The Tiny Terror: 20 HP Esperance Brightblade: 50 HP
Esperance didn't understand why a big hulking hippogryph like the Forgemaster couldn't find the time to take care of a simple little rabbit on his own, but hey -- gold was gold. She wasn't going to complain. Roll her eyes a little when he wasn't looking? Sure. But no complains. Maybe he'd be so kind as to provide her with a dagger or two for her troubles -- hers were getting rusty, but that was the problem with hand-me-downs; you just didn't know how well their previous owners took care of their blades. Ah, well. With any luck, she'd be getting a new set soon enough.
Following the trail the old hippogryph set her on, it's not long before Esper finds herself approaching the entrance to the forest, supposedly where this "evil" rabbit was known to lurk. She clicked her tongue and puffed out a sigh before beginning her search. Hopefully this wouldn't take too long. Maybe she could kill just any old rabbit and bring back the pelt -- the Forgemaster wouldn't notice, right? He'd be too busy to check for himself -- ha! A rustle behind her pulled her back out of her musings, and just as she turned to see what it was, a seemingly ball of white fluff leaped towards her from the ground.
Reflexes kicking in, Esper bounded to the side out of the way, the fluff ball narrowly missing its target. She was able to get a better look now that it had landed back on the ground again. It definitely had two long ears, a set of sharp buck teeth, beady little black eyes and, to top off the look, a little cotton tail. It would've been downright cute, if it hadn't been for the blood on it's face. Or maybe it was just berry juice -- yeah, that seemed much more likely. Its ears were twitching wildly, though, as if it were angry. Well, it was starting to seem like there was real work to be done here after all. She guessed the old Forgemaster wasn't so senile, then. Who knew?
The rabbit stared hard at Esper as it debated its next move, waiting to see if she would attack first -- but when she didn't, it darted towards her again with gnashing teeth, going for her legs. Esper swiped out with her paw and knocked the rabbit aside, pouncing after it as it tumbled away, clawing at the small thing twice more. She almost felt bad, but it was clearly deranged and a danger to the innocent lives around here. She couldn't spare it. Before she could try and crush it beneath her paws, the rabbit bounced away a few feet to catch its breath and escape her claws. Esper gave chase after it; she didn't want to give the rabbit time enough to escape. She was fast, but she wasn't sure she could keep up with a small rabbit, especially if it had a little lair somewhere nearby it could hide it. She wasn't very keen on having to dig the thing out.

As Esper neared the rabbit again, it took another flying leap at her. She attempted to jump aside, but the rabbit only latched onto one of her hind legs instead, singing its teeth in. With a cry of shock, Esper kicked out with her hind legs to try and throw the rabbit off. It took a few times, bucking and snarling until, finally, the rabbit lost its grip and was tossed back onto the ground. Well, this was definitely the hardest time she'd ever had trying to kill a rabbit. To be fair, the other rabbits she's hunted weren't damn well feral like this one. She hoped to end this quickly. Judging by the injuries the rabbit already had, it shouldn't be too hard. Esper swiped out again, claws scraping along the rabbit's soft fur, trying to pin it down so she could snap her jaws shut around its body. It darted around, in and out between her legs, nipping at her heels and ankles, causing little spots of blood to seep into Esper's fur.

Esper's lips curled up in a snarl -- this was starting to get annoying. And painful, like being stabbed repeatedly by tiny little knives. Finally, she managed to swipe the rabbit aside with her hind paw, putting a brief stop to the tiny little bits scattered all over her lower legs. When Esper pounced again, the rabbit darted -- out of breath -- between her feet, tumbling clumsily over its own paws. Disoriented, when it tried to jump back into the fight, the rabbit ran headfirst into a rock instead. It staggered back, stunned, and that's when Esper swooped in for the final strike -- she scooped up the rabbit into her teeth and snapped its neck quickly. It may have been feral, may have attacked her, but Esper didn't want the poor wild thing to suffer. She was a hunter, not a heartless murderer.

For how many times she'd had to claw at the rabbit, the pelt was in no shape to bother skinning. She was reluctant to eat it, too, after the unusually violent behavior it had displayed. Oh, well. Maybe the old Forgemaster would want to do something with it. Otherwise, she would bury the body so at least its spirit could get some rest.
She took a moment to tend to her wounds; she'd have to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn't become infected, but overall, they weren't serious. Esper rubbed a healing salve along her wounds before wrapping them up tight with some white bandages to keep them from bleeding any more, and to keep the salve pressed up against the injuries. She thought about drinking the elixer the Forgemaster had given her, but decided to save it for later, just in case. She'd just have to take the journey back to the Forge slowly so as not to irritate the injuries further.
Draping the rabbit over her back to carry back as proof of completing the job, Esper began to head back south to get her pay -- and hopefully a nice drink of mead.
