CMI is a Christ-centred ministry defending the authority of the Bible right from the beginning. The Bible written before Christ (the Old Testament) pointed to His First Coming (‘Advent’): God the Creator taking on human nature to die for our sins, then conquer death. One important part of the “God-breathed” scriptures (see The authority of Scripture) is the book of Isaiah, which has many important prophecies about the coming Messiah (for example, see Isaiah 9:6–7: The coming Child who would be called ‘Mighty God’, and the suffering Servant of Isaiah 53). The prophet’s name itself, in Hebrew יְשַׁעְיָהוּ Yeshayahu, means “salvation of YHWH” or “YHWH saves”. Jerome (c. 342–420), who translated the Old Testament from Hebrew into Latin, said in his preface to his commentary on Isaiah:

He was more of an Evangelist than a Prophet, because he described all of the Mysteries of the Church of Christ so vividly that you would assume he was not prophesying about the future, but rather was composing a history of past events.

But precisely because Isaiah has such accurate predictions about the future, liberals have attacked its authenticity. Well of course, predicting the future is impossible—for those with a dogma against miracles and who ignore that a God who created time itself would know the future. There have also been a number of headlines claiming that scholars have proven that the book has been radically changed.
