Bastion was displeased at the challenges he'd faced earlier. He took the chance to visit the human world and cause some mischief, in order to release some of his tension - besides, he'd enjoyed trick or treating in halloween so much, that he was slightly looking forward to doing it again, in the human world.

But his costume, the same egyptian death god getup he'd managed, did not seem to be going over well with the humans. Perhaps he simply fit the role a little too well, or perhaps he was just a little too big to be doing trick or treating in the first place.

Nonetheless, he tried his best to not look threatening, and even managed a quaint smile whenever a parent or guardian eyed him warily. At least he wasn't a giant - he could just imagine what some of the other horsemen were getting in terms of reactions, with how big they were! Bastion in comparison was a runt, a safe alternative. The humans should have counted themselves lucky to bump into him, instead of one of his larger, more menacing brothers and sisters.

For more reasons than one.

Still, perhaps a more approachable outfit would have been in better taste.

3-5: Your costume is pretty unsettling. You'd probably make a few people uncomfortable by simply existing. (1d10)

He knew that he had two jobs to do that night. The first, and more enjoyable one, would be to try and get candy from the humans who seem happy to share with anyone that comes to their doorstep. He planned to partake in that activity greatly, once he'd managed to get his first task done.

Unfortunately, his first task was one he loathed, because it meant scaring a little child. She was alone, and there was no choice but to walk up to her and try and get her to fear him. For once, he was glad he'd worn the unnerving costume - it would serve him well for this distasteful task.

He did not like the human children. He did not enjoy the way they smelled or how loud they were. He did not enjoy anything about them, but he did understand that they were children, and as such, did not deserve to be treated this way. So, with a heavy heart, he snuck up on the little abandoned girl and slunk into the shadows.

8: A small, adorably costumed child has been briefly left unattended. They are already whimpering when you find them. (HP: 5)

The child was completely, and utterly alone. At some point it must have lost track of it's guardian, or vice versa. Now, she stood at the edge of the alley, looking down into the dark night and sniffling with loneliness. She knew there was danger coming for her - he could see the way she tensed and looked around, like a deer with a sense for trouble.

But she couldn't see him.

He was behind the tree she rested on, slithering in the shadow. His face was grim with regret, and unable to feel truly comfortable with the task he was about to perform. Still, he was a horseman, and he respected his position - however lowly it was.

He popped out from behind the tree and screamed a loud BOO at her from behind. It was crude and rudementary, but it would work. She screamed so loudly his ears would ring for a few minutes afterward. She'd dropped her bag of candy, and ran into the street away from him. Bastion felt absolutely shameful, until she realized that she was running into the arms of her lost guardian - and his scaring tactic had inadvertently reunited the two.

He smiled, and watched from the shadows as she flung herself into her guardian's arms, and wailed against the comfort of his shoulder. His relief was palpable even from where Bastion stood, and when he carried her forward to try and find her bag of candy, Bastion quickly slipped away.

That was a lovely silver lining.
