The early morning sun was shining brightly. Esasile waited underneath a small tree, tail curled around her paws elegantly. She huffed, paws itching to begin her task for the day. The need to hunt was strong in her bones, and the older female realized with some disdain that it had been far too long since her claws had met a prey's hide. Not to mention the meat was sorely needed. With all the new cubs running about, the number of hungry mouths requiring a meal had nearly doubled. The dry season was looming over the horizon, threatening empty bellies and parched throats. In order to make sure as many cubs made it to adulthood as possible, they would need to be fed well while the prey was still running.

In addition to hunting, Esasile was also helping some Busisa learn the lay of the pride's lands. It was vital that they weren't going to get themselves lost and end up back in the rogue lands. If they were going to be true sisters, they would need to be able to navigate their way across the savanna.

---

Beside Esasile, one of the Busisa waited anxiously. Laini was fairly new, only having been in the pride for two or three weeks. She hardly knew any of her fellow pride members. Everyone seemed so busy, what with their paws full of tiny little cubs. Still, Laini was eager to prove that she was useful to her new home. And hopefully she would be able to make a friend or two while she was at it. At the very least, it would be good to learn more names. She hated not knowing what to call others as they passed by.

---

In the tree above the two lions sat a rather bored vulture. Thola had been nesting near the pride for some time now, lurking above their gatherings, helping scout every now and then, but no lions had garnered her interest enough to bond with. And now there were tiny little felines running around, teeth and claws threatening her carefully groomed feathers. So she had agreed to help out with the morning's hunting party in order to gain both a meal and a proper excuse for avoiding the rest of the pride.

Hey guys, here is our big hunting RP for the gals! The point of the day's excursion is to hunt, but also to show the Busisa, Laini, Nomvula, and Safura, around the pride's lands.

My vulture Thola will also be in and out, helping scout for prey.

If you guys want to do a post order, we can. If not, then just post whenever. heart

Zakiya walked with a spring in her step as she approached the other lionesses that morning.

It was already beautiful out and a great day to go hunting. The young lioness had been enjoying all of the excitement over the new life that was present in the pride. It made her feel wonderful seeing all of the mothers with their young cubs.

It meant that the pride was alive and thriving. It meant a future for everyone.

"Good morning everyone!," Zakiya said enthusiastically.

User ImageEsasile nodded to her pride sister. "Zakiya. You arrive promptly." The said approvingly. If there was one thing that the older lioness valued, it was punctuality. Of course, there were many traits that Esasile valued, such as respect, tradition, proper pelt colour...but punctuality was still high on the list.

And it was, of course, a relief to not have to deal with three Busisa on her own. Not that Esasile disapproved of the new pride members. Their knowledge and skills from the outside world were of a great asset to the pride, and their blood kept the pride's lineage's strong and healthy. But Esasile was not sure of the new females' hunting skills. Two of them, at least, were nearly brand new to the pride. A proven hunter like Zakiya helped to put her mind at ease for the day. "Well, go on then. Introduce yourself, girl." Esasile prompted the female beside her.

Laini perked up with a fluster, suddenly scrambling to remember her own name. "Oh, yes, right. I am Laini. A pleasure to meet you." The lioness said hurriedly. She had been ever so grateful to be invited along on the hunt, but to be honest the pale female intimidated her with her blunt tone and sharp words. She was very much relieved to no longer be sitting in awkward silence with her. Laini didn't think she was one for small talk. The approaching huntress at least much more...less cranky, if Laini had to choose a term.

She was late and she knew it. She had so wanted to wake meet with the other lionesses early on-impress those in the group that held seniority, but now she was certain that if she was going to be part of the nicknamed group, it would be as Nomvula the Lazy. She did not wish for that at all.

By the time that she got to the group, there were three already there. She ducked her head slightly as she approached, looking ashamed of herself, but when she heard introductions going around, she perked up her ears. If everyone was just getting to introducing themselves, perhaps she wasn't so horribly late after all?

Relieved, the lioness straightened up and was opening her mouth to greet the others when the voice of another behind her spoke first.

"Good morning, everyone." Safura said, coming around the other lioness. Safura, one of the newer lionesses to the pride, had no trouble distinguishing those who were more familiar with the lands than that'd who weren't. While the lioness herself usually liked feeling that she was in charge at all times (a trait she had acquired from being her sister's manipulator) she had come along during this hunting trip to put her dominant personality to rest and learn all she could for the time being.

She could not remember whether she was invited along or if she had simply overheard this. All she really knew was that here she was ready to learn and that her twin sister, brutish and more of a fighter than a hunter, really, was not here to trip her up. Safura, for the most part, was content. She smiled at the others in the group. "Lovely day for a hunt."

Zakiya smiled brightly. "It's very nice to meet you Laini, my name is Zakiya! It's always wonderful to see new faces around here. It definitely makes the hunting trips easier," she said with a small laugh.

With new females around, the responsibilities that the umzingeli shared were more spread out. Zakiya saw them as additional set of eyes, ears, claws, teeth, and power.

When the other two lionesses arrived, Zakiya perked up and yelled a friendly, "Good morning! Its a beautiful day to go hunting, now that we're all together we can get going."
