[PRP] Call of the Forest (Kasumi, Keane and Zedric)

Kasumi

Kasumi tried to catch her breath, watching the water pass them by. The stranger was keen to move on quickly but she knew they could only go as fast as Keane's pace. Something with an unnatural gimmer floated in the water, Kasumi slipped back into the river to fish it out.

It was a small bottle with a piece of velum inside, the writing appeared to be smeared as water had gotten to the ink.

The message was smeared beyond comprehension, she tossed the bottle back into the river and hurried back to the boys. When asked what she was doing she shrugged and told them that she thought she had found soemthing but it was just someone's trash. She agreed with Zedric that they should keep moving as she had started to feel an additional chill because of her aquatic activities.

Keane

Keane had wished for Kasumi to stay by his side because he certainly did not trust this stranger who seemed to know everything and move across old structures with such ease. Everything seemed a little bit too convinent to him and he did not trust the stranger one bit.

When Kasumi left they heard the voice again, whispering riddles to them. He began to feel uneasy as he was unsure of where the voice was coming from but the mouth of the stranger standing by him was not moving. They paused and solved some of the riddles between them but there was one that he could not put his hoof on. It rolled off his tongue, when Kasumi returned,"when you see me, you see yourself. What am I?" He hesitated for a moment when she looked confused and explained that it was a riddle. He could see that Kasumi was still confused as to why they were asking riddles,"the voice, it's the voice, speaking in riddles. Didn't you hear it?"

He could see her face change from that of a perplexed mare to a fearful one. Kasumi confirmed that she had not heard it and grew silent.

Kasumi

Kasumi's breath became shallow as the atmosphere suddenly became dense.
She repeated the riddle to herself a few times and edged her way back to the river bank. She caught a glimpse of a mare looking at her from the water and double took, it was her own reflection.

"My reflection. They are a reflection, my reflection", she whispered breathlessly.

The tension lifted and suddenly the air felt breathable again, she was not sure whether it was psychological or psyical but the boys seemed rather unaffected.

"Come on, let's keep going."
She wondered if yelling or singing would keep the voice at bay or would it draw them closer? Kasumi decided to stay quiet, maybe if they could sneak away the voice would leave them alone.

Zedric lead the way but he could see that the couple were shaken, surely this could not and would not be the end. "Are you far from home? If we don't get you dry and warm then-then...",he hated to think of what would come next if he let them suffer in the cold.

Zedric's face lit up when he reached a rock he recognised,"we're close."
The group had found their way towards the edge of the forest, it wouldn't be long until they were out completely. With each step they hoped they would not hear the creepy voice again.
