[It Begins]

When Callista heard that there was a professor bringing ghouls to the human world, she wasn't sure why she was drawn by the idea. Humans were strange any day, but now she would be seeing them on one of their holidays acting even more strange? Callie wanted to know how it was possible to be even more strange than they already were.

She met the professor at the allotted day and time to learn of their task. There was an awful amount of paperwork, but Callie didn't mind - she spent so much time doing homework and studying that it browsed through and signed pretty quickly. Hopefully, Callie hadn't missed any important details.

Callie paid close attention to the professor as they were told what the point of this trip was. Something called 'superstitions'? "Isn't that what our world is to them...?" She tried not to think too much about it and keep an open mind to what she'd see and learn today. "So figure out the causes of these 'superstitions'. Got it."

"Being invisible in this would be a lot easier than trying to fit in..." Callie twitched her ears a bit - those were never easy to hide.

[First Choice - Going into a Home]

Callie was patient and quiet as they made their way to the human world. Once there, she looked around at the humans wandering around outside. While in her animal form, Callie definitely enjoyed the outdoors. She was able to hide and wander to where others could not see her, but in this case, she couldn't transform.

Invisible or not, she didn't want to be stepped on. Plus, how could she take notes when she would have no thumbs?

Ultimately, Callie decided on wandering into one of the human homes. It was warmer inside anyways.

[Roll 1 - 8: There's a strangely lettered and numbered board that the humans are sitting around. You decide to move the little plug around on them, and spell out fun words.]

As Callie went into the house, she couldn't help but notice people in the first room. There were 5 of them, around their mid to late teens, sitting around a table with a board on it. Three of them had their hands on a small triangular piece that was on the board. The board had letters and numbers on them.

"Odd..." Callie stepped closer when one of them spoke up, asking if there were any 'spirits' nearby this night that they could communicate with. "Why would they want that?"

For fun, Callie hovered over them and used one of her hands to move the small plug on the board towards the 'yes' on it. She was there, and kind of counted as a spirit, right? The movement on the board caused the people to gasp and get some of them excited. Some of the others thought that they best stop meddling with the 'Ouija board', they called it.

Indubitably, those words were ignored. The next question the group asked was if there was anything the spirit wanted to tell them. Jokingly, Callie moved the plug to 'D' - 'I' - 'E'. Almost immediately, some of them took off for the door; others went to other parts of the house. "Well, that was interesting. Non one's around for me to tell them I was joking," Callie thought with a frown.

[Roll 2 - 4: It seems people in costume are given free candy! You consider trying to get free candy, but you're a little too scared of getting in trouble to do it. Or perhaps you're just too lazy.]

Callie sighed as she stood there as people ran off in different directions. She waited for someone to come back, but apparently her prank was... not well received. She wanted to spell out 'J' - 'K' but without anyone to see it... There really was no point. Plus, with it moving on its own... might freak them out more.

She was standing there alone for a while until the house's doorbell rang. Someone, whom looked like an adult human, came with a bucket of candy and opened the door. Young humans stood there dressed up and hollered 'trick-or-treat' to the adult. Each got a bit of candy for just dressing up and knocking on the door?

Once the candy was passed out, the adult closed the door and walked away with the candy bowl. Callie was tempted to take one to nibble on... But she didn't think they needed more scaring for her that day. Floating candy would be kind of odd, even if it was going into her mouth...

[Roll 3 - 9: Someone tries to talk to you. They mention something about being born in Halloween…or was it on halloween? Either way, you panic and leave before the conversation gets too deep.]

A pang of hunger, or gluttony, ran through Callie as the human passed by with the bucket of candy. She made a mental note to snack on some carrots when she got home -- Those were always better than candy.

To bring her mind off of candy, Callie walked to another room which seemed to be the dining room. It didn't help to see a human sitting there with some food. They seemed to be intoxicated with something and seemed a bit off. What surprised Callie the most was that the human looked up and looked directly at her. They were babbling about something, but all Callie could hear was something about 'Halloween'.

Callie was afraid that she really had been spotted, so she quickly went to the next room. She looked back at the other room and the eyes were no longer staring at her. Maybe it was just a figment of her imagination? She was still invisible right?! "Maybe I should get out of here soon..."

[Roll 4 - 5: It's really quiet in this house all of a sudden. You can hear the floorboards creak under your feet…]

The nagual took a deep breath as the prying eyes were no longer on her. It took her a few seconds to calm down, and when she did, Callie noticed she was in a room that seemed to be some sort of small library. Her interest was piqued and the bookworm was ready to dive in and read more about what the humans would read.

Callie was staring and reading some of the titles of the books when she heard the floorboards creek. The humans in the house were elsewhere, and she could not see anything or anyone. The floorboards creaked again as she took a step. She did notice, however, that it wasn't all floorboards, but specific ones. Maybe the humans just needed someone to fix it up.

"Pretty sure the humans didn't like the extra noise..."

Satisfied with what she saw, Callie decided to head back to the school and head for the library. There was no more research needed, but at least she'd have somewhere quiet to write her report.

The report was left in the office of Professor Winter.
