Regin ran as speedily as she could. Her heart thumping loudly in her chest and her breath short but steady. She could hear her mothers voice and a great longing swept through her being. She had missed her mother dearly, and part of her rued her decision to live in the desert no matter how much joy the change in home had brought her. The forest was her birthplace, her first experiences and memories revolved around the forest. Her mother and father had first meet at the edge of the forest in a nearby clearing. It was there that her mother had boldly first propositioned her father and he had speedily accepted the match. Few mares would have the gall to ask a stallion they had just meet to be potential mates. Regin liked to think she had inherited her boldness from her mother but upon reflection she realized she had become more confident and more bold as the years progressed. She rather liked the mare she had become and in her own way she was just as kick a** as her mother. It was interesting what age and self reliance did to a soq. When she was younger it seemed she was more self conscience and critical about herself. She greatly bemoaned her lack of wings but while a part of her still yearned to fly she had accepted that she would never be able to soar through the sky's. Instead she had learned to enjoy the feeling of running through dunes of the desert. Their was enjoyment to be had in the small pleasures of life. Instead of fixating on what she lacked her maturity had taught her to acknowledge the small joys that surrounded her. Small blessing could be found everywhere from the glory of the orange sunset over the sand to the warm smile and the kind of of her mate Knuckle Bone. Thinking of her mate made Regin blush a little bit. They had been mates for a long time and she still thought he was a handsome devil. They loved each other but they also respected each others space. They were both very independent soq and they often spent time away from each other but when they reunited they were very clingy and affectionate with each other. Regin was so blessed in many ways. Just thinking of all the ways made her heart warm with joy.

While she might not have gotten wings her bloodline still carried the genes for flight. Her 2nd born son had inherited her genes and his wings were quite a sight to behold. They were enormous and verdant green in color making one think the were looking at a leaf. From a distance some soq might even believe that those wings were a part of a giant plant. Regin thought her son's wings were both beautiful and amusing but she would never tell him these things. He had his father pride and he would be quite aghast at learning of his mothers thoughts. He would not like to be thought of as amusing and he in no way wanted to be thought of as beautiful.

Regin had stopped suddenly and Calevera nearly toppled into his mother. He was curious about what had halted his mothers movement. He looked around the clearing and his eyes focused on the sight of three newly emerged foals. The were quite adorable and their parentage was quite clear. They all looked a bit like his Uncle Dacian though one of the girls was the spitting image of her father. He was rather looking forward to the day when the girls made his uncle crazy with their antics. After his father Knuckle bones, his uncle Dacian was the older male that he most looked up to. Dacian was knightly and had a presence that drew attention. With his long hair and armor he made quite a picture. Dacian also super intelligent and strong. However Calevera thought his uncle was really an Idiot when it involved love. He was just really dense and just thinking about really frustrated Calevera. On numerous occasions Calevera had seen his uncle be surrounded by mares and a few times by stallions trying to court his attention. Dacian drew admires like honey draws bee's. However Dacian was oblivious to any soq's flirting, he just didn't realize that other soq were trying to flirt with him. Calevera snorted as he remembered many of the past event he had seen his uncle act in a hopeless manner. A soq would have to throw a rock at his head to get his attention. It was Ironically funny that Calevera had heard his uncle remark several times that he was forever going to be alone and single. Dacian seemed to think that he would never meet a soq that would want to be his mate and who he could love.

It was a shock to Calevera to see that his uncle had become a father. He was wondering what kind of trick the mare pulled to grab hold of his uncle. She must be highly intelligent and unrelenting. Somehow Calevera did not believe that his uncle would easily fall in love. When he could he was going to secretly talk to his uncle to make sure he was alright. After all it was part of Calevera's duty to protect his family. He needed to make sure his uncle had not been tricked or needlessly coaxed into being a father. After all his uncle was vastly intelligent in many ways but was ridiculously naive in many ways. Calevera would protect his uncle from any devious female or males that would try to take advantage of him. However it would be different if the unknown female standing quietly in the corner had a good heart and good intentions. Then Calevera would easily welcome her into the family and he would look forward to seeing his uncle love struck face. Calevera smirked as he thought of all the ways he could tease Dacian. While they might be uncle and nephew they were both born within the same year so their relationship was rather like siblings.

Daria eyes widened and her mouth made a little circle in surprise. Who were all these soq surrounding her. She knew her mother and father by their voices but she had never heard the voice of the other three soq. She was curious but a little scared at the same time. However her natural disposition was very cheeky. So while she was a bit scared, she was more curious. She seemed to be able to focus her eyes better and she was able to make out the overall features of the surrounding soq. The surroundings soq, seemed mostly dark in color. In fact all her surroundings seem to be dark though it's of light could be seen coming through the woods dense foliage. She seem to be had a break in the forest floor were more like was coming through the other clumps of the woodland surroundings. She had little knowledge of the world but later she would realize that her family coat color was great camouflage. Daria would also realize the reason for her families unusual home. The forest could be dark and scary but to many soq greater danger existed outside the forest. Purewalkers and possessed kalona were a few of the dangers that awaited the unexpected outside the forest. Perhaps it was the great darkness of the inner forest the scared of most soq. However predators seldom entered the forest. It was said that seethe soq once walked the forest and the set up traps against predators. Perhaps the stories had some merit because the woodlands was a safe haven. However at this point Daria was still a young foal who had recently opened her eyes for the first time. She didn't yet realize what a marvelous place she lived. However she would as she grew older but for now all she could manage to do is gaze at the soq that surrounded her and wonder who they were. She knew her mother as her mother was the very first soq she had seen. However she did not know who the other were. At first the group of soq was quiet, but soon they spoke all at once. The sound when from a murmur to rather a jarring sound. Her ears were still adjusting to the loud sound. She was aware that one of the voices was her father, but she didn't know which one. Daria wished the group would once again be quite. After all she and her sister had a long day. Even with the short nap she had taken the days adventures were starting to take a toll. She stumbled back and forth through the clearing before stopping at the figure of her mother. She walked to the other side of her mother and slumped down to once again take a nap. Her younger and eldest sister were already sleeping. Clearly they were much smarter then her.

Dacian looked back at the approaching soq. He was mildy surprised to see them. Their arrival was not unexpected, since his sister traveled every year to the forest. He was just expecting her and his nephew to arrive a few weeks later then their early arrival. He had just been expecting to break the news first to his mother and then to his father and brothers. His sister and nephew made the situation a bit more prickly. He expected he would need to carefully explain the situation to his family. His family believed in a destined partner. It would be unusual for one of them to have a fling, but it might have been understood if they thought he was hopelessly in love with Deneb. However he did not have romantic feeling towards Deneb. Though he thought she was gorgeous and had an elegant manner. However he knew she was in a fragile state and was not ready for a romantic relationship. It suited him fine, he was after all a novice at love. It would be better for him to have some experience at courting the opposite sex. After all he was not a male that drew admirers so it would be best if he learned how to skillfully talk with females. Originally that what first brought Deneb and Dacian together. Deneb was lonely by herself and she was not familiar with the depths of the woodlands. Deneb did have a great deal of knowledge about forest entrance but the depths of the forest were quite different and many soq found themself in a dangerous situation because they didn't understand the mysterious of the heart of the forest. He taught her what he knew and enjoyed her quick lively conversation. As they grew closer as friends, she shared her history. She was terrified of making the same mistakes. He concerns about the future were minor compared to her hopes and dreams but she listened to him and gave him good advice. Deneb taught him how to look deeply into the eyes of a female he was interested in. She told him the most important part of wooing a female is to pay attention to what she likes and what she values. Of course flower complements are good but many soq can easily give out complements that have little to no value. It is instead important to be honest and carrying. Deneb had admitted that she had been swayed in the past by males with honeyed words but evil intentions. "It is easy to fall, to evil ones," Deneb had whispered to him once. Her eyes slightly misty as she tried to hold her tears back. It had hurt to see his dear friend in so much pain. Dacian vowed that someday he would help find a male that would appreciate her . He was tired of seeing her cry softly as she tried to hide her tears.

Calevera watched his uncle's face go through a series of emotions. He had been looking forward to teasing this uncle over his facial expressions.
It was quite entertaining to watch Dacian animated face shift from emotion to emotion. However watching Dacian made Calevera think of his own future. Dacian was only six months older then Calevera and he now had a family. Calevera also wanted a family at some point, though he knew finding the right mare would be difficult. He was not used to interacting with females other then his mother and to be honest where he lived also made finding a mate hard. The desert was not an easy place to live an few soq traveled the desert lands without companions. Calevera also knew his size and looks could also be a factor. While females and males flocked to Dacian, it was not the case with Calevera. While he might be younger Calevera was much bigger then his uncle. He was both tall and had a bulkier body build. His voice was also more of a baritone and a bit gruff. He often wore a protective facial Mask made out of a skull. All of the factor listed above put him at a disadvantage when dealing with the opposite sex. He was not inclined towards his own gender but if he was he doubted his looks would appeal to other stallions. Calevera did not believe himself to be ugly but he knew he stature was intimidating. He did not inherit his mother daintiness but was clearly a product of his fathers WoW hyena bloodline. Calevera liked that his big body and tall stature followed the Hyena body style. His Father Knuckle Bones was incredibly strong and resilient. He had spent many years surviving alone in the desert and often spent many weeks and sometimes months journeying the desert by himself. Surviving in the desert with a body built for harsh conditions was much more convenient then trying to live in the desert with a body that was ill equipped to handle the harsh environment. Though of course Soq like his mother delicate looking mother existed in the desert though they were rare. Stubborn headed soq that fought the harsh environment through their well.Eventually if the harsh conditions didn't kill them they were able to make their body stronger. It was actually kind of amazing that his mother Regin was now able to survive by herself in the desert. When she originally entered the desert she had become disoriented and had almost died. That was when his father Knucklebones had saved her and had shown her how to survive the desert harsh temperatures and finding water sources. It was at this time his mother fell in love with his father. Calevera thought both of them were lucky to find each other. He doubted that he would find mate the same way his father had found his mother.

Once again Sumire was brought to the realization that her bloodline was filled with oddballs. Clearly a streak of uniqueness or simply screwball behavior ran rampant in her family. Her mate was rather level headed and highly intelligent . While she would like to claim that characteristics that her offspring and grandson were displaying were because of her mates blood, she just couldn't. She felt like their silliness must have come from her own unique thought process and sometimes quirky behavior. After all her mate was too sweet and clear headed. He would never display the silliness her descendants were acting out. It would have been nice if all her offspring had taken after her mates personality.

Sumire sighed a long sigh that filled the clearing and was all to dramatic. Clearly this was an example of her being too dramatic. Her family was acting like a chicken without a head. Sumire had always thought this saying was rather vulger, but yet it perfectly described the scene before her. Dacian seemed to be glued to one spot, his head in the clouds. Every emotion seemed to flash across his face , but he seemed a bit sad. Sumire's was a bit concerned for her son. Shouldn't he as a father feel extreme joy, instead his face flickered between extreme happiness and despair. Her daughter Regin was standing off to the side quietly and watching the the excitement like a spectator watching a performance. She was perhaps the wisest in the group. Her grandson Calevera on the other hand, was acting in a peculiar manner. He looked hopeful at times, but other times he would secretly shot Deneb sharp glances. He looked at her like she had taken away his favorite toy. Not to mention the noise all the family was making. The little foals clearly needed their sleep the days activities had simply exhausted all of them. However all the adults around them were making quite a commotion and were probably disturbing the little ones sleep. Sumire could understand why everyone was making such a racket. Everyone was excited about the foals emerging, but the big thing would be to give the girls some peace and quite. All the present family members were being far to noisy. Didn't any of the present family members have any practical sense? It seemed that Deneb was the only one who was not filling the woodlands with boisterous clatter. However Deneb was the only soq in this patch of the woods that was not related to her, what a pity. If only her own offspring had enough sense to know that tired young foals needed a quiet environment. Sumire did not raise her voice, but she pointedly looked each of her dependents in their eyes and raised her eyebrows in a sign of displease. If they were smart they would soon realize her meaning.

Regin sensed a storm was coming and not the physical manifestation of rain. Storms were both wonderful and dangerous they brought much needed water to the desert and brought wonderful flowers that carpeted the desert in a multicolored brilliance. However this storm was not brought about by the change it weather but by changing emotions. Sumire was clearly upset at everyone in the vicinity. Now Regin could be a mamma bear and protect her son when she thought he needed protection. However circumstances were a bit different this time, Regin had distinct impression that her son was part of the reason why her mother was upset. "I believe that this is to dangerous of a battle for me. My experience and intuition are telling me that this is not a good time to cross my mother. I have a feeling her irritation levels keep rising and if they do I don't want them focused on me. Son I really love you, but this particular opponent is to charged emotionally for me to handle. I don't want to involve myself in any kind of battle. Only a complete idiot rushed into battles that they have no chance of winning. This time your own your own squirt,"Regin whispered under her breath in a soft tone of voice that no one, except the trees could hear. If her soon was truly in danger she would enter any battle to give him aid, but not all battles were physical and well it looked like it was not just her son that was causing her mother to get angry, but her younger brother as well. At least her song would have company when he received a tongue lashing from his grandmother.

Hiding from her mother behind some nearby trees made her feel a bit cowardly, but her mate Knucklebones had taught her to choose her battles wisely. Over time Knucklebone's had taught many lessons on how to successfully survive in the desert. He had taught her how to find water in the desert, make basic tools, and how to gauge enemies. Knucklebone had taught her many strategies for dealing with dangerous soq. He advised her to carefully watch other soqs facial expressions especially the eyes. Eyes were the widows into a soq's soul. Many soq could lull you into :complacency and trick you with their fake smiles. However soq with evil intentions often had hard eyes. He cautioned her it was better to out think a opponent and if you need to fly. If the enemy was to fast or weak you could fight, but he taught her it was important to pick your fights carefully.

However his teaching on picking the correct battles to fight, could easily be applied to this situation. This was one fight that she did not want to be part of.

Dacian looked sideways as his sister. She had suddenly become very quiet and she was looking from side to side as if trying to avoid the gaze of someone in the vicinity. She was slowly backing up and positioning herself behind a tree. Her facial expression tried to look both naive and clueless, but Dacian knew his eldest and only sister was putting forth a front. Clearly he had missed something among the group's social interactions. His sister could be bossy and abrasive at times, but most of the time she was sweet and mellow. She didn't back of from fights and only one soq would get her to try to act in a foal like manner. Sumire, their mother was the only soq that would make Regin act in that fashion. Dacian let his eyes slowly wander to the direction were his mother had been standing since she first discovered the foals. He knew she probably felt deceived by him keeping their birth a secret. Since his parents and his eldest sister were both in lifemate relationships, he felt awkward telling them about his complicated relationship with Deneb. Dacian never intended to hide news of his first offspring , however he just thought the topic difficult to bring up. Several times he had almost brought the topic up in discussion with his father and mother, but each time he had lost the courage. Generally he was brave when facing an enemy, he was used to battle and fighting as a protector/ warrior for the woodlands . Perhaps the ability to tell hard truths was a bravery of different kind of courage. Dacian pondered over this thought and believed he had a mental breakthrough . If he looked at the situation, he found himself to be in a unknown precarious place. When fighting with enemies, he knew he could be injured or die. Dacian took great pride in his job as acting as the woodlands protector, he had long ago come to terms that his job might one day take his life. Since he had come to terms with losing his life he could be brave. Now that he was a father his life had become more complicated and knew he would need to be especially careful when fighting till the girls reached adulthood and could take care of themselves. Should anything happen to Dacian, he knew his parents, brothers and sister would step up and protect and provide for his girls.

Dacian however was a novice when came to telling hard truths to his family. He dearly loved his family and he hated to cause them emotional pain. He knew his actions in keeping the girls a secret had probably hurt his mother the most. She had been looking forward to the day she would receive grand foals from him. Since Sumire had not been able to see her Regin offspring until they were adults she was putting her hopes on her sons. Sumire had complained to the family just the other day that non of her three sons looked like they were going to have families anytime soon and she was going to become grey in her mane and coat before any of her boys gave her anouther set of grand foals. Dacian should have told her then and their of the existence of his newborn girls who had been residing in their baskets

Daria slowly opened one of her eyes. The bright sunlight was to much stimulation so she hurriedly snapped closed her eye and kept both her eyes closed for a minute. Hesitantly she slowly opened both of her eyes in small increments trying to let her eyes adjust to the sunlight. She was in the deep woods, but since she had just emerged from her basket any little bit of light was an adjustment . Some change had just occurred that had effected her slumber. She had been having such a great dream , but as seconds became minutes the sharp and vivid colors of her dream slowly faded away. She bit her lip a little bit in frustration, she had sensed that the dream had been really good and she wanted to happily remember all the details. However dreams are dreams and most are easily forgotten no matter how one wants to hold on to all the memorable details.
Some change had just occurred that had disrupted her sleep. Her elder and younger sister were both still happily slumbering . Her elder sister had a slight smile on her face as she happily dreamed. Daria twin and a few minutes younger sister Delphini was twitching slightly from her tail all the way to her face. Delphini seemed to be having a intense dream, but somehow Daria could feel from their twin bond that her little sister was not in a state of emotional distress. She just felt that her sister was in a mellow state and was probably just dreaming about walking.
Daria short nap was not enough to refresh her body and she still felt physically tired. Emotionally however she was excited and her brain was active trying to consume the world around her. With non typical foal judgement, Daria decided to let her sisters sleep in peace. She wanted to play and explore with them. However all three of them were still wobbly on their legs. Playing was an activity would have to wait to all three of them were stronger.

Her sisters most have been really exhausted to sleep through all the noise the adult soq were making. Daria's ears twitched from side to side , but she couldn't make any sense of the clatter of noise that filling the clearing. All the words were jumbled as multiple adults talked at once. After some time the noise seemed to suddenly decrescendo . It seemed like one after the other the adult soq stopped talking and all their eyes seemed to be focused on a dark colored female with large impressive wings who was standing very near to her. The females eyes when looking at her were soft, but her expression towards all the other adults was intense and stormy.

Dacian regretted not telling his mother about the girls birth when the opportunity presented itself. Dacian sighed and hung his head low, he could regret all he wanted, but the past wasn't going to change. No matter how much he wished it would at this present time. Well he would just have to deal with the consequences of his actions. Dacian bowed his head towards his mother.
"I'm sorry," Dacian started to say before he cut off part way. He truly was apologetic that hid the true from his parents and siblings. Mostly however he was sorry towards his mother because he knew she was the most disappointed by his actions. However just when he started to apologize he had been glared at quite rudely by his mother. She seemed furious so with some hesitation he nodded his head in her direction and looked at the ground and once again tried to apologize however this time all he has able to say was "I," before he was interrupted by a soq making a "shh noise," he looked from side to side but was started to find the noise to be coming from his mother. He gazed at her confused, her lips formed the word quiet but she did not make anymore noise. Instead she glared at him and from that glare he knew he was in trouble if he tried to speak any time soon. She tilted her head towards the direction the young foals were sleeping. He could see that one of the girls was slowly wakening up. As she woke the little female opened her eyes before quickly closing them. This patch of the woods was not the most dense area of the woodlands and a fair amount of sunlight could be seen coming through gaps in the canopy of the trees. Dacian could understand how light could be jarring for the little one that just woke up. After all sometimes when he first woke from his sleep and opened his eyes the light could bother him as his eyes tried to get adjusted. However the little girl had just recently gotten out of her basket so her young eyes must be extremely sensitive. Dacian felt a moment of pity for her, so many things had changed for her today. At the start of the day, she had been warm a protected snuggled tightly in her magical basket. However now she had to deal with the stimulation of the word around her. With that thought Dacian finally realized what he mother had been trying to tell him and why she had become so aggravated at him. Clearly he and the other family members present had been noisy while the girls were sleeping. Clearly the little foal had just woken up because of all the noise.

Sumire raised one eyebrow at her son. Finally he was starting to realize how disruptive he, Calevera, had been with all their chatter. Where the males around her always this dense or was there something about young foals that made them temporarily lose their common sense. She hoped their confusion was not a new maintained state, but a fleeting state of being. Sumire narrowed her eyes as she looked around for her wayward daughter. "Hmm smart girl,"she mumbled to herself as she looked around for her daughter. Regin was clearly out of sight most likely she sensed the mood of her mother. Sumire admired her daughter for being the only one able to sense her mood. Though being a mother herself Regin, probably realized that the noise her son and brother were making was waking the foals. Sumire made a mental note to chide her daughter next time they were alone. Her daughter was no longer a fragile flower who could not weather criticism. Sumire had been devastated, when Regin first left the woodlands . However looking back now, she realized her daughter had not been in the best mental health during her youth. It was not until Regin returned from the desert that she had admitted that she had been very depressed by her lack of wings. Sumire had never considered that daughter would think less of herself because she had not inherited her mother wings. After all Sumire mate and Regin's father did not have wings. It made sense that not all their offspring would inherit her moth wings. Even Dacian who had inherited the wings , couldn't really fly. Dacian was just able to hover above the ground and glide if he needed to, but the action usually strained his back muscles. Sumire was saddened that daughter had suffered through her youth. However now Regin was a happy and emotional sound adult. Living in the desert and being a mother had greatly changed Regin. She was now a savvy, fierce little mare who often had the last laugh when it came to battles. Regin no longer needed to be coddled by her mother and Sumire no longer needed to feel guilty for not realizing how depressed her daughter had been.
Now they could once again have a proper mother and daughter relationship. Although Regin was an adult, she might still need her mothers help and advice every once in awhile. Sumire felt like their mother and daughter bond would grow and change over the next couple of years. However Regin would still always be her baby in her heart. After all Regin was her very first foal, and her only daughter.
Sumire always longed for the summer months to come sooner, because that was the time in which Regin visited the family because she couldn't stand the desert in the summer. With the thoughts of her daughter heavy on her mind, Sumire decided that perhaps she wouldn't chide Regin as much as she planned.

Regin felt a chill run down her back. Now Regin wasn't superstitious, but she had a feeling that someone was having a few negative thoughts about her. She admitted that behavior might be seen in a cowardly light . However her mate had taught her to survive at all cost and experience had taught her that it wasn't a good idea to cross her mother. Regin could suffer some pangs of guilt and a few chills down the spine if it meant she could avoid a sticky situation.

After all she was at fault as well. She knew from her own experience how precious sleep was for foals, but in her excitement over her new nieces she had forgotten to remind her son that he needed to be quiet around the young ones.

Well now she was stuck hiding behind a clump of trees until her mother calmed down. Hopeful her younger brother would notice the predicament he had gotten himself in and take control of the situation. Her son Calevera while not much younger then her little brother ,was still too naive to realize the danger he had gotten himself in. Hopefully he would soon take note of his grandmother's changing moods. She silently begged him to be more aware of his surroundings. Usually his survival instincts were keen and reliable, but they were either not working, or he was not paying attention to him. Regin let out a huff, as she gave voice to her frustrations. The chatter of her son and brother covered any noise that she made, and her mother remained no the wiser to her hidden location. Regin carefully peeked at the clearing from behind her hiding spot. The trees with their big bases were protecting her from her mother view, though she was probably visible from some angles of the small clearing. Regin sincerely hoped her butt was not sticking out from behind one of the trees. It would be quite humiliating if she was given away, because her rump was large . Luckily her coat color was on the darker side and easily blended into the dark woodland environment. However she did have a large bone accessory that was placed right on her tailbone. The skull's pale coloring would stand out in the woodland environment. Regins sighed deeply as she though of the humiliation that might await her.

Perhaps she should never have hidden. Regin had been trying to avoid a confrontation between her mother and herself. Her actions had been wise, but a bit cowardly. Mostly though she was regretting the choice because she kept imagining that her butt with it's shinny white skull was sticking out from behind her hiding place. If any of her family members saw the way she was hiding, they would tease her to no end.

Watching his uncle suddenly become quiet made the hair against Calevera neck stand on edge. Calevera's instincts were screaming at him that danger was close at hand. However he chuckled to himself that he was being rather paranoid. Calevera usually put great faith in his protective instincts , but there was no danger to him this far into the woods. This area of the woods had always been a safe oasis for the Woodland Moths. No predator had ever come this far into the heart of the woods So why would his instincts start screaming at him that he was in danger. He was with his family, what danger could pose a threat to him? However a part of his brain focused on the fact that his uncle had become particular quiet all of a sudden. Calevera eyes started to widen as he scanned the nearby vicinity and noticed the absences of his mother. His mother wouldn't have suddenly left the clearing without telling him first, especially since they had just arrived to her birthplace after their long journey through the soq lands. Something was very suspicious about his mom suddenly disappearing. Calivera eyes widened as he tried to scan the nearby vicinity. However his mother remained elusive and well hidden. At least that was was Calivera was starting to realize when he finally made eye contact with his grandmother. This was also the moment when he realized that his mother didn't always have his back. She must have noticed Sumire changing face and had stealthily snuck out of the clearing. He would have liked to have some warning, but wouldn't blame his mother for his present situation. After all his instincts had been screaming at him for some time, but he ignored them and hadn't noticed the danger in time. Just when he felt like he ears were going to flatten under the abuse of his grandmothers words, he was saved by an unlikely source. One of the little foals had wobbled towards Sumire. Once his grandmother had made eye contact with the little foal her attention was swiftly taken away from both him and his uncle. Calivera held his breath as he watched his grandmothers face. However she seemed to be totally distracted. He let out a brief sigh, perhaps he could safely avoid his grandmothers ire. Slowly Calivera started to back away in a stealthy manner. His mother had the right idea, when she had hidden herself. He was going to follow her example, and make himself scarce. As he started to back up, he suddenly heard a loud snap. He quickly looked on the forest floor and noticed in his haste he had stepped on large dry twig. Calivera quickly looked up at his grandmother, but she seemed to be thoroughly distracted. Taking this chance he quickly vanished deeper into the woods.

Daria looked up at silent scowling face of her grandmother. The face was very similar to the rest of the members present. However for all the fierce looks the mare was giving, Daria did not feel like her grandmother was at all scary. Her grandmothers eyes crinkled as she gazed at her. Daria could feel the warmth and love the mare felt towards her from her grandmother eyes.

"Are you ok little one," Her grandmother Sumire asked her.

Daria looked up at the face of the mare who was much taller then she was. She hoped that someday she would grow to be as tall as her grandmother. However it would take her a long time, before she could reach that height. She would try her best and hope that she wouldn't always be small.

"Well it seemed like you inherited your father wings and you look almost like a mirror image of him. However I do see a bit of your mother in you. She is quite the beauty and you carry her traits." Sumire said in a thoughtful manner.

Daria just looked at her grandmother and payed little attention to the older mares words. After all she wasn't really concerned with the way she looked. She had other concerns that weighed heavily on her mind.

"Your tall!" Daria exclaimed. Will I every grow to be as tall? How long will it take me to reach your height? Daria hurriedly spoke all the questions that had been tumbling around her mind. Her voice was a bit rusty from lack of use, but it was cute,foal-like, and deeply excited. Daria little wings fluttered hurriedly in her excitement.

"Well I don't see why you couldn't grow as tall as me. I don't know the future, but I thinks it's definitely possible. However you are going to have to eat nutritious food so you can grow to be tall with big strong bones. "Sumire spoke as she chuckled a bit. It had been a long time since she had been around young foals. She had forgotten how entertaining and lively they could be.

"Really I just have to eat a lot to grow big!" Daria exclaimed.

Sumire loudly laughed when she heard the young foals response. Her laughter rang through the woodlands.

Daria would later forget much of the events that transpired on the first day she had taken her her first steps out onto the woodlands . However she would always remember the fierce power of her grandmother gaze as she glared at her son and grandson. She also remembered the warm gaze of her grandmother when they made eye contact with each other for the first time.
Daria wanted to grow up to be an adult that had a kind heart but was also respected and a bit feared by others.
