Melin had grown up playing in the shadows but had not the talent for controlling them as the rest of her family did. Her mother was a question mark, not a shred of a memory to be found, but her father told her that she inherited her... unique... physical features from her. The vampire often wondered what her mother might have been like; charming enough to catch her father's eye, certainly, but had she the ability to wield shadows as well? Were she a deceitful creature?
The latter could be easily believable as Melin herself had adapted to using her finest asset to lull prey into a false sense of security, that there was just a deer on the other side of the bush or in the tall grass. Despite her father's many warnings, she did not think much of the opposite situation it could cause; she could easily be mistaken for prey and suddenly on the wrong side of a confused and hungry predator.
It was her own false sense of security that such a thing would never happen that had led her to feel safe enough to bed down in the tall grass and sleep out in the open. Her lithe body was curled inward on herself, large gray tail hiding her face, leaving only her antlers visible. Brown hair cascaded down the length of her curled form, hiding her lavender fur from view. She breathed deeply, slumbering peacefully to whatever sort of dream she found pleasant.

This night had been no different from previous ones. Ravana, for all her eccentricities, was a creature of habit. And her inherited wanderlust didn’t lend her any favors either. Most nights she would wander far from home. Wether out of boredom or hunger. Sometimes both. There was so much going on in all the lives of her family that sometimes she felt quite forgotten and ignored. She craved connection but it was hard sometimes with them. But it wasn’t their fault, they didn’t do it to be malicious. They just all had important things going on. The pink vampire made her way through the forest. Silently gliding along as pink eyes swept side to side. Taking in tonight’s little adventure with a calm sense of ease. She was never afraid to be on her own. No matter what she would eventually come across. It wasn’t until she came across something curious poking out from a bush that she paused. Blinking curiously a few times. Was it a deer? Stuck in a bush? The soft sounds of snoring reaching her ears. Oh it was sleeping. Out here? That was quite dangerous. Maybe she’s just scare it a little and get it to maybe find a better place to sleep. Ravana reached out cautiously for one of the horns. Aware that this was probably stupid as the deer would start and probably panic. “Come on little deer it’s not safe out here for you.” She finally wrapped her fingers around the one horn and gave it a little tug.

Resistence was on the other end of the tug given even if only for a moment. Turquoise eyes snapped open, pupils narrowed into slits at the abrupt reenterance to the waking world. The deer hissed warningly, undoubtedly confirming that this was no deer at all.
A clawed hand lifted only to push back her own hair, remaining quite curled and cozy though her eyes darted wildly in the attempt to process why she was awake. Pupils dialated at the sight of pink fur, trailing up the length of the body. The reflection of moonlight caused her eyes to shine while they settled on the gentle "attacker's" face.
"Pink, mmmn, pretty~" Melin yawned tiredly and slowly uncurled her body. She managed to adjust to be sitting up to smile sleepily at the one who woke her, all with a horn having been held. She did not seem terribly concerned. She had self defense down well between teeth, claws, and the sharp antlers. "Well, hello~" Her voice came out in a purr, one that continued to rumble in her chest.

Ravana had not expected what happened next. All that she thought would, would be the deer might startle and run away. But she most certainly had not expected the horn she still held to be attached to another kat. And from what she could tell another vampire as well. Eyes just about as pink as her fur widened. Forgetting that she was still holding the horn for a moment. She finally released it. “Oh, hello.” Unlike one part of her family Ravana was a lot more subdued. Even her voice now was a bit held back and soft. She didn’t have the in your face personality type that came with being a Ravnos or a Gangrel. So she remained Clanless for that reason alone. “I’m sorry if I disturbed you I thought… well I thought you were a deer sleeping in the bush. There have been more and more werewolf sightings and attacks recently so I didn’t want the deer to get hurt.” She glanced around a little wearily. So many things were in motion. So many things had been woken up that to be honest kept Ravana very wary of her surroundings. Being Clanless too meant she didn’t have many comrades to fall back on if she needed help to. But this one didn’t seem like a threat at least not on the surface. She was quite lovely in fact. The purr rumbling in her chest brought a small smile to her lips.

Melin's ears perked at the lovely sound of this female's voice. Her pupils dilated once more, just for a moment. She did not often hear a softer tone of voice. The men in her family spoke sternly, and the women were not far off from that. Her hands subconsciously moved to her fluffy tail that settled across her lap, fingers kneading into it. "Oh? That is quite alright. I should not spend my life napping away anyhow." The vampire smiled, her expression softening. "That... is just precious. I can appreciate that you wanted to keep me safe~" She understood fully well that this was a case of mistaken identity; she was no deer, and a deer is what the pink one intended to assist. Melin had no reason to believe that her antler still would have been lightly tugged if she had been seen for what she was but this creature was beautiful. It only made sense that she would hope to get a light shaking either way. "I do suppose I should say goodbye to the era of napping outside freely in this shifting world." Melin sighed sadly to herself and slowly stood. She extended her paw to Ravana. "Melin."

The other Vampire’s words confused her for a moment. “I….” Did the other female really believe that she had been wanting to help her specifically? No, no that couldn’t be the case. They didn’t know each other and until recently she had thought she was a deer. So that couldn’t be it. Then talk of naps came and the other seemed a bit sad at the end of being able to sleep outside. Well, sleep outside alone. Even though she was Clanless she still roamed from Kumpania to Kumpania. Never really spending much time by herself alone. Either with mortals or those of her kin. Did this woman not have family like that? Was she always alone? Ravana blinked and took a half step back at the woman stoof and held out her hand. A name attached to it. Melin. Now that Melin was mostly out of the bush Ravana could take her all in. The horns obviously. But her fur was a lovely shade of lavender with touches of gray. To say she wasn’t striking would be an understatement and Ravana found herself staring before she snapped back into reality and took the other vampire’s hand. “Ravana. It’s nice to meet you, Melin. I would certainly say at least don’t nap alone if you are going to nap out here.”

For as sleepy as she appeared, Melin was still observant. She smiled and the rumbling in her chest deepend, output at a louder volume than before. The pink lady had stared and she had caught it though she was at least kind enough to not call immediate attention to it. Her gaze glided down towards their hands and her tail swayed lazily behind her. She was careful to not shake the woman's hand too enthusiastically, begrudgingly releasing it because it was a nice hand to hold. "Ravana~" She rolled the name off her tongue in a warm tone and tilted her head. Was this woman going to keep giving her opportunities to misconstrue the intent behind the words she spoke? Well, far be it from Melin to turn it away. "Oh..? Are you suggesting that we nap together?" There was a quiet, playful chuckle that followed behind her words. "I won't say no.~" Melin expected a similar reaction to the implication that Ravana was out to help her explicitly. Was it mean of her to take these little openings and tease her with them? Perhaps. The vampire did not have the same social etiquette as many others. She knew not of her full lineage but had made up a vision in her head of what her mother had been like. Clanless, Melin had decided, and comfortable nestled away in nature and solitude. It was not as if she could not stay with her grandfather's clan but rather that she had little interest in doing so. She did not fit with them, being alone was a better feeling than that of not belonging in a place where one's entire family thrived.

Ravana’s face blanched. Turning a slightly paler shade of pink as her head turned abruptly. “W-what? Nap together? I didn’t…..you…” If she hadn’t been flustered before she was quite flustered now. It was no secret that he family liked to indulge in such things but she preferred connection first and foremost. Her ears rose and fell a couple of times as her gaze darted around to find something else to focus on. Ah, a tree. Yes that would do. She sucked in a sharp breath and let it out slowly between pursed lips. For a moment she felt dizzy but was able to keep her balance by reaching her arms out to steady herself. This was horrible. The other vampire must have noticed her staring too long. She knew she had stares too long and now here she was blubbering like a fool over having her words twisted just a little bit. What was wrong with her?

The horned vampire only smiled wider at witnessing Ravana's blanching face before it was so rudely turned away from her. Well that was fine, she had witnessed the paling of those cheeks. She could not help but chuckle darkly when the pink vampire struggled to get her words out and seemingly gave up quickly. That was fine too. "Have I embarrassed you?" As if she had not soaked up the image of this beautiful vampire being riled into a flustered state. As if she were not the direct cause of it. A part of her felt proud because she was undoubtedly leaving behind a first impression that would be hard to forget when they inevitably parted ways. Unless the woman got through her flustery state and decided that a cuddle in a bush sounded just lovely. A cuddle being just that. Melin had never indulged in unsavory acts and her family -- aside from her father's tryst with her mysterious mother -- were keen on taking commitment very seriously. It had caused her to wonder a time or two if her father had gotten his heart broken by her mother who did not stay. Was the woman obviously wild and free, did Alefric know she would not be tamed? The young vampire waved the thoughts away as this was not the time to get preoccupied with drawing up stories of who the woman who helped give her life may or may not be. Her gaze had yet to stray from Ravana a single time, the pretty pink lady had her undivided attention. It was cute how Ravana's gaze were shifting rapidly around them, trying to find anything to look at except for Melin herself. When Ravana's arms stretched out to assist in regaining her balance, Melin's brows furrowed and little worried wrinkles produced between them. Her hands reached out and delicately touched against the other vampire's elbows, slender fingers being mindful not to prod her with claws. A pang of guilt that was entirely unfamiliar stung in her chest. Perhaps she had come on a bit too strong. "You should sit down, Ravana..." Turquoise pools finally shifted away from her, glancing to a nearby stump. She couldn't imagine how much worse that pang of guilt would get if the pink vampire were to faint over a little light teasing.

“No I think I’ll be ok.” Her hand had grabbed onto Melin’s arm. This was embarrassing to say the least. Why was this other campire having suck a strange effect of her? She was rather lovely but Ravana had no idea who she really was like. She didn’t seem threatening at all even with the horns. Taking a deep breath she let it out slowly, pursing her lips just slightly as she blew the breath out. Get a hold of yourself, Ravana. Her pink gaze locked with Melin’s and she smiled warmly. “I’m ok now. You just flustered me a little that’s all. I’ve….never napped or cuddled with anyone before…” Her voice went soft towards the end of that statement. One would think since she was an adult now that perhaps she would have some experience with such things but that just was not the case. Maybe she wanted to cuddle. But she’d probably never ask for it. That was too embarrassing to even think about at this point. But if it ever happened she would probably be content and accepting of the cuddles.

Melin's smile faltered when on the receiving end of such a warm expression. If her heart worked as a mortal's did, it would surely be pounding violently in her chest. It was not often that the teasing vampire was stunned by anything. For it to be something so simple made her feel... hm. How did it make her feel? She was not embarrassed or flustered. No, it was something else. Something she couldn't quite put her finger on, but she was aware there was a word for this exact thing. Her luminous gaze swept over Ravana's beautiful face and her lips parted, forcing a soft and unnecessary breath. Smitten. That was the word, wasn't it? The one her father had explained; smitten was a thing one could feel in regard to another, rapidly or developing over time. That was how she had interpreted his explanation anyway during one conversation of her mother. Melin felt a small shiver run down her spine, the flesh beneath her silken pelt prickling with goosebumps at the woman's innocent touch. "Would you like to?" As forward as it may have seemed, the clanless vampire was being quite innocent. A nap meant a nap. The very worst she intended to do was curl up close to the other female, perhaps watch Ravana's sleeping expression. She was willing to bet it was undeniably adorable.
