As Taz lay in bed, his arms carefully folded behind his head he could hear the not so distant roars of cheer ring out through the night. He gazed out the window, a glow lining the tops of tree's of the forest parallel to his home. It sounded like he was missing all the fun. It was unusual not to have heard the whispers of an event this big on the lips of passersby or the chittering among sprites and spirits. He pursed his lips and pushed against the bedding in to an upright position, contemplating his next move.

What was he waiting for? He wasn't currently doing anything productive while lying in bed and why would he want to simply stay here when there were partying to be had and interesting people to meet? That settled it. He rummaged his hands through his hair until he was satisfied with its appeal, threw on his jacket, grabbed some wares for trade and then trotted out the front door.

One thing he hadn't anticipated when heading out was how far it actually was to that glow among the canopy. Taz blew out a stressed pocket of breath, strained from the distance covered in such a short amount of time however his efforts hadn't been in vain since stretched out before him were tents, lights and the hustle and bustle of festival goers. His lips spread in to a wide grin and he clasped his hands together before excitedly throwing them in to the air.

"WOO. Lets get this party started!" He cheered, thankfully there were a number of folk of all different character, trades and styles that his energetic outburst was mute in comparison. First things first he thought letting his eyes wander loosely among the stalls until they landed on the one he sought. Beside it were table and seating arrangements all centered around a makeshift stage for entertainment purposes. He casually strolled up to the counter where the tender tapped their fingers impatiently on the top. "What'll it be?" They grunted, their eyes never once focusing him but instead they were directed towards the stage.

"What do you recommend?" He asked curiously, honored by a brief look before the tender went to work their magic. While he waited for his drink he watched and listened to the musicians playing on the stage.

The cool air finally gave way to fall. And to say it was a welcomed relief would be understatement. Kanza had worked hard making hunting bows and arrows all summer long because come fall the feastival would take place where he knew he could trade for winter supplies to hunters in need of a new bow. It took a lot to make the bows strong and worthy of a hunter but Kanza had had a great teacher. The feastival is a welcomed event as well for the sheer fact that Kanza enjoyed seeing all the things others would bring for trade and not just the best foods you ever tasted. Each year it was different and each year Kanza would pick one item that served no purpose but to be pleasing to his eyes.

Gathering up his bundles of goods he headed out for his home. It would be a day's trout to the feastival and as it was he would not make it there until dark. He would have to hope for a place to set up his trade items too since he was leaving so late. But he could not have left any earlier. With a sigh he locked his door and headed out. The journey was uneventful though he did come across others traveling to the same event, he didn't spend time talking to them he was on a mission. He heard the feastival long before he saw it but when it finally came into view he could see the herds had outdone themselves with lighting and music, which added to the excitement of it all. Though no one would be able to tell if Kanza was excited or not. He was still very good at hiding his emotions and keeping his face very neutral.

Trouting into the feastival,Kanza could see that this year's event was much larger than the last. "There is no way I'll be able to set up like last year." He thought with disappointment. Kanza continued to walk about only having some hope that he might find a sliver of room for his tent. But he soon gave up on that as well. Making his way to the closest tender he decided he may as well have a warm cider and some soap before starting his search again. The tender gave him a nod and asked what he would like. Kanza replied "Hot cider for me thank you." He wasn't sure if this was a place to get his meal but by the look the tender had, Kanza was not going to ask either.

Once his drink was in hand, Kanza turned to look at his surroundings and those about. His eyes landed on a colorful centaur that he had not seen before. He wasn't sure why but when the centaur looked at him he gave a smile and nod of acknowledgement and welcome. That action alone made Kanza frown into his cup and smell the contents of it. The smell of fermentation filled his nose and he knew that drink he had was a hard hot cider which was not what had wanted. Setting the cup down he left it unfinished as he watched the room.

When the music climaxed and came to it's end a thunder of applause erupted from the audience, including Taz who more than enthusiastically slapped his palms together and then curled two fingers towards his mouth to whistle in appreciation for the entertainment. It was then he heard the kathunk of his drink hit the counter top which caused his head to sharply turn and give a precarious smile in thanks to the less than amused stall owner.

Cupping his drink, the immediate smell of cinnamon burned his nostrils and he couldn't help but give his nose a little wiggle in retaliation. Had it only been his drink that was cinnamon flavoured it would have been less than overwhelming on the senses but because this festival was a seasonal one, celebrating the beginning of fall and it's journey towards winter, almost everything had hint of cinnamon to it. He lifted his drink to take a sip, his eyes wandering over to a newcomer who nodded his way in acknowledgement. Taz grinned in response, lifting his cup in to the air to return the kind taur's welcoming gesture though the others expression didn't entirely express his satisfaction for whatever he had ordered.

"Another, for my friend here." He called to the lady, pointing at his drink. He wondered if cinnamon butter rum was more to this fellows liking. "What brings you out here?" He asked, genuinely curious of their reasons. He took another sip of the sweet beverage as he waited for their response.

Kanza softly clapped his hands for the musicians more out of habit that because he liked them. Honestly he preferred the sounds of the trees and the woods as his music but he could appreciate the effort and patients it took to learn how to play. For that reason he clapped to them.

Turning around to the bar he noticed the centaur he had smiled at before had not only moved closer but also had ordered him a drink. He found this to be a common thing among their culture but he was not used to it himself. Being an outsider in a herd he was often not treated like others. "Thank you kindly." he smiled and tipped his glass in the air like they were clinking cups. Smelling the drink first, Kanza was more cautious then he had been before his first drink. The smell was sweet but not like liquor, no this has a warm buttery cent with cinnamon. Taking a soft slow sip he tested it out, once he was sure it had not alcohol he took a swallow. More greatful then he had been before he smiled and said "This is good. Much better then my first drink. Thank you." Taking other swallow he set his cup down and answered. "I have come to trade and sell my bows and arrows." He indicated to his bundles still strapped to him. "How about you?" He looked the centuar over but did not see any indication that he was selling anything but maybe this centuar had set up already. (265/1076)

"Hey, don't mention it." Taz grinned in response to the darker taur's thanks though he noted the air of caution in their approach and wondered if the other drink truly had been that awful, he then felt grateful that after leaving his order up to chance the bartender hadn't landed him with the cider too. "I'm glad this one suits your taste better."

It was true this centaur had a keen eye for Taz wasn't particularly skilled in any one area or so he thought and thus didn't have any bespoke creation to trade in a place like this, his talents stretching only as far as being able to chat easily among people, spirits, sprites and creatures alike. He was severely under prepared for the change in seasons and while spring and summer had gone by swiftly without too many issues cropping up, Autumn and Winter were going to pose its own set of challenges... He did however have a handful of crystallized stones for trade, courtesy of the resident sprites.

"I've come to enjoy the company and the festivities. I might take a look around after this drink and see what is for trade, maybe even get a little something to eat." He smiled, drinking a little more from the glass in hand. Hard to imagine anyone could visit this place without grabbing a bite of one if not more of the various seasonal inspired dishes on offer.

At the mention of the other taurs agenda and the accompanying gesture, Taz's eyes slid over to the bow and arrow bundles at the traders side. He wasn't an expert in weaponry or craft but from what he could see the wares he was carrying boasted a high standard in their detail. "Whoaa, did you make these?" He marveled, not wanting to be overly presumptuous.

Kanza gave a nod at the centaurs explanation of being here. It was a beautiful and amazing feastival even just to come and enjoy. Even he could not resist its warm welcome and hearty environment. This festival had been the thing he looked forward to the most after the heat of summer.

A sad smile played at the corners of his face from the memory of his first time here. He looked around in thought about how the warrior had walked in laughing. It was the first time he had seen his mentor laugh for real and not just at him and his mistakes. The smile grew with pride at the memories of his friend. Kanza took a drink of the cup again and remembered he was talking to someone else.

Looking down at his bundle, he gave a nod with a smile. "Yes I did in fact. I was tough the skill by a dear friend." Still after all these years Kanza's heart hurt from the loss of that friend but now was not the time for sad memories only happy ones. "Would you care to see one." he offered never passing up the chance to show the skill he was given off. It was not a boasting thing, or him going in for a sale, he just took pride in the craft itself and loved to share that with others. "My name is Kanza by the way. I think I forgot to say." He reached out his hand to shake the centaur before him. (262/1338 )
