Astronomy ~ A
While he did study for the O.W.L, Lionel was never a true fan of Astronomy. He enjoyed some of the courses taken in the class, but it didn't by any means captivate him. And due to his study time being cut for other courses, he received a low A on this O.W.L
Charms~ EE
He is not a spell master by any means, but he studied quite a bit for this O.W.L and spent a large amount of his time studying for this O.W.L. So, due to his hardwork, his average spell work reached an above average level. This allowed him to get an EE on his O.W.L.
Defense Against the Dark Arts~ EE
Another subject in which there was a high amount of studying. He knew coming into the year that he was below par in this subject and worked hard enough to reach a very good level, receiving a low EE in the subject of Defense Against the Dark Arts
Herbology~ EE
Lionel has always had a secret passion for plants and flora, which lead to him paying keen attention in this course. He didn't mind any of the professors during his five years at Hogwarts and respected them all to the best of his abilities. This allowed him to do well on his O.W.Ls.
History of Magic~ P
This subject was studied for minimally. History of Magic never really kept his interest. He found it boring and that regretfully led to moments in which he forgot many details. While it is unfortunate, he never wanted to take the course again, so he was quite fine with the score.
Potions~ EE
Herbology and Potions go hand in hand at times, especially when trying to understand the ingredients in the Potions themselves. This allowed him to understand and remember quite a bit with Potions. He also studied hard and paid keen attention in class, which provided him with a high enough skill level to score an EE on his O.W.L.
Transfiguration~ A
While he can get away with improving his spell work enough to do well with DADA and Charms, it is much harder to do in Transfiguration. Transfiguration calls for a command over a magic in which Lionel just could not produce. But, he did study and knew enough to scrape by with a low A.
Art~ EE
Lionel personally has a love for art that is unparalleled, but he believed that he could just ace the class without doing a lot of studying, which bit him in the butt when he went to take the O.W.L. and found that there was a concept on it that he didn't remember. But, despite his lack of knowledge on the one subject, he still held his own and was able to get a high EE.
Ghost and Ghoul Studies~ P
He didn't think it through when he took this class during his third year. Maybe he thought it would be fun to talk to ghosts. But, it turned out to be another history course, the type of course that does not captivate him whatsoever. He would've dropped it, but his desire to finish what he started overwhelmed him. So, due to this, he didn't do too well
Muggle Studies~ A
Another moment where he believed he could get by without doing a mess of study, due to his muggleborn roots. Well...that was a mistake and due to this mistake, he didn't do amazingly on his Muggle Studies O.W.L.
Wandless Magic Practice class~ A
As aforementioned, he isn't particularly skilled at the whole spell work thing. But, that being said, there are cases where a good amount of studying and practice can turn the average into a more skilled wizard. Well....this wasn't the case for Lionel, who remained spectacularly average.
