Springtime Teenager

    Round the Clock

It had felt like forever since they'd been wandering, and yet not that long at all. New York was cold, but Shiloh was used to it, and he laughed out a sweet, lofty sound as he carried their prize.

    The pizza.

Or more specifically, the box, as the pizza was still warm and contained within it. “We getting close yet?" he asked Jamie, looking over with wide innocuous eyes.

“God you're still so impatient." Oliver bemoaned the situation, but he also tried his best to hide a smile. It was good having his brother back, rash nature and all.

“God, you're still such a d**k." Shiloh retorted as he stuck his tongue out, whining out a startled yelp when Ollie started kicking at him, “N-No! No! Stop! You'll ******** up the pizza!"

“You brought it on yourself! Anyway, Jamie's tired so try to settle it down."

“Well you started it." Shiloh huffed as he got the last word in, deeply inhaling the sweet smell of grease and midnight heat lamp dough.

Round the Clock

Even if Oliver was using it as an excuse to settle the roughhousing, Jamie was pretty damn tired. They all were. Tired, hungry, and in dire need of a hot shower and a cozy bed. All he had to do was ignore the nagging worry they'd be upset about the whole one bed situation he conveniently forgot to mention.

Well, they made it easier than it would've been, at least. The twins' banter continued to make Jamie smile. It didn't matter how childish it might seem to anyone else.

"Don't you guys dare drop that pizza," he warned, "We don't have that much money, y'know." Playing mom or not, he sounded good natured about it. Truth was, they were doing better monetarily than he thought they'd be, but the hotel room hit the hardest.

"We're almost there, though, don't worry. It's just... about half a block."

“I won't!" Shiloh huffed, getting real ruffled at the mere thought of dropping their precious dinner. “I wouldn't dare! I've got ******** hands like, like—"

"Like a crab?" Oliver offered thoughtfully, tilting his head, Vice grips, pincers, it made sense to him...

he grumbled inwardly like a massive child, popping the lid of the pizza box open. Steam immediately hit the cool autumn air, causing a cloud to waft into Shiloh's face. He greedily retrieved a slice.

"Hey! You're gonna let it all cool off..." Ollie lamented the inevitable loss of their warm pizza before deciding ******** it, he should get a slice too, and he did. Actually, he got two. "Here Jamie," he offered the slice to their tired friend. "We probably could've waited, but jackass had to open the box."

“I'm hungry! ******** Ollie..." Shiloh was breathing hard through his nose, mostly because his mouth was crammed full of a potent mixture of grease, cheese and dough. And I'm still carrying the damn thing."

Round the Clock

"They wouldn't pinch you if you didn't provoke them," Jamie told Shiloh, trying not to sound too mean or condescending, but he had to defend those cute little scuttlers they'd seen on the beach. They were just trying to live their lives, just trying to have a good time. Innocent until proven crabby.

The smell was what hit him first as their pizza was thrown to the whims of the wild, cold night air. His stomach immediately responded, gurgling and growling and poking at him from the inside. It had been bad enough with the box closed.

Walking while eating was a bit inconvenient, but heck if Jamie was going to say no when Ollie offered him the slice.

"Thanks," he bubbled, taking a bite so fast he almost got whiplash. Totally worth it. "It's so good." Warm, comforting, perfect. For a second Jamie didn't care that he was walking down the sidewalk in the middle of 1980's New York. He was eating pizza.

"You're the best for carrying it, Shiloh, thank you."
