What a glorious morning it was turning out to be! The sun had risen up over the edge of Pride Rock in the distance and it was just begging her to come out and play around in the soft grass of her beloved pride! Except no one else was around!

Dancing after a butterfly that had stopped on a blade of grass in search of water, Mahina pawed after it's dizzying trail and giggled to herself as she did, happy to find something to keep her occupied for a short time while the rest of her family slept in. How boring! At least the butterfly seemed to understand as it danced through the air and felt the breeze on it's wings. Oh how she wished that she could fly so that everything below her would be in sight and she could pick out the best place to play. Travelling would be fun too!

Laughing happily at the thought of flying through the skies the dark little cub, touched by what appeared to be moonlight and water courtesy of her mother, flopped onto her back and held her front paws up towards the sun. Lazily, the butterfly landed on the end of her nose and elicited another happy giggle before floating away from her and towards some semblance of peace. Not that she was finding any currently! A quick glance back towards the mouth of her family's den told her that none were rising just yet.

"Come oooonnnn!" Her head dropped backwards onto the ground as Mahina let her paws go limp. "It's too pretty to stay asleep!"

If none of them awoke soon she would end up racing out on a morning adventure to the river and see how they would like her then! Despite being born in the pride she had discovered early on that it was simply massive and wanderlust had taken over from there, though it was curtailed by her family expressly forbidding her to go and run off to places quite unknown while she was so tiny. Well she would show them someday. Mahina was going to grow up big and strong and see every corner of every border that the Pridelands had to offer, maybe even some from beyond the borders! Certainly she didn't want to leave for an extended period of time, but just the thought of seeing the rest of the prides out there and meeting new friends had her sighing happily.

To be a cub with so much to look forward to and so many plans, some would admire it and others had laughed. Mahina made certain to remember those that laughed so she could laugh back at them when she returned as a daring explorer!
