Sootpelt kneaded his claws into the dirt below him as he rolled his shoulders. He was grateful to the other for the practice, and readied himself for the lunge at the other.

Wildstripe nodded respectfully to the other tom before they began. A new opponent; time to see what he could do.

A medium hit; respectable and measured. His tail whipped to the side to help arrest his momentum and maintain balance as he sprang back at the other.

Sootpelt rolled his shoulder with the attack, just managing to get nicked by it as the cat lunged by. He grinned in appreciation for the attack. This other was smooth with his movements. He turned with the attack and attempted to lash out at the other's side.

Ouch! Wildstripe had misread the other tom's movements and dodged INTO the attack instead of away from it. He staggered, but tried to quickly regain his footing to counter. Show no weakness!

Sootpelt tried to keep from grinning at the tom as he side stepped the other's attack. He just could recall the days when another cat had done all the same attack to him and instead of dodging appropriately he had head smacked the other. He shook his head trying to rid himself of the memories and instead go in for another attack.

Good going, Wildstripe. He couldn't get distracted berating himself, however, as the other tom certainly wasn't backing down. Can't look back, just keep looking forward. Attempting to read Sootpelt's intentions a bit better this time, Wildstripe prepared then struck!

Now it was Sootpelt's turn to be thrown by the other's attack. He thought he had the upper paw and was dishing it out, but in a flurry the other managed to sweep him. He attempted to claw back at the other, but found his attack wanting. Instead he backed up, panting from the effort, and waited for the other's next attack. He at least still had some more in him!

A brief moment of reprieve, then back to it. Wildstripe took just a moment to shake out his fur, then bounded forwards with a feint. He didn't strike yet, testing Sootpelt's reactions while looking for an opening before he struck!

Sootpelt blinked at the other's antics. Was he attacking? Oh, no? Was that one? He stepped lightly off to the side as the other came at him, and instead turned on the other male with teeth barred. He was happily taking advantage of the other's slip!
