Shining brilliantly over the lake, the afternoon sun reflected its rays off the water as it began to set. Bright colors of pink, orange and purple streaked the skies, mirroring in the water's glasslike surface. There was not a ripple in sight, everything was calm and peaceful. This was how he preferred it. He had not seen another soul in at least a decade or more, choosing to hide away in the depth of the forest at the base of the mountain. and yet a part of him longed for the company of others. He had been alone for so long. Ever since she left him....
His coat was a brilliant red, but it was not as bright and shiny as it once was, his black mane long and unkept. His crimson eyes foretold a story of heartbreak and sadness. They no longer twinkled or sparkled with life. He sighed softly as he watched the sunset, lost in thoughts and memories from a life that seemed like it was just a mere dream now.... It was here he would spend hours every night, until he could no longer hold his eyes open. |

The soft ping of chain and metal clinked off each other as seafoam colored hooves pressed against the ground, framed by soft black wisps of fur. Double white wings were folded gently against her side as her dual colored tail flickered in the sinking sunlight. Twilight was her favorite time, when the colors danced in the sky, reds becoming purples becoming blues and the mischievous stars came out to play.
Glowing seafoam gaze peered into the waters as she lowered her muzzle for a cooling drink. She smiled, feeling the waters wash over her throat. It was going to be another lovely night for star gazing, or so she thought to herself. She would have moved on but something in the waters reflections caught her eye. Something that wasn't her lack and green shimmering coat. Something more.... red.
Glancing up, her glowing gaze narrowed on the sight of a downtrodden looking stallion, his mane a mass of tangles, his visage weary. She couldn't help but feel pain looking at him and knew he needed distraction.
"Your heart weighs heavily, what troubles you Stallion?" she called out softly.
