By the time that Wren and Nutmeg had made it to the forest-covered base of the mountain, the Channeler found himself assaulted by a walking mandrake. Oddish's first reaction to it's space being encroached upon was to shake it's leaves aggressively and scatter a toxic pollen all around it. Nutmeg hopped down to the ground and danced around in the purple pollen for a moment, leaving Oddish confused as to what she was up to. In it's confusion, it attempted to fire a weak Moonblast, intending to warn those who'd infringed upon it's space, but lost control of the energy as it was formed, the blast exploding in it's own face.
"Nutmeg, use Zen Headbutt!" Wren called out, covering his mouth and nose with his shirt as he did. He didn't feel like the pollen was affecting him but better to be safe than dead. "Sweet!" Nutmeg chirruped in response to Wren's command and leaped toward Oddish with Psionic energy coating her sepals. She collided with the mandrake's face hard but the resultant bounce of it landed her squarely atop it's leaves, where it proceeded to Tickle her until she was able to bounce herself free. "Hey! Play Nice, you two!" Wren called out. Nutmeg paused, still laughing from the tickling and properly introduced herself to Oddish, who seemed receptive to the proper introduction and the apology for the intrusion presented with it.
The two Pokemon sat down together for a moment as Oddish used Moonlight, recovering some of the damage dealt and allowing Nutmeg to bask in the soft light emanating from somewhere above, though she received no benefit. The little fruit's Aromatic Mist spread around the immediate area as the pair relaxed but neither seemed to be benefiting from it's effect, either. Wren, however, was a bit dumbfounded. They'd been bitter enemies just a few moments ago and now it was like they were best friends? "What is going on here?" He asked as he pulled a Safari Ball from his pocket. He'd have preferred a Nest Ball and would likely transfer Oddish to one at a later date if he managed to catch it. Figuring he may as well take the chance now, he loosely tossed the ball toward Oddish just to see if it would contain the currently relaxed Pokemon.
And just like that, Wren had a new Oddish, the Safari Ball barely even moving as Oddish was contained within it.
