xxxASTRONOMY ~ Axxx
- ■ It's not that Byron is bad at this class exactly; it's just that he has certain expectations on him, and those expectations mean he has to do well in certain things. If a class isn't under that header, he didn't have time to worry about it. Still, it would be completely unacceptable for him to fail even one exam, so he applied himself well enough to pass.
xxxCHARMS ~ EExxx
- ■ Charms was an area where Byron was naturally gifted. However, in light of his need to do well on exams where he wasn't quite so gifted, he allowed himself to slack off a little when preparing for this one. As such, his grade dipped ever so slightly.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Axxx
- ■ Of all the courses he performed poorly in, this was the one that trouble Byron the most. It's not that he needs the knowledge and skill for any future career (he can just imagine the look on his father's face if he said he wanted to be anything so uncouth as an Auror), but generally speaking being good at this sort of magic is a mark of prestige. Unfortunately for him, he's not good at it at all, and had to work quite hard just to pass.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Oxxx
- ■ Byron is quite gifted at Herbology. He likes plants and doesn't mind getting dirty if it's going to have a reward. Healthy plants are quite tangible as rewards go, and so he was very intent on doing well in the class. The professor is also his Head of House, so there was some pressure to not be a complete screw up, especially after the drinking incident.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Oxxx
- ■ Byron scarcely even had to pay attention in this class to pass it; wizarding history had been drummed into his skull from birth, so intently that he could probably recite the major events of the first and second wizarding wars in his sleep. It never even entered his head to consider this course anything less than a top priority, considering his upbringing. After all, those who fail to learn from their history are doomed to repeat it.
xxxPOTIONS ~ EExxx
- ■ If there is one thing Byron likes, it's results; this course was one where the results were immediately obvious, and required attention to detail. While he isn't as naturally gifted in it as he is with some other things, he is none the less a perfectly adequate potioneer. He didn't spend too much time worrying about the exam, but it wasn't hard to get a good score anyway.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Axxx
- ■ Byron's love of results was a double edged sword here; if he failed, he became frustrated, which only beget more failure. Since it was rather difficult not to fail the first few goes, he tended to fail a lot. If he could take a breather and get some space, he could come back and manage alright, but this wasn't always an option. Certainly not on the exam. So, while he managed to pass, it wasn't anything impressive.

xxxARITHMANCY ~ EExxx
- ■ Byron isn't naturally gifted when it comes to anything to do with numbers. That said, being bad at this class wasn't an option, so he had to apply himself extra hard to do well at it. He isn't particularly fond of it, but then, he's not particularly fond of a lot of things that he's obligated to dedicate himself to.
xxxART ~ Oxxx
- ■ Of all his courses, this is the only one Byron took for himself and not out of obligation. Actually, his father was extremely upset that he took it at all, but Byron didn't let that stop him. He was fortunate that his mother was able to argue the culture and history angle. He's a skilled artist, if something of a perfectionist, and did very well both in class and on the exam.
xxxHEALING ~ Axxx
- ■ To put it kindly, Byron has the bedside manner of an irate pixie functioning on too little sleep. He's not a particularly caring person, and it's hard for him to perform magic that requires him to help another person simply because he doesn't really care all that much. He tries, of course, but it's just not in him. The technical skill is there, but he doesn't do a very good job of applying it.
xxxMYTHOLOGY ~ Oxxx
- ■ Like history, this was a course for which Byron came exceptionally prepared. He already knew a fair amount of the course material, though not so much so as in history. Still, this was one of the courses that was considered obligatory for him, and he was required to excel at it, so he did. It helped that mythology in particular was heavily connected to art, so there was crossover that he appreciated between the two.
xxxSTUDY OF ANCIENT RUNES ~ Oxxx
- ■ Byron is fairly skilled with languages, and this was another of the courses he was required by his father to take and do well at. He studied hard to perform well on this exam, despite not being overly interested in the class himself.
xxxWANDLORE STUDIES ~ EExxx
- ■ This was a course Byron took out of curiosity more than anything else, although it was certainly one his parents considered to be a useful thing to have. He would never be allowed to go into wandmaking as a trade, of course, but understanding wands and how they worked was specialized knowledge. He found it interesting, if nonsensical at times. Mostly he struggled with the woods, since he couldn't fathom why different trees would have different personalities.
xxxWIZARD LAW ~ EExxx
- ■ Byron had no real skill or interest when it came to this class. However, as far as his father was concerned, it was the top priority. Byron struggled with studying for it, but he applied himself more strictly here than anywhere else. Unfortunately, his efforts weren't enough to earn him an O, or even a particularly high EE.
