Leila sighed, a little dejectedly. Sorry. I still don't understand this. Not that she understood much of anything these days, or so she felt, but that wasn't a topic she was going to broach with the colony.
Do you want to help me understand this? Otherwise I can stop asking about it.

Right. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't imposing.
Leila thought for a moment. This was of an older time before the Charter... and the Burning Man, it seemed from her scrying, had wanted to go there. Maybe leaving the Charter undone would have set the whole world back to the way it was.
Then she attempted to untangle the bugs' words again. Were they talking about the stars... the sun? It almost seemed like they were talking about a photoperiod.
Time passed differently before the Charter? she guessed.
