He definitely thought it was strange, there was no question about that, but it was also kind of cool. A real life haunted house right in the middle of Ashdown. Okay, fine. Maybe he was being a little naive after everything that had happened recently, but Halloween had always been a favorite as far as holidays were concerned, and he was itching to see what the other side considered spooky when everything over there already was.
Even with this level of optimism in his heart, Rabbit spent a little under an hour hanging around outside the place once the sun had set, watching as local kids ventured inside and came out screaming, some of them sparkling in the moonlight or trailing a plume of fog as they ran away. He shrugged to himself. If they could make it out in one piece, so could he.
No one had passed him from several minutes before Rabbit finally decided to go inside, and he held his breath as he crossed the threshold, surprised to find nothing more threatening than a long hallway. It was stretched farther than the house was deep, because why not, and the tidy little living room visible from the outside windows didn't feature here at all. He supposed this house had every right to do as it pleased, but that didn't make the place any less unnatural. He felt a bit like he was stepping into the otherworld as he ventured inside. For all he knew, he was.
Down the hall Rabbit went, walking forward deliberately and without fear... until the lights flickered and died. The door he'd came in through creaked to a close and one up ahead opened, letting a sliver of light into the darkened hall. A hiss issued from behind him, and when he listened closely, he could hear words in the sound.
"No thank you!" he yelped. Rabbit practically leaped toward the light, and he was through the door before he could actually comprehend what the creature wanted.
Fear: 2/18
Quote: ROOM ONE
It’s a hallway. There is only one way to go and you’re not sure how it even works because you could have sworn there were windows on either side that looked into a living room. A table sits to the side, a rocking chair next to it. The lights flicker and go out. It’s when they come back on that you realize you’re not alone.
Something is behind you and a door down the way creaks open.

He slammed it shut behind him, or he tried to at the very least. The hissing creature—a snake, rather predictably—slipped into the room with him before he could, pushing its head up to the height of Rabbit's. It hissed again.
"I. Can't. Understand. You?" he shouted.
The snake lunged, and Rabbit pulled away, crashing into the table behind him. As if that was all it had wanted, the creature vacated the room through the far door with more speed than it should have possessed. Rabbit thought it might have even teleported.
He was left alone in a space bursting with weird wax people, the presidential debate blaring from a television near the opposite door. Rabbit made a face. He didn't watch that s**t at home, and he sure as hell wasn't going to watch it here. Despite his better judgment, he jogged out of the door the snake had slid through, leaving the real horror behind.
Fear: 4/18
Quote: ROOM TWO
Lightning flashes across the sky and you can see it through the skylights that are part of the ceiling of this room. It’s a dining room with wax figures sitting at the table and forever caught in what looks like an animated discussion of politics.
You assume it’s politics. There’s a television in the corner that looks like there’s a debate playing. It’s possibly scarier than what appears next as you turn your gaze to the door that opens.

Rabbit burst in on the strangest scene: a pair of translucent teenage ghosts lazing about drawing and drinking. Or rather, three ghosts. He hadn't noticed one of them where it stood by the far door, peeking through a tiny hole in the wall and giggling to itself at regular intervals.
"Having fun, buddy?" he asked, holding his ground when the spirit turned and pointed at him... no, past him. Rabbit didn't want to look, but he knew the dangers in being here, so it wasn't long before he gave in, looking over his shoulder then rotating slowly to face whatever it was that was creeping on him.
It was Olivia, somewhat ghostly but still in living color. Her hair was matted with blood, and one of her eyes was nothing but a gaping socket, crawling with maggots. Rabbit closed his eyes, swallowed, and arced his fist through the shadow, dispelling it as he hurried out the door.
Fear: 10/18
Quote: ROOM THREE
... it’s a room of ghosts, actual ghosts. Except that they’re college students lounging about on couches. One of them is doing caricatures and another pair plays beer bong. You’re absolutely not interesting to them at all. There’s another ghost in the corner by the door that opens. It seems kind of pervy.
Also it’s pointing to something behind you.
