You wake up in the forest. How you got there isn’t important right now. But the thing is that you’ve been given a time limit by a sinister voice who acts like this is just the first round in some demented game. Whether or not you really want to play, you do know that you don’t want to stay here.

This will be a solo rp for Brinley.

Brinley blinked her eyes slowly. She was laying on her side and her head felt a bit woozy. Where was she? What was this place? Her eyes slowly adjusted to her surroundings as she unsteadily got to her hooves. She stumbled a bit but managed to eventually stand. She shook her head slowly, still feeling a bit lightheaded. It was dark, so very dark out. She was in a forest, the trees close together and so very tall. The forest was old, even when she craned her neck she could barely make out the tops of the trees. No light seemed to get through to her unless the moon was covered by clouds.

Brinley trembled. She spoke softly to herself, pleading to not cry. It was no use, as tears started to fall from her eyes, sliding down her face. She sobbed. She couldn't remember how she got here. All she could remember was that her parents had given her a task, to trade some of her herbs with another group for their legendary fruit. Brinley couldn't remember if she even made it to the group. Her pathway didn't take her any where near a forest, so how did she arrive here? Particularly with no memories? Was she kidnapped? Brinley trembled and sobbed some more.

"Hello fool" A terrifying voice called out into the night.

Brinley's large ears perked up, trying to identify where the sound came from. Tremors still travelled through her body, fear evident. "Let’s play a game. Right now you’re in the middle of a forest and all you have to do is find your way out. Simple? Yes, truly, just like your mind.” The airy laugh echoes on. “You have two hours.”

"Please, I beg you. Please let me go." Brinley pleaded with the voice, her head turned from side to side, still trying to locate the voice.

"Tick, tock. Time’s running out little fool. This time we’ll play for a prize and if you fail, well, I won’t take it out on your utter incompetence. But next time…the stakes will be higher.”

Brinley pleaded more with the voice. Minutes passed but the voice did not return. She was on her own. She wished she had brought Rue along. No. Brinley shook her head, it would be horrible if something had happened to Rue if she was here. It was better for Brinley to be on her own, that way no one she loved would be harmed. Brinley sniffed, wiping her face against one of her front legs. There was no other way except to play this sinister game.

Brinley started to walk through the forest, her pale eyes searching for a way out.

Brinley continued to walk past overgrown roots and weave in-between large trunks. There was no sound, other than what came from her - shaky breaths and the soft pitter-patter of her hooves touching the cool, moist ground. Did no one else live in this forest?

Wait. What was that? She stopped.

That sound! It.....it......sounded like water.

Brinley hurried her steps, following the sound until she reached a river. Brinley looked but there was no bridge to walk across. It was either swim across or jump from stone to log until she reached the other side. Brinley was thankful that her mom taught her and her siblings how to swim. Brinley started to enter the water when she heard a splash. The clouds must have been blown away from the moon as moonlight glimmered across the water. What was that creature? It had rather sharp teeth, whatever it was.

Brinley backed away from the river. No. She would not be able to swim across, after all. Her eyes turned to the stones and logs instead. "You can do this Brinley, you can." She murmured softly to herself, praying for courage.

Doing something like this was not her thing. Her brothers and sisters were more likely to do such an activity or join in than Brinley. Brinley was someone who watched from the sidelines, cheering others on. She enjoyed to stay close to home and look after her herbs, simple activities where she avoided getting hurt or feeling frightened. Her family always sheltered her for Brinley cried quite easily. But now, she had no choice. It was either jump across those stones and logs or fail the game. She had no idea what would happen to her if she failed this game. She shivered.

She backed up slowly and with a leap she jumped to the first stone. She released a breath, not realizing she was holding her breath. 1 down, many more to go. She jumped again and again. She slipped on a log, splashing the water slightly before balancing herself out. Oh no! She could see movement coming straight towards her. Brinley was taking her time with the jumping but she couldn't afford to do so any longer. She jumped and jumped again and finally jumped once more, landing in a soft thud on the ground.

She flopped down on the ground, taking shaky breaths. She watched in fear as the piranhas chomped down on the last log, where she had stood only moments before. Their yellow eyes glowed eerily in the dark, before disappearing into the murky depths of the water. She did it.

Brinley walked aimlessly, continuing in a straight path. She assumed that if she continued walking straight that the forest would eventually end, right? Brinley was losing hope, she had no idea how much time had passed. Was her two hours up? No, it couldn't be up for she was sure the voice would speak to her again if she had failed the game. She needed to have hope, however fleeting it was.

She blinked. Was that a wall? Yes! It was a wall, this must be the end of the forest then. Spirit raised, Brinley hurried to the wall. Oh no, she thought. There was no gate, no entry way. All that laid before her was a wall that seemed to go on forever and a cave. The cave was her only way out, Brinley could only assume. Dismayed, she walked towards the cave. Her eyes glowed a bit in the dark but after entering the cave she quickly realized her eyes would be of no use to her. It was pitch dark.

Further dismayed by the prospect of walking in blind, Brinley sniffed in fear. No, she couldn't be afraid. Her younger twin brothers, Girasol and Vale were born blind, flowers taking the place of their eyes. Whereas her sister Somnalius was born with six eyes, perhaps in a way representing her own eyes and that of their brothers. Their lives were more difficult than hers and they thrived. Brinley could do this, she could.

Splat! Her hooves squished in something sticky, like goo. Brinley freaked out by the feeling of the slime, so much so that she trotted away in fear. She ran through what could only be cobwebs. She shrieked by the feeling of the webs, despite knowing that Rue, her dearest companion loved webs. Brinley knew what cobwebs felt like, being around Rue so much. But being unable to see anything, made it all so much worse.

Brinley continued through the cave. She could hear sounds echoing around her, not knowing if the sounds were all from her or if they were coming from someone else......

She banged into the sides of the cave, scratching her shoulder. She felt along the ground/sides of the cave, continuing along it until finally.......she could see light. She gasped and ran for the light........

Did she make it? Did she win this twisted game?

Only one way to find out. She ran into the light, her eyes blinded by the sharpness of it.
