfully to the male.

Chimvi blinked, surprised at the attempted conversation from the male. He was also struggling to see clearly. His vision was awfully blurry today, he mused to himself, almost deliriously. "I do," he said, his voice a low gruff sound. "It is my job."

Hatua perked up. "Are you an Apothecary?"

Chimvi scowled. Talking was a bit too hard for him right now, but the male that Metea had chosen seemed to be just as cheerful and chatty as she was. Disgusting. "Healer," he said, forcing out the word, though it was clear to most that the effort pained him.

nessiaing:
Metea followd Hatua quietly into the garden, she tried to keep herself from looking at Chimvi but every so often her eyes would drift up to the lightly coloured male she could’t stop thinking of.

Her worst dreams came true when her brother tried to strike up a conversation with the other male. “Hatua shhh I am sure he doesn’t want to speak to you.” Metea chastised her brother. She wanted to hurry this along and get out of her. Chimvi hadn’t even greeted her, he pretended as if he didn’t even know her, she was getting the message loud and clear.

Velvie:

Hatua was surprised at his sister's words, and glanced towards her. He frowned, obviously a bit insulted that anyone would not want to talk to him, why wouldn't they? He was lovely.

Chimvi, however, took her words in another way and scowled. "Trying to keep us seperate?" He said with a low growl. "Moved on so quickly it seems." He tried to raise himself to his paws, in an effort to move away but he stumbled, his vision growing even more blurry. "Ugh," he groaned, stumbling back into a sitting position.

Hatua's eyes went wide. "Are you ok Mister?" He asked, rushing to try and hold Chimvi up, lest he fall over completely.

"Go away," he hissed, but found himself wobbling.

nessiaing:

At Chimvi’s words Metea was lost, she didn’t know what to say. What did he mean move on, why would she keep them separate. She was just doing what she had thought Chimvi would want, heck even she didn’t have the patience for him and she cared for cubs and was in good health.

Then it finally all clicked, but no it couldn’t possibly be. “You think… you think… ewww he’s my brother.” Metea finally yelled. Then burst into laughter the whole situation was just beyond ridiculous. Here was the male who she was falling in love with and he was thinking that she was romantically involved with her brother!

Metea moved towards Chimvi when he fell to the a seated position. This wasn’t good she had upset him and now he was feeling worse. It was then that it dawned on her, he was upset by the thought of her being with someone else. Which meant he cared! He cared for her. Metea swooned just a little at the thought.

Velvie:

Hatua was beyond confused. What on earth were they talking about? He shook his head in bemusement and tried once again to get the male to lean on him. "You need to rest for a moment, gather your strength. Metea, let him lean on you. I'll grab you some herbs, try and settle the dizzness," he said quickly, and stared at Metea expectantly.

Chimvi wanted to refuse but he was struggling to understand what was happening. This male...was Metea's brother? He supposed he had never asked her about her family life, so it was likely that she had a brother...they did look fairly similiar, he mused to himself, though at the moment he saw two of both of them, as his vision became doubled. "I am going to lay down," he said, mostly to himself, as he lowered himself to lay on his stomach. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to stop the world spinning

nessiaing:

Metea moved towards him and once Chimvi’s head was down she rubbed his back whispering calmly in his ear. Her stomach was doing flips and she was worried that he wasn’t going to be okay this time. The terrible thought that she might loose him before they ever even had a real relationship was daunting and upset her to no end.

“My brother, he is a good Apothecary even if he is clueless in everything else. He will help you.” she whispered to Chimvi.

“Hurry Hatua.” she called to her brother. Her brow was knit with worry, why couldn’t Chimvi listen to her, why didn’t he let people help him. The male was so beyond frustrating she didn’t know what to do with herself.

Velvie:

Hatua raced off when he saw that Metea was on the job of looking after the male for now. He nosed through the herbs, trying to recognise the certain scent that he was looking for. He could never remember what it looked like, but he knew the smell of it. It also tasted disgusting but he figured the healer male would know that already. This was his first patient! He was excited, though even in his clueless state he knew that there was something happening behind the scenes. Metea looked worried. Like, really worried. Not just like she would if it was a stranger. Did they know each other?

Chimvi would die before admitting that Metea's touch was actually quite comforting...but considering his current state, he might actually die before he could admit that. He laughed at his dark joke, but the bark of laughter came out as a rough cough. Damn it. The cough was coming back as well. He had almost cured that, but since his medication was stopping working, everything was just getting worse.

Hatua raced back to the duo, the herbs clutched in his mouth. He dropped them by the male and nudged them over. "Chew, dont' swallow," he instructed, watching anxiously.

Chimvi cracked one eye, glancing at the herbs before him, making sure the youth had actually gotten the correct herbsm before he raised his head just enough to gather them into his mouth. He chewed slowly, trying to grind out all of the oils in them as he did. It would take a while for the herbs to kick in, but he could feel his dizziness easing. Slowly. He sighed, a great deal of relief. At least the herbs were helping. Maybe he just needed to adjust his dosage. His illness was not beyond the help of medicine. Yet.

nessiaing:

Metea let a sigh of relief pass through her lips as Chimvi chewed on his herbs. She could see a physical response it was working. “Hate I am going to help Chimvi back to his den. Can you gather up a double supply of herbs, the ones for yourself that you came for today and then collect up what Chimvi had here and get him some extra for himself and bring it all back to his den.” Metea barked out orders with a calm and authoritative voice.

She turned to Chimvi, “Come on now take it easy.” she said as she pulled him up to his feat. “I am taking you home, and I will not hear any of your disagreeing. I gave you time to figure this out on your own and you are too damn stubborn.” she told him as she began to guide him back towards his den.

“Also from now on Hatua will gather your herbs for you. He can be annoying but he is a good apothecary and he needs someone to train him. You can teach him and he will do your physical labour.” she volunteered her brother for service, knowing that he would actually love to learn from the older lion.

When they reached Chimvi’s den Metea slowed and guided Chimvi in. “You rest I will be here when you wake.” she told him kindly. She boldly gave him a kiss on the cheek before she made her exit. Assuming he was feeling better when they woke up they were going to have a serious chat. Metea wasn’t going to wait around till it was too late.

Hatua was very glad when Metea took over. She seemed to know what to do and he really, really didn't. He nodded quickly, racing off to the garden and leaving the duo in peace. He would ask her about the male later, but for now they had more serious things to do. Like making sure the male didn't die.

Chimvi wanted to protest, but although the herbs were helping, he still felt as weak as a cub, so he allowed Metea to boss him around silently. It took them a while to reach his den, but when he saw it coming into view, he felt physically relieved. He wouldn't be able to complete his rounds today, and he felt for the patients he might miss, but he needed to look after himself today.

He felt barely conscious when he felt Metea press a kiss on his cheek, and for a moment, convinced himself he dreamt it, but even as he dozed in and out of consciousness - waking briefly to chew some of the herbs that Hatua had brought to his den later - he replayed the kiss over and over again, finding a strange comfort in the persistence of the small, mouthy female.
