A young stallion leaned in exhaustion against a tree, staring up at the night sky. Three sets of black wings were folded on his back, all but concealing him from view. He felt... adrift. There was nowhere to go and no one to see. In truth, Asterion hardly knew anyone. And the night... the night was dangerous. Perhaps it would have been safer to have perched in a sturdy tree, but here he was. If a walker found him, then he would have to merely flee as swiftly as he could, and there was no guarantee of success. Why that shade, in particular, loomed over him, he could not say, yet loom it did.

User ImageThis was the longest the stallion had spent away from his family, and he couldn't help but be thrilled. The call of the unknown beckoned him, and while he wasn't ready to leave the protection of his family permanently or for long, Himeros had found himself out far later than he should have been. Night had long since fallen, but that didn't bother Himeros -- he enjoyed the night, with the pretty stars painted above the Kawani, and the bright moon to light his way wherever he chose to roam. While he knew the stories of walkers and other nasty beasts from his father's ballads and epic tales, Himeros was young enough to feel he could take on anything.

Surely, he had not one, but two sets of wings to allow him to take flight should danger arise; he also had speed, health, agility, and, in his opinion, his own good looks to help charm himself out of danger. Indeed, Himeros felt little fear as he glided over the winter plains. While he knew he would need to return to his family's side sooner than later, for now, he wanted to enjoy his freedom. For all the danger there might be out in the wilds, there was also great adventure, great legends, and stories to tell, strangers to meet. Himeros wanted so badly to meet others, for his family was large--the spirits had seen to it that he was blessed with many brothers and sisters--and while he loved them all, he also knew them. There was no element of surprise when it came to his siblings. He knew their names, ther stories, their history--for it was much like his own.

No, Himeros wanted to be a wandering bard, just like his father--a weaver of tales, and a hero to go down in history. Unfortunately, one couldn't practice his barding or his heroics when there was no one around but family, so the young stallion had taken wing and spirited away. Worse, his adventures had yielded no one but a few animals and some hills and trees. The stallion was just about to give up when his eyes did finally land on something bright--or at least, a color that was quite unnatural for the wintertime surroundings.

Tweaking the angle of his flight, Himeros glided closer to the source, when much to his delight, he realized he was looking down upon some stranger. It was difficult to tell who they were--especially as they were all but shrouded in the shadow of a tree--but it was terribly difficult to hide that bright splash of yellow, even this late at night. Throwing caution to the wind, Himeros circled once, before dropping down into the snowscape nearby. He gave a long, languid stretch of his wings, and turned his head just so, even as he tried to get a peek of the hidden stranger.

"Nice night, don't you think?" He asked amiably, hoping the other might be feeling sociable.
