It was something else to feel his own power used on him. Especially when it was Algie. Jeremiah was quiet a moment, shifting on his feet, and then smoothing a hand across his face. "I'm sure someone else likes it, maybe one of those hipster types, but it was not great. Too much flavor," that face was still there, as he rambled on, "too much everything."

A huff escaped then.

"That's dirty pool, Alg." Though he looked terribly amused about what the other had decided to ask. Looking around then, he focused on the various types of parchment and vellum they had before glancing back to his husband.

"I think we may have to try one more thing, to prove that it will work in the ways we want it." A breath escaped. "Imbuing something with the consent in mind to slightly change a feature. Something small and cosmetic physically or something that temporarily alters one of our powers. We've already proven that we can handle it but if we want to be sure that it's capable of doing what we truly want, this is likely the only way."

Picking up a piece of parchment, a pen dropped into his hand as he began to write something. Another few pieces of hair were dropped onto it, thumb holding them in place as he began to channel once more.

Nothing happened.

"... perhaps I am not offering it enough." This was not necessarily a small spell.

Alg chuckled and smiled, "Oh we both know it was awful.. but he was so proud of it." The power was interesting really, and to witness the face of someone it was used on put a whole new perspective on the thing. The cool box was set on the table beside his bottle.

"We will be... revoking the changes yes? I mean we should perhaps.. to see if everything is working correctly?" Though there was also no telling how long anything would last with the limited effort and process involved.

He leaned over Jeremiah's parchment just to see what he'd written, smiled a bit and grabbed a small piece of his own. Alg thought a moment, scribbled something down, and plucked a hair from the side of his hair with a tiny twinge.

Pressed to the page he concentrated and the hair seemed to shimmer and merge, much like with the label. This time Alg felt very much like he'd put a bit more of himself into it. He let out a breath, as if he'd been holding it without realizing and straightened.

Pulling up his pant leg to check the results, they were met with a decently noticeable birthmark that hadn't been there before. It was red, and if he weren't a grown adult you'd think he'd just been born moments ago with it. It almost surprised him to see it there, just a part of him like it was nothing... He also found it.. ugly. He hadn't exactly been specific about what it looked like and this is what he'd gotten.

Alg poked his leg, not a scar or a wound, not a burn, just a weird birthmark, "Well.. there's something cosmetic.." He almost grimaced.

"Yes, we'll undo it. I can't really say that we should keep things like this but if it proves that the method is capable ..." The look on his face said it all: then they proved it would succeed in what they wanted it to do.

An eyebrow was raised at the birthmark. "That's something for sure. Reminds me of a burn." Which was honestly something he'd rather not see on Algie for obvious reasons. Jeremiah turned back to his own piece of paper, perhaps pushing too much into it and watched as the paper suddenly combusted into a burst of cold fire.

"Shite. Too much that time ..." At least he was not damaged since it was mostly fire, though the tips of his fingers tingled as if the magic had tried to take but failed.

It was time to try again, Jeremiah wanting to succeed where Algie had done the same and then they'd know for sure they both had it down and could pass the method on to the others.

This time as he worked the magic, his mind kept wandering. Things merged together, the text glowed, but then ...

Nothing once more.

It was apparently a thing that Jeremiah was not channeling enough energy. Maybe he had been distracted by that totally indecent bit of leg Algie had shown off.

... still not enough magic applied. This was going to be like the spirit bomb apparently. Hopefully Jeremiah would not be channeling magic for five minutes only for it to end up being several days.

Still nothing, nothing at all. There was no changes, no feeling that overcame him that let him know it worked- nothing.

"How the bloody ******** did it give me a paper cut? That is not what I was trying to give it consent to do."

This time it was multiple paper cuts. His hand looked a little raw and he would have to tend to it before he actually went forward.

"Not using blood in this," he groused.

It exploded once more into a burst of coldfire flame. At least it was not paper cuts from hell.

This time, when it exploded, it went up in a poof of multi-colored fire that was actually quite pretty. It was not, however, what he wanted to change.

This time he was taking his time with the magic, slowly feeding it into the vellum as he pressed the hair to it. It was necessary, he knew, to focus and give of himself.

To channel and focus enough of his magic so that it would take. Not too little, not too much- just enough that it would work.

The paper shimmered, taking on a slightly cold quality, and slowly his initials appeared on it, as the hair had been woven into the paper to that shape. When Jeremiah exhaled, his breath was visible. It was cold breath but it was not what he had changed.

"Mind taking a look at my shoulders?" he asked his husband. "I wanted to ... try something slightly different." Jeremiah had wanted to change something that was integral to him: the ice on his spine.

It was still there but when Algie would look at his shoulders he would see faint freckles on his skin, sparkling like little bits of frost there. He wouldn't keep them but at least it would be proof.

Alg knew better than to intercede when Jeremiah had set his mind to it. Besides it he had done it, it was only a matter of moments before his husband did as well. Unfortunately he came very close to torching the entire tabletop a few times..

When asked he moved to Jeremiah and fiddled with his collar. He took a moment to give him a kiss (because why not?) before he was able to move his collar enough to see his neck and shoulder. His thumb brushed the freckles and they looked almost like an extension of the frost along his back.

"You're certainly sparkly now.." Alg murmured. They were cool to the touch, "Icier even.."

"It's part of my me," Jeremiah admitted quietly, "and I could've changed it to go away but ..." He shook his head, turning to press his lips to Algie's temple lightly. It was part of him and he never really minded anymore, not with the other with him.

"Let's work on revoking our consent on these and then clean up and ... meet with Silk." Another kiss pressed to Algie's hair and it was time to get started.

They had done it, it was done.
