The day of the club fair was finally here, and Ava was beyond excited. First and foremost, it fell on Spirit Day: the spookiest day of the year. There was no weird haunted mansion or spooky dance going on, but being able to recruit some new people into the Battle Club sounded like it would be a whole lot of fun. She, Cyril, and the other Battle Club members spent a whole lot of time designing a spooky gym-maze for the first years to go through. With twisting turns and spooks all along the way, the Battle Club maze held an eerie aura if you weren't familiar with it. They started at one end of the room and carefully made their way to the various arena set aside for battles to be done. Along the way, people would battle trainers until they eventually made their way to the vampire gym leader: Ava! This year, Ava would be the "gym leader" at the end, challenging people to 1v1 battles with any of her pokemon. Win or lose, they could definitely join the battle club!
This year, Ava was dressed up as a vampire, complete with fake fangs and a cape. Last year, she had been a Ninjask, which was super fun. "This is going to be so cool!" she said to her pokemon. They all seemed pretty excited; it had been a while since any of them got to battle someone. However, the day was only beginning and Ava had absolutely no clue when someone would try and go through their spooky scary maze. Or, how long it might take them to get to the gym leader! Ava more or less knew the maze by heart (and even if she got a little lost, she could manuever between the fabric walls in order to swiftly exit), but she imagined that some first years could get lost in there forever! Regardless, she sat on the floor of her arena. "Fritz, could you keep an eye on the door for us, please?"she asked. The tiny electric mite jumped up, scuttling up the wall and peering at the door. A tiny yellow speck spying on the world. She just wanted to know when challengers might be approaching, and a microscopic pokemon could do so with ease!

𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ "Mimikyu..." Ashley made her way down the hallway of the school, garbed as one of her dream pokemon to catch, a Mimikyu! She heard they were super tough so she probably wouldn't see one for quite some time. Still, one could hope! Using her experience playing and being raised by Pokemon, the child would wandered around with no real clue of what to do or experience first. Not many had found her super cool costume all that fun. Some were really creeped out or ran from her. It was...sad. Is that what the man that kept trying to get her to talk said so? Maybe. The girl eventually stumbled across the battle arena little thing and stuck her head inside. It was..spooky! Just in time for the holidays! Sweet! The child hurried inside with glee and looked around for where to start.

Time rolled by and it was club fair already. The entire academy was buzzing with excitement. Cyril spotted students in costume on the way to the classroom they refurnished into their fake gym. It was hard to tell who is who when they were all dressed up like this. His own simply bandaged up look for example covered most of his face but his eyes and loose around his mouth. He somewhat regretted his choice of costume. This was restricting and he had to be mindful of his step so as not to trip. Hopefully he wouldn't be doing any kind of running.
Cyril walked into the dimly lit maze, a strong light shined from overhead to highlight the starting place. Cyril paid it no mind as he continued walking deeper into the maze, careful of the prop placed here and there. The darkness would make it hard for challenger who attempted this maze what with how sparsely light was used here. They were meant to provide minimum lighting and if the dark appeared darker in contrast was an added touch. There were many path, but eventually they would need to pass a certain point where a 'gym trainer' would await. He had memorized the path, being present during the planning and traversing the place when it was fully lighted. Unlike their 'gym leader', he had to walk through the normal way without any shortcut that he could use.
The place he was assigned to was the first path. It was a wider path than normal to allow for pokemon battle if still only wide enough for 5 people to stand side by side. Among the decoration was a lone wooden coffin that he could hide himself in, for now, he chose to stand beside it, silent like he was part of the props. His pokemon, Ragnar made himself comfortable behind a fake boulder.

Somewhere a loud speaker blared, "We welcome our first challenger of the day! Come, come, find your way through our maze guarded by monsters! Beware and defend yourself if you wish to advance!"

𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The loudspeaker had taken Ashley by complete surprise. She looked around for the source of the voice but none seemed to take form before her. She wandered into the maze while conting to moan the occasional "Mimiiiiii..." If anybody was in here, it would be her goal to spook them harder than the maze ever could! A bunch of fake rocks and stuff wasn't scary. She could totally do better here! The first year would soon stumble across the hiding spot of Cyril, continuing forward as her arms swing away. "Mimikyu."
Noticing the coffin, Ashley would investigate further, looking at the shape with a rather inquisitive stare.

Cyril was getting bored of waiting around. He had moved position from standing to sitting to standing again. Though the darkness was meant to help them hide, it also hamper their ability to spot their challenger. He had to scanned empty hall over and over lest he missed his challenger that would be embarrassing if it happened. Tens of minute felt like hours. Cyril finally saw their challenger, a figure wearing what seemed like pikachu hood or something, he wasn't sure what it was suppose to be. No matter, there's work to be done. He froze like a statue where he was standing, drumming of his heartbeat sounded loud while he waited in anticipation. Just a little closer . . . and . . . he leaped to bar her way. "GrAAAAaaaa!" He shouted out loud. (That was kind of embarrassing to do.)
A metal blur darted out moment later. "Arooo!" Ragnar cried out his battle cry, turning toward their challenger and stamping his short forelegs. "Intruders . . . You will.not.passs!" Cyril declared, making sure to drag the word somewhat to fit his current costume. "Iii...and my fellow sentinel...challenge yooou to a battle," he continued magnanimously.

𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Ashley couldn't see much of anything in the depths of this place. Darkness surrounded her while she walked along the path and looked around as best she could. Her yellow hood bounced along in the darkness over her head while her hair was tucked beneath all nice and smooth. The sound of something bounced out from the darkness. Ashley jumped back as the thing spoke! A blur came from her right as a pokemon was near. It was some type of dog? It howled at least. Her hand reached for her pokeball as she called out Dusk, the pokemon announcing itself with an eerie "Ghaaaaaaastly".
So this thing wanted a fight, huh? Ashley would happily oblige! She and Dusk stood close, ready for a fight.

Ragnar's challenge was answered by a ghastly that Cyril hadn't noticed before. The disembodied form blended well with curtain of darkness surrounding them. It promised a tricky battle ahead. He approved. "Nice choice. You are more fit for this spooky place than us. Maybe you want to join us?" he teased, briefly breaking his act. He took a moment to hear her reply, then made a casual wave to make sure his aron is still paying attention before he spoke a command, "Ragnar, mud slap." Cyril judged that they would need to be more aggressive and not let the ghastly any chance to pull up any trick. A rock tomb would have been better, but he wasn't sure that they would have space for it.
The aron dashed forward, his metallic back reflecting light. Both his forelegs glowed for preparation to sweep up a pile of mud.

𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▇▇ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Ashley did like the sound of joining with the spooky place here. It reminded her of her home, a much better time in her life. She missed being with all of her ghostly pokemon friends, even the bug ones. A pang of melancholy rang in her heart before she snickered to herself in a threatening manner, going back into her act. "Mimiku~" The battle began as the agron standing by the boy would receive his order for the fight. Ashley would do the same, pointing at the pokemon. "Duhhk! Hyyypo!" They weren't actual words but the Ghastly would jump into action, facing the opponent as he would stare for a moment before his eyes would begin to swirl around. "Ghaaaaaaastly"
