He had followed her. Jhana wasn’t sure how, or why, but she had caught glimpses of the strange stallion watching her through the trees. It didn’t matter where she went or who was with her, he was never far behind. She hadn’t made it home yet, but she was beginning to think that that was where she should go. It would be safe there. She could tell her parents and Revyra, or Hayagriva, or Shrivatsa, or anyone really and they would keep her safe. One thing was certain, she wasn’t safe here.
She could feel the back of her neck prickling, a sure sign that she was being watched. Jhana had only stopped for the night to sleep, eat, and get something to drink. She had been enjoying her trip away from the herd. Her father had been enthusiastic about her desire to see more of the world. Jhana turned slowly trying to spot her unwanted shadow. She didn’t want to see much more of the world if he was going to be there.

She’d tried to leave him in the desert, it made him sad. He hadn’t been able to sleep that first night. He just kept thinking of her, how pretty she’d been. He’d seen which way she’d flown off and had followed after even before the sun had come up. He wanted to see her again. He wanted to know her scent better than the faint whispers of it he’d gotten on his rock. It had taken time to find her, a lot of time, but she hadn’t gone home like she’d said she needed to. She was always moving from place to place looking at things. It made it hard to follow her, but it was always worth it no matter how long it took him to catch back up.
He’d found her again just last night. He’d watched her while she slept and gone to hunt for her before the sun came up. She was always moving, she must be hungry, he certainly was but the rabbit he carried was for her, not him. Cleto found her standing by a clear pool, drinking. So pretty. He didn’t move, just watched with the rabbit in his mouth. He didn’t know how to get it to her. She always flew away when he got to close. He wished she had slept longer so he could have left it for her while she slumbered. That would have been best.
