Enigma was annoyed by the voice. How dare a disembodied voice call him a fool. He who once the Guardian of The Crystal Maze. As a Cheshire cat, he couldn't help but be intrigued by the proposal of a game. He rolled his eyes at the proposed challenge. He had spent years navigating a maze and finding his way out of a forest would be a piece of cake. He tried to explain this fact to the voice but received no response. Once he realized the voice had no intention of speaking further with him, he started to look for a way out.
As he walked he looked around the forest he was in. He didn't recognize anything around him nor did he remember entering a forest. Just how did he end up here he wondered to himself. As he continued to walk he started to hear what sounded like running water. Was that a river?
Upon reaching the river he stared in disbelief at all the debris floating along the water. There were lots of logs and were those alligators? What kind of crazy place was he in. He kind of liked it, it reminded him of home. Clearly it wasn't safe to try to swim across the river so he decided to see if there was a bridge nearby. He highly doubted it but maybe that's what the voice wanted him to think.
After walking up and down the river for a bit looking for a bridge he was back at the spot were he first encountered the river. He could now say for certain that there was no bridge nearby. He'd have to figure out another way to get across. Times like this he wouldn't mind having wings though he had a feeling that even those with wings would have fond themselves unable to fly in this place.
Watching the logs float down the river he stared to get an idea. If the logs were capable of staying afloat with his wight he could use them as stepping stones to get across. He would have to be quick as the river wasn't exactly slow moving. Gathering himself he jumped onto the closest log and breathed a sigh of relief when it stayed afloat. Now all he had to do was make it the rest of the was across.
After jumping along a couple more logs he found himself in a bit of a pickle. He was now about half way across but there were no longer any logs close enough to jump to. As he looked around he noticed movement in the water in front of him. It was an alligator, it swam along with just its head viable above the water and just within jumping distance with a log on its other side. An idea began to form in his mind. It was a bit crazy but it was either use the alligators head as a stepping stone or turn back and he wasn't getting out of this forest if he went back. Taking a deep breath he jumped onto the alligators head and while it was still stunned from the unexpected move jumped onto the before noticed log. Another jump to a log then a jump to the bank and he was finally across the river.
He took a moment to catch his breath at the river bank before continuing on his way leaving a rather angry alligator behind.
After walking for far longer then he thought was possible without exiting the forest as he was certain there was no forest this big anywhere around were he had been before waking up here, he reached what appeared to be a dead end with steep unclimbable cliff faces all around. Now there was a mountain in the middle of the forest? He was both confused by and curious about this place.
As this was supposed to be a challenge there was likely a way past the cliffs, he just had to find it. He started to feel around the stone walls with his paws looking for anything that felt out of place. As he slowly moved along he soon came across a small rock jutting out of one of the walls, completely unnoticeable from just looking. He smirked this was the same type of trick used in the maze. Putting all his weight behind it he pushed the rock in. There was a grinding sound as a part of the wall moved revealing a tunnel through the cliffs. Cautiously he made his way through the tunnel.
Stepping out of the other side of the tunnel, he could see what appeared to be the end of the woods. Slowly he made his way over keep an eye out for any traps. Stopping in front of the exit he looked behind him. This had certainly been a strange game and he was more then happy to be done with it. With one more look around he stepped though the exit and out of the forest.
