User ImagePollux was having a horrible dream, he knew it had to be a dream since he was just up in Decas cave! This dream he was down below and the sky was scary and red and Decas eyes were aflame and smoke was coming out of her mouth. She was closing in on him unafraid of his size and snapping her teeth at him. Deca looked like she was going to eat him! He couldnt run away, he was stuck! Pollux looked down and his feet were bloody broken bony messes. He wanted to wake up or run or have a good dream again. Finally she closed in on him and opened her mouth, baring large razor sharp fangs and sunk them into his side. Except it really hurt!

Polluxs eyes snapped open and he let out a big yelp, more in surprise but pain as well! Did she really bite him? She was yelling at him and he was still bewildered from his scary dream but slowly remembering that she wasnt doing so good, she looked like she still wasnt as she weaved and staggered around. He wanted to go to her but she was telling him to get out, but he couldnt! He cant just leave her! Moving cautiously he went closer to her to assist if she were to fall hard or hurt herself in her fever.

Pollux wanted to crawl in a hole and just die. He felt awful to the depths of his heart for making her cry, he knew what he did was wrong but he had to do it!
He steeled himself and limped over to her, his body still beaten from the previous task. Poll gave a big sigh and plopped down next to her, uncaring if she lashed out at him, uncaring if she hated him then and there. What he knew he needed to do was support her. In every way.

Slowly and cautiously he very lovingly curled around her and did not move.
Not so cloying as to make her feel trapped, just there comfortingly. Thats when his tears started to well in his dimly glowing eyes. He spoke faintly,
almost a thrumming whisper."You were dying......I tried every other option I could think of. I .....didnt want to lose you. I cant lose you." The last words he choked out as a sob. He felt like such a monster for he knew how much she needed her solitude, that and he was mad at himself for ruining EVERYTHING that he had worked so hard to build.

User ImageWhen she heard Pollux start to move her chest squeezed tight. He was going to leave! It was what she wanted. What she had told him to do. But it still felt like part of her chest was being hollowed out. It shouldn't bother her. She was used to being left. This was the problem with letting anyone be around. They always left in the end.

When she heard him settle next to her, her heart skipped a beat. What was he doing? Trying to make it worse? She let out a keen. She wanted to push him away. Lash out again, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. She was angry at him for ignoring her demands to get out. He was still too close. Too invasive. Then he curled around her.

For the first time in her life she actually felt protected. It scared her more than anything else ever had. She still couldn't push past her own anger and despair enough to look at him so she didn't realize when he started to cry. His voice when he spoke was soothing. She couldn't catch any of the words but for some reason she felt herself relax. Which bewildered her. He had breached her sacred sanctuary! Then he had ignored her demands to leave! She wouldn't admit to herself that his presence was actually doing her good.

'He didn't leave.' she thought to herself. 'He didn't abandon me.'

She cried for some time before she slipped into a fitful sleep. It wasn't long before the water of the little stream that she hadn't had the chance to move out of chilled her body. As she slept, unconsciously she scooted against him, her body seeking the warmth of his. Eventually, between the cooling effect of the stream and his comforting, despite herself, presence she slipped into a deep healing sleep. Maybe when she woke things would be better. She would be alone with the integrity of her privacy intact. If not she would deal with it then. Her sleeping self let out a satisfied sigh as she curled even closer into him.

User ImageNever before in his life had he ever experienced this kind of situation. It was plain awful and he wanted to do all he could to make it better so he tried his best to pick the right choices. Her cries tore at his heart and he felt like it may possibly break, never did he wish any of this horribleness to happen upon his lovely Deca.

No matter what happened he wasnt going to move, even if she wanted to beat him to a pulp he would stay right here. Always. Since his worry for her was so great he didnt sleep at all even thought he was exhausted, he had to make sure she was safe and that she didnt try to flee or something.

During her sleep time he watched her, taking in all of her details. The complimentary wavyness of her mane, her cute little nose, the little switchy tail that was curled and tucked away. He gave a soft sigh, feeling drained but far more relaxed as he continued his protective watch over her.

When she had suddenly shifted towards him he froze in place, wondering what he should do. Upon realizing she was just chilled and moved to him in her sleep he relaxed his tight sore muscles. Her little cold body tucked perfectly against his big hide and he couldnt help but smile. This was nice, maybe in the future this could happen more. Not with the previous events, but maybe just cuddles. When she burrowed further into his warm side he curled his tail around her very gently, making sure she was perfectly protected and comfortable. After that he finally got some rest.

User Image When Deca awoke still curled against Poll's side she found she couldn't bring herself to care. An emotional numbness had settled in. Her sanctuary had been breached and there was nothing that could be done for it. She stood, not taking any care for whether or not she disturbed him. She went out on the ledge to discover that night had fallen. How long they had slept cuddled together she didn't know. And found she couldn't bring herself to care. It could have been hours or days. She was deflated after the emotional outburst. Turning her eyes to the stars she spread her wings and lept into the warm summer night. Letting the solitary act of flying soothe her. Hopefully he would no longer be there in her cave when she returned.

Months went by and the unrelenting heat of summer faded into a crisp healthy fall. The pain of his violation gradually faded. The ugly scar of his path the main reminder. This too would eventually have to be smoothed out as Deca didn't want anything that wasn't lovely in her area. At first she wasn't sure how to react with the Dino but eventually it became clear that their relationship was much the same as before if, at times, a little strained. When it became clear that he was for sure not going anywhere they fell into a partnership. Which came in handy as new storage caves had to be dug for the extra abundance of food that was the result of his help with her garden. She herself couldn't have done all the work that needed done in the time they had to do it. She found herself again becoming grateful for his presence in her home as they fell into a steady rhythm of autumn harvest.

That was how Deca came to wake on one chilly morning, happily alone in her cave. She drank and stretched and gazed over her waiting harvest while she was trying to decide what they should do for the day. Her eyes focused on one particular corner of where grew some squash. That's what they could bring in today. Satisfied with her decision she stepped from her ledge and, opening her wings, glided down to where Poll usually slept. Alone, she thought with vague amusement. As the weather had cooled, Deca had found herself becoming more lenient and tolerant of Mek's presence. Going so far as to let the little lizard sleep in her cave rather than trying to face the chill she knew was horrible for him. Poll on the other had, well, he could suffer. He was a big boy.

Deca was vaguely surprised, but not put out, to find Poll's sleeping spot vacant. Sometimes he would rise early to go foraging or maybe finish up a bit of work from the day before. She was finding, to her surprise, that she wasn't concerned about him leaving anymore. Though if he did it would put her in rather a bad spot with all the work to be done. She shook this thought aside and wandered off in search of the stallion.
