Personality:
Chiara is a very energetic and optimistic teen. She prides herself in looking to the brighter side of things, even when the situation appears to be hopeless and grim. She’s friendly, often seeking new company and finding ways to get along with as many people as she can. One could easily say that she is naive and friendly to a fault, but she firmly believes that change and good will comes to those who keep a kind heart.
Chiara loves Pokémon dearly and refers to them as she would her own friends. She is often considered a Pokémon whisperer due to her talent for soothing and taming Pokémon with gentle words and tender care. Some of the most challenging and unruly Pokémon have relaxed under her affection.
Though she comes off as a very happy and positive person, Chiara does have her more serious sides. She prefers to hide her negative feelings and thoughts, but can occasionally be overcome with anxiety and nervous habits. She would rather focus on the good things in her life than dwell too much on the past or any major mistakes she’s made.
Background:
Chiara Marzo came from the chilly town of Dendemille, living alone with her mother since she was small. Her father left when she was young, leaving home one day for an unknown reason before disappearing and never returning. No one had heard from him or found out where he had gone off to and his disappearance raised many questions that were never answered. He left not only his wife and daughter behind, but a Minccino named Latte that he had bred just for Chiara to have when she was ready to go out and become a trainer herself.
Chiara had always assumed that he left for an important reason; since he was a trainer back in Unova years ago, she always figured that he had gone home to handle some kind of business he left unfinished. However, her mother assumed the worst, claiming him to be flaky and afraid of having a family and raising a child, leaving her to carry the burden alone.
The absence of her husband left Chiara’s mother cold and harsh, and she often blamed Chiara for his disappearance. She would snark that maybe if she hadn’t had a child, she wouldn’t have lost the one person in her life that cared about her most. Her harsh words and actions were taken out on Chiara constantly, condescending her and overworking her as a way to “get back” at her own daughter for issues that possibly weren’t even her own cause. The final straw was pulled when Chiara turned sixteen, and after a very rough situation with her mother, she had decided that she couldn’t stay home any longer. Packing a bag and bringing along her beloved Latte, Chiara had ran away from home, disappearing into the night and never to return again.
Wherever her father was, she was sure that he was out there somewhere and he was sure to find her again someday. Chiara couldn’t sit idly by, waiting for her missing father to come back to her and save her from the horrible home he left behind. No, from that day forward, Chiara decided that it was time that she changed her life for the better. She would find a purpose for herself, a reason for being and help those who needed her the way she wish she could have been helped herself. The world was too vast for her to stay trapped, and Chiara was going to get out, meet new people, and help them however she could; just like her father did.
