The incident in the catacombs felt like it had been ages ago. It had in fact been several weeks since the three of them had been surprised by Augustus deciding to awaken out of nowhere. Though the lack of preparedness wasn't shocking. Augustus did things in his own way and time. Apprently he'd been feeding, getting reaquainted with the era and, the Methuselah shuddered, the bodies of the times. He had always been an insatiable thing. A fact the dark haired male made an effort to ignore. Amadeo was seated in Nonna's kitchen waiting for her to emerge so they could go over what was left to prepare, no one had actually seen the Disciple yet so there was no real way to know when he would actually leave his sanctum. Despite the lack of knowing when the time would actually come Amadeo felt good. Better than he had in years. Like he had more vitality since the Disciple had awakened. It would have been an accurate assumption that the two were, in fact, directly related. The stronger Augustus grew as he fed, the stronger the members of the clan became.
Amadeo had busied himself with getting the affairs of the house in order. His nights had been an endless barrage of making sure the main estate was ready for their Disciples emergence as well as sending out letters amd envoys to the heads of the families to alert them that they needed to ready themselves for a meeting with the Disciple. He also had to get Thane ready to take a wraith. Though Nonna would be handling the majority of it there was still a mental or emotional element to it that he would want to make sure Thane was well prepared for. He didnt need to lose an elder, especially now, and especially not his own Childer. He closed his eyes and felt the air stir as his wraith shifted into the room. She slipped along the cabinetry and gave a strange echoing giggle. She'd been acting more energetic, more docile, though still mischievous. In fact all the wraiths had been slightly more docile, less anxious and riled up since the Disciple had risen. He was certain that wasn't a coincidence either.
He wasn't looking forward to the list of demands and changes and restructuring the clan would likely face as the head of the house took his seat at the table once more. No doubt things would indeed shift dramatically as the energy of the main Estate returned control to him. But Augustus was notoriously good about making sure the things he decided ended up being in the families best interest, so Amadeo could let go of that anxiety easily enough. He may have been an eccentric incubus but he was frighteningly adept at his role and terrifyingly smart on top of that. They had been static too long. It was time to move forward again.

The last few weeks had been both incredibly busy and intensely irritating, a constant waiting game, as they prepped the manion and family, then did so again numerous times as Augustus continued to take his sweet time. Nonna couldn’t blame him, of course. If she could have sat in her room for a few weeks and ignored her duties, she would have. But she didn’t have that luxury and so had remained on the proverbial knife’s edge, waiting for that last door to finally swing open. Nonna knew he was down there, somewhere and when she wasn’t dealing with everything a reawakening Disciple required, she was haunting the catacombs, stalking through long undisturbed hallways, hoping that his presence would inspire him to finally come out and say hello. She’d had no luck. When they’d first felt his presence, she’d been ready, delighted even. A weight was ready to fall from her shoulders. He was here, finally. All those long years spent watching and waiting and soon the family would be complete once more. Now she just wanted to bop him on the head with her rolling pin. She emerged into the kitchen from below, her gaze flicking across towards where Thane was waiting. Fresh blood marked her apron. Nonna approached the other side of the table, spreading her hands across the old wood that had seen so many generations pass through. “If he takes any longer, we’ll have to wash the curtains again,” she said, brow arching.

Amadeo was still lost in thought as the familiar figure appeared from below the estate. It wasn't until she spoke that he finally looked up, his expression shifting from agitated to relaxed. Nonna. Good. The Methuselah inclined his head, tapping an obsidian claw on the top of the counter in an obvious show of restlessness. "Honestly, I didn't expect it would be this long. A week maybe. What is he doing down there?" Did he even want to know? Probably not. Actually, definitely not. "How many bodies has he gone through since his awakening?" At the very least the soul coffers were being filled. Harvest wouldn't be lean this year.
His gaze shifted to the main hall for a moment and then back to the kitchen. Where was his childe? He wasn't quite sure what Thane was doing but he hadn't exactly had time to touch base as frequently as he used to. Another annoyance to the older male. They still had much to do on his behalf as well. His wraith seemed to pause, she shuddered and stared at the kitchen entrance, her empty eye sockets ominously focused. The child spirit gave a low growl followed by a cackling sound and pointed up towards the stairs. Amadeo ignored her for the moment, he'd see what she wanted as soon as he and Nonna were able to chat.

The ‘tch’ Nonna gave in response to Amadeo’s question was enough of a reply without words being necessary. She’d been working overtime finding suitable feeding and then dealing with the leftovers, just to keep his hunger satisfied. Yes, waking up after such a long sleep was bound to work up an appetite but it was getting a bit ridiculous now, and she didn’t even know where he was to assist properly. She just sent them off into the darkness and then the body appeared not too long later.
As if summoned by Amadeo’s thoughts, there was movement in the main hall doorway and a new figure appeared. Thane, his new clothes stained by blood and dirt, a scowl on his face as he entered. His gaze flickered to his Sire, the frown relaxing slightly upon finding him there before he looked back at Nonna.
“Well?” Nonna asked.
“It’s done.”
“Bene.” It was convenient to have Thane under her thumb, she could send him off on odd jobs and claim it was all for his upcoming wraith trials. Though truly, he needed the extra experience with death. Amadeo had kept him cooped up in his rooms with all those books for far too long. “Don't bother cleaning up. There's another one waiting.”
He sighed.
Her brow arched but she didn't comment. She'd been asking a lot from him lately.

Amadeo gave a dark chuckle, he could tell Nonna was weary of losing so much of her stock and handling the remnants of the Disciples meals. Augustus had always been rather insatiable, they just hadn't had to deal with his peculiar, and many, hungers in some time. His wraith hissed again, now closer to his chair, pulling at his pant leg impatiently. Amadeo began to look down until Thane appeared and his attention shifted towards his Childer instead, taking in the unique sight with a quirked brow. From the state of him Nonna had been working him hard. And while he knew Thane's true passions centered on the tomes and arcane knowledge that peeled back the layers of death and Oblivion, he would certainly benefit from a more hands on approach to death for the time being.
"Thane..." He began, inclining his head subtly as he greeted the Elder. "I see Nonna has found plenty to keep you busy. I trust you're benefitting from Nonna's invaluable tutelage." He wasn't quite certain if that's entirely what the Antediluvian had been doing with him but he wasn't about to make Thane believe otherwise. The little wraith screamed suddenly, slithering up onto the counter with an unusual impatience. Her little form stood boldly atop the furniture as she pointed out the door past Thane and towards the Foyer. Amadeo's gaze snapped to her, caught off guard by her bold insistence. He frowned. What was going on? She groaned, her fingers splaying, bending unnaturally as she leaned her body towards the door.
Amadeo stood, his gaze finding Nonna's, the expression slightly troubled. Something was bothering his Wraith enough for her to disobey him completely. The urgency high. He moved towards Thane and raised a hand, placing it flat against his chest for only a moment before he passed him. He had a strange feeling as he stepped into the main foyer. Someone, or something, was close. Not being one to leave an uneasy feeling unchecked he began to ascend the staircase. His wraith peeked around the edge of the railing and hissed up after him. She seemed uninterested in following however. "Stay below then." Amadeo said quietly, dismissing her. She growled low and stayed but continued to stare up after him for a time before her focus slipped back towards the kitchen, beckoning the other two forward, pointing.

Under Amadeo’s gaze, Thane tried not to fidget. Finding himself suddenly self-conscious with his clothes awry and the smell of fresh death clinging to him. He’d been trying harder lately to be more befitting of a Giovanni. With Augustus hanging around underground somewhere, waiting to emerge like a terrifying butterfly, it had seemed appropriate to get a new wardrobe, cut his hair, sort himself out. But of course as soon as he’d done that, he’d been handed over to Nonna and now he was being given all the horrible jobs that usually her braindead grunts handled. Some nonsense about needing hands on experience with death. Not that he would say that out loud. If she said move the body, it was time to move the body. “Amadeo,” he finally said. “Yes, I- uh.” He was cut off by the wraith’s sudden demanding presence. “Ah, she... seems upset.” Watching, Nonna’s eyes had narrowed, her body dangerously still, like a viper waiting to strike. “Indeed.” She tipped her head slightly to Amadeo’s gaze. Then as he left the room, she pushed away from the table and followed. She too walked past Thane, who was holding his chest where Amadeo had just touched him. “Follow but stay behind me.” Then she swept out of the room, approaching the stairs. As she passed by the wraith, she held out her hand as if to gently brush her cheek. “Grazie, piccolino.” Then she followed Amadeo upwards.
