Dione - UncertHer brother's duel had gone as expected. Based on his ridiculous temper and general failure to understand the finer aspects of strategy, he had fought and drawn against Vali. Over all, she wasn't surprised by this outcome, if anything, she would have been more surprised if he had won outright. The pride was supposed to be worthy of respect after all, and if they were easily defeated by a reckless child then... well, she wasn't so sure.
Fortunately, Vali had held his own and thus she was satisfied.
Now it was her turn, and with a deep breath she regarded the pale lion who was to be her opponent. He didn't seem like someone who would be impossible, but she had to consider her approach carefully given his size. Thus her initial attack was cautious and lacking in her usual speed as she leapt up high and plunged towards him.

The lioness before him was calm and reasoned from the little he had seen. But nothing of what he had seen indicated her skill. Her first attack was slow, cautious, and pathetically easy to read. A simple sidestep from her leap kept him out of harms way, and just before she was able to recover her balance, the Reaver sent a powerful blow of his own towards her with one large paw. The moment after he attacked, Ensis wondered idly if perhaps he'd used too much force. But he wasn't going to pull the blow. Even if it was stronger than he'd meant, it wouldn't be lethal.

Hmph. So he was that sort...
He fought like her brother and now sooner had she missed and his paw swung towards her than she braced herself. Digging her hindpaws into the earth beneath her, she pushed herself upwards and quite literally caught his in her forepaws. It may have bumped against her chest, but she had pushed herself forward by a sufficient amount to lessen the blow and she couldn't help but smirk at that. After all, the lioness had managed to disable one of his paws and that left the ball rather in her court.
However, as it stood, she needed to do something to distract him while she released her grasp. The way she was stood now meant that she wasn't capable of making a sufficiently hardy assault. Thus, she swept her tail from side to side, gaining rapid momentum and tried to sweep a large amount of dust and dirt towards his face!

His estimation of her ability rose as she caught his paw. It was enough warning for him to unsheathe his claws there in an attempt to scratch her before her retaliation began.
He wasn't expecting the dirt. That was good.
Unfortunately, he was now almost blind. The white lion stood and brought his paw to his face, trying to brush the debris away without compromising any of his other senses which were now trying to detect the lioness' location.

It was enough - now she had to go on the assault!
She pulled her paws away quickly and hopped back, a split second pause to angle herself and she pounced once more. Another stagger tactic of course, just like her father had taught her. He wasn't able to see, now she had to make sure he couldn't move. Well, either that or she had to ensure that he was so disorientated he couldn't stop her blows. Thus, with her paws up, she resembled something akin to a boxer as she took aim and attempted to swipe at his eyes and nose.
Hopefully she'd hit him... she'd heard a story about how a lioness had once kicked her father's nose so hard it had brought tears to his eyes... She was aiming for a repeat performance of that!

Psh, she was so noisy, he didn't need to be able to see to hear her! And he could practically feel how she was barely balanced. Instead of trying to block her attack, or retaliated, Ensis simply stepped backward, finishing clearing his eyes of the dirt she'd thrown at him.
He'd decide whether or not he'd truly attack next after he saw her response to his disinclination.

Urgh, she missed!
She came down to the ground with a rather loud and undignified 'thump', her nose wrinkling in distaste. Okay, so clearly the lioness who had smacked her father had been quicker, but rather than ponder over said lioness's battle strategy, she simply moved on with her own. Without a moment's hesitation she spun round, whip her tail out to throw yet more dust at his eyes, and followed it up immediately by bucking.
Yes, she bucked... Like a gazelle.
She had aimed both hindlegs squarely at his face and they would be slamming into his face (hopefully), if he didn't manage to see them through all the dirt.

Unfortunately for the lioness, Ensis was able to see her new attack coming, though it was also unexpected. Whatever experience she had, she certainly wasn't afraid to try crazy things in order to win!
He managed to move himself in such a way that the blow landed on his neck and back - strong, yes, but not as disabling as a hit to the head would have been.
As she moved, he reached out a paw again to swipe at her, but, it being a feint, was meant to fall short of hitting his opponent.

The feint failed , she had already decided on how she would end this. She was too small to have the same level of endurance he had, so she had to end this on her terms. That meant hard, and that meant fast; thus, with a snarl she swept back round, electing to take the swipe of the paws (which nicked her ears) in order to get a solid aim for his throat.
Oh she wasn't going to kill him, she was fairly certain that would guarantee she'd be ill received. But if she could at least reach his throat and clap her teeth close to it, then surely he would concede! She wasn't so prideful as to expect that he would bow to her, but if the pride were truly honourable then she was certain they would at least concede that she had bested him this time.
...Though perhaps it wouldn't be so easy in the future once he had seen her methods once.

The lioness, he decided, was insane. But if she was willing to do stupid things for the sake of victory, including taking a glancing blow that should have missed entirely, then he was inclined to be just as obtuse in response.
But he'd seen enough. He didn't need to attack further. Instead, Ensis raised a foreleg and allowed his opponent's jaws to close upon it. A few extra scars in such a place weren't worth worrying about.
"Good," he told her. "No member of this pride would ever give up, though few would take such ridiculous risks." He paused, considering. "Perhaps you might train with some of the older Reavers and Captains, learn when a stupid move is not so stupid after all, and when it is a waste of energy."
"But for now, come. Welcome."

Unlike Tethys the lioness wasn't inclined to take offence at his comments. While she might disagree with him when he believed a move was stupid, it had served it's purpose and she had won. Her father had taught her well enough and she knew her limits. Perhaps she would seek out some additional schooling, but she doubted that it would ever truly change her style. Frankly, if anyone needed additional schooling it was her brother!
Nevertheless, she backed away from the lion as he conceded and recognised her abilities. She afforded him a bow of her head, a measure of respect in her line, and then hazarded a rare smile. She was satisfied that she and her brother had made the right choice to come here. The weaker prides and their criticisms were something to consider to a degree, but both Reavers had proven that there was a great deal of misconception to be had.
"I will take your observations in to account," she replied. "And thank you." she added.
