Leev didn't know what she was DOING in this place. A small bit of curiosity had urged her down to this lovely cornfield. It wasn't even a proper field. It was a maze. Leev wasn't sure if she actually wanted to try it. But someone had mentioned prizes and well, she did like having goals.

It wasn't like she really had much more to do at that moment, anyway. A small detour couldn't hurt.

She went left.

She hadn't gone more than a few dozen steps when she heard a strange moaning sound. It was a little unsettling, only because she had not expected there to be anyone in any actual pain or danger here. The decorations had been lacking, after all. It was just a silly maze with silly prizes.

Though, the moan was a little more sad than in pain, she supposed. Leev wasn't too well antiquated with sadness, so she wasn't sure. (At least that was what she told herself.)

Blinking slowly at the corn walls around her, Leev pressed on, moving forward.

She could still the hear the moaning. Ah, yes. Definitely more sadness than pain. Grief was in that voice, if she had to put a label on it.

Unfortunately, it seemed to be getting louder with every step she took. She didn't really want to stumble across some sad sod of a soul crying in the path because they had lost their way. She didn't want to have to deal with helping anyone in this maze. She was here to kill time and have a relaxing moment (and maybe win something- there was a prize right?).

The path continued on, straight and true, and the crying grew louder. Leev was beginning to consider turning back when one wall opened up enough to show an alcove- where a crying boil sat. The log he was perched upon was old and rotting, which made Leev wonder if they had built the maze around it. Interesting.

The boil was far less interesting. He was a blubbering mess. Leev raised one eyebrow in judgment and then continued on her way, moving forward.

Really, was it not embarrassing to be all sad and crying in public? Honestly. Leev had no time for such antics, and she was more than happy to leave the boil to wallow in whatever grief he was wallowing in.

She was a little surprised when the wailing seemed to stop. Had her gaze caused him to realize his public spectacle? If it had, then good. If not...well, it was possible the sound of water was drowning out the sobs (which Leev was fine with).

Continuing on, and making no turns really, Leev soon found herself staring at a quaint little pond. A pond, a sword, and a cup. Oh, and a sign with instructions.

Leev stood staring at this sight for quite some time. What should she do? Did she really want to drink this silly water? She highly doubted it was deadly, since this was a friendly maze. But surely it didn't taste very good.

And the sword. What should she do about that? Why was it sitting there...when it looked like it's home was in the pond?

Leev found herself shaking her head. Silly students, probably, not knowing the proper care of weapons. If the sword had a home it should be in it's home, not sitting around all willy-nilly.

Still shaking her head, Leev moved to place the sword into it's stand in the pond. She could think about drinking after that.

In the end, she didn't have to drink the probably gross water. For a wind began to blow and a path opened up right before her.

So the sign had been a lie.... Leev found herself doubting the safety of this maze. The pond could have been poisoned after all. Or perhaps there was a puzzle here she was missing out on.

With shrug, Leev left the pond behind to continue down this new path.

She had to admit...this maze was interesting. She was kind of enjoying it.

At least until she found herself with a new choice. Two gates. Which one should she take?

The new one was strong and pretty, the old was all but crumbling and looked out of use. Leev examined each as much as she could, as well as the ground before them and the walls, too. Was there some clue? Some hint about which way to go? No...not that she could see.

So, in the end, Leev went with the gate that had called to her the most from the first moment she looked upon them.

The old gate.

The gate was old and almost stuck. She had to put her shoulder and her weight into moving it, but it DID move. It moved and Leev found herself on another path.

A path that led straight too.....

Leev's face held nothing but disgust at what she saw. A gnome. On a toilet. Even if it was simply a convenient seat, Leev was not pleased to see a gnome. Especially one that spoke to her and asked her riddles.

Riddles she had no idea about how to answer.

"I don't know, and I don't care." Leev looked away from the little thing and moved to continue onward.

The gnome seemed angered by this, and the little thing jumped up to chase her. Not wanting any part of this nonsense, Leev turned to run away.

If anyone asked she would have said the wall appeared from out of nowhere.

She didn't even know where the sap and pine came from. She didn't care. It was everywhere, and while she didn't find the smell unpleasant in small quantities it was ALL OVER and quite strong.

She was going to need a bath, now. A long bath. A hot bath. A scented bath.

The sap was going to take ages to get out of her hair, wasn't it? And her furs!! Her lovely clothes.

Leev had half a mind to go back into the maze and murder that little gnome, but she knew better. The best thing, the proper thing, would be to go home and clean up.

She'd just be grumpy about it for a while. Stupid maze.
