His eyes felt tired. Which was a little odd, because Kaden had yet to experience the deep sleep that his mother had.... spoken about in length. Apparently every vampire experienced it if they lived long enough, but the blue haired man doubted that was what he was currently feeling. It was just plain old exhaustion. He had managed to join Tremere and pass being an entire newbie because of his knowledge about magic and the clan, but it had been taxing all the same. Kaden felt like he could have used a nap of at least a couple hours, but he had just gotten his hands on some of the clan's libraries. His need to learn new things currently outweighed the need for a nap. He turned a page of a journal of a mage some hundred years or so past. Another member of Tremere, though this one had been mortal before being turned. The mage in question had risen up past where Kaden currently was, but he hadn't lived very long after obtaining that Elder rank. In fact, he had pissed off Kaden's very own mother and Kilah had taken glee at murdering the man the second he had put a toe out of line. Not the first and Kaden was certain he wouldn't be the last. But the magic the man had been on the brink of discovering looked promising, and Kaden wanted to follow that thread even though it had been cut short. He turned the page just as the door to the small, cramped library opened. It was one of a few places that the lower ranks of Tremere could enter. A grouping of books that could be useful to someone still trying to learn greater things, so Kaden thought nothing of it as he continued to read.... right up until the dust tickled his nose and he sneezed harshly, causing the brittle pages of the journal to launch from their bindings and scatter everywhere. "Damnit." Kaden cursed under his breath and moved to start picking up the pages, grumbling to himself as he did. The pages weren't numbered. This was going to take far too long to piece back together with the chicken scratching the mage had for handwriting to figure out where everything went.

It hadn't entirely been easy for Belladonna, choosing to join her father's clan. Selecting one of two doors when she had avoided picking for years was...certainly a challenge. Butt he truth was, she found Ventrue...not to her tastes. Certainly there were things there that held her interest, but it wasn't like Tremere.
It wasn't like the song of sorcery. It wasn't like the sheer, glorious power of thaumaturgy, and while Ventrue could certainly acquire most things with enough effort, Tremere had libraries that made Belladonna drool. So, she'd decided to stand in the shows of her absent father. Her mother had plenty of potential heirs, Ventrue plenty of new blood. Belladonna went where she wanted, and while joining the Clan had been a trial, it was one at which she had succeeded.
And now she had access to their libraries. Not all of them, but enough, and she swanned casually into the one she'd chosen to peruse for the day, noting idly that there was someone else present.
A brief pause. A tilt of her head to consider. He cut a handsome figure, but that wasn't what she was here for.
She turned her attention back to the shelves. While her father's writings were inaccessible to her, no matter how much she craved them, she knew enough to know a few of the fundamental theories he'd been chasing. Perhaps she could start there and reconstruct his work on her own.
There was a sneeze, and she felt paper smack into her leg--she bent, and found a handwritten page, and frowned at it, picking it up carefully between two fingers. Her eyes drifted towards the other kat in the room, and she wiggled the paper.
"This part of your book?"

There were many children of Tremere lurking around certain corners. Kaden himself had a number of siblings and half siblings from both parents' sides, and then he had a pair of children himself. All in all, it seemed like a number of vampires wished to expand their legacies upon wakening, and while a good chunk could not turn other fae, they could certainly make more in the old fashioned sense. Kyle had studied quite a few of the clan members along the way, but he couldn't quite place the woman standing in front of her. Who she was... was a mystery to him. The dark haired woman lifted up a page and spoke after wiggling it. A small bit of a smile appeared on his lips before he nodded and carefully took the page from her. "Indeed, though apparently the old sod who wrote it didn't believe in numbering his pages." He looked over the details of the page, at least noting that the hand writing looked a little calm compared to other pages he had seen. "If you see any others lurking in the shelves, I'd appreciate their return as well." There was a polite nod to the woman before Kaden started to collect a few other pages, walkind around to snag a piece here or there. He would look at one of the pages, his nose would wrinkle, and he'd tuck it in with the rest before moving on to the next. All in all, unhappy but attempting to figure out where all the pages had gotten to before trying to piece the book back together. His afternoon had gone from translating and reading, to grunt work. His mother would be displeased if she ever learned of this waste of time.

Bella laughed, dryly. "Ah, I'll bet he thought it was some sort of test. 'If you're truly worthy of my secrets, you'll piece them together by hand, without such paltry things as page numbers. Pah!'" Frankly, given her interactions with the Elders and up of Clan Tremere, it didn't seem far-fetched. All far too concerned with hoarding their power and their secrets.
But that was alright. She had learned a thing or two at her mother's knee, and she would just have to put those skills to use.
"I'll keep an eye out," she said. She glanced back over at him, watching him gather and sort; slowly, she started to smile. "Or, perhaps, we could help each other? I imagine piecing that back together on your own is going to be a nightmare. And a waste of time, when you could be actually reading it."

Some sort of test. That seemed like the perfect reason. Like whoever couldn't figure it out wouldn't be worthy of learning the power. All the old ones seemed to have a fussy sense of who and who could not learn such things. His mother was among their number and it was something that Kaden felt annoyed by, if only because he didn't want to gatekeep this kind of knowledge from other members of the clan. But the woman made him and offer. One eyebrow shot up above his glasses and Kaden gave a little bit of a smile back to her. Apparently, she had a bargain for him. "I certainly wouldn't be opposed to a little bit of help. But what is it you'd like in return, Miss?" He still had the friendly smile but couldn't help wondering what she had in mind. A pretty face could hide some fierce ill intent. Kaden was the byproduct of such a person and he had no doubt that more than a few members of Tremere were the same. If he expected himself to do well in the clan, he had to be able to navigate moments like these. Making deals more in his favor than others was what he had in plan, and while collecting papers and organizing them wasn't the worst thing in the world, making connections was certainly a better use of his time.
