Sixx stretched as she woke up for the day, she smiled though as the large form beside her stirred too. Today was going to be a nice day, She received a tip off about something interesting to find in some caves by a beach close by and well, the two of them had been adventuring for a good while lately and they deserved a break.
Her plan was, spend some time just enjoying the beach, wait for the tide to go out and expose the less accessible areas of the caves, then watch a lovely beach sunset before heading back to a safe place to rest before she took the big stallion, Rythorn, home to meet her family. She felt a little guilty she hadn't yet but she'd wanted to keep him to herself for a while. Sure that might have been a bit selfish but so what? She cared for her big stallion a great deal and didn't want to share him, or their bond, just yet.
But first, the beach and some fun. She gently nosed at Rythorn's muzzle, exhaling a little to tickle him. "Wakey wakey, adventuring waits for no one you know" she whispered softly, waiting for him to wake.

Rythorn had been sleeping deeply, not that he'd ever admit that he had dosed off when he promised to protect Sixx. But even big burly protectors also needed rest sometimes and this time his body had decided he did in fact, need rest. SO as her breath tickled his muzzle, he stirred, grunting a bit.
"I was awake. Simply resting my eyes." he grunted as he slowly moved his armored hooves beneath him to hoist his body up off the ground. His short tail flicked back and for a bit until he had gotten himself situated and turned to nuzzle Sixx back. "What is first on your agenda today then?" he asked, his tone always seeming serious and business like, even when he was resting. It was simply just who he was.
Of course, as always, whatever it was she chose to do, he was going to make sure she was safe doing it. Even down at a beach. There was no telling what kind of dangers awaited, hidden in the sand or lurking in the waters.
His fox, Dakota, was quickly at his side once he had awoken, nodding his agreement of safety first. "I'll patrol a head and check!" he said proudly, skipping off on his paws ahead of the pair as per usual. Rythorn simply nodded, watching him go, before he turned back towards Sixx and waited for her to move first. While he usually stayed at her side, he usually stayed back just a hair to keep watch on her. Unless danger was already present, then he was in front of her like a shield of sorts.

Sixx smiled to herself as Rythorn took a while to fully come around to waking up. Bless him, he was always so protective, nevermind the fact she was perfectly capable of protecting herself, it was pretty nice to feel that aura of safety she got whenever he was around her. Yes she was independent, more than happy to fight alongside her, but it was nice to know that he was there for her anyway.
She laughed when he did finally wake though "Hmm yes ok, just resting your eyes...." She huffed out a breath as he nuzzled her "I've told you before, we can take turns keeping watch, you need sleep just as much as i do" but she grinned at him as he asked her about the day's plans. "Well first, we're going to the beach, i've been dying to gallop in the surf for AGES" she said, prancing a little in place as she got excited, she hadn't yet told him about the supposed curiosity in the caves, she wanted to surprise him, plus if it turned out to be nothing, then it wasn't a big deal if they came back empty hooved.
"You're allowed time off too Dakota" she called after the disappearing tail, today was about fun, as much as it was about adventure, even those like her family, and like Rythorn, needed the break now and then. "come on big boy" she said, trotting out of their sleeping place, following Dakota's pawprints.

Rythorn let out a snort and a bit of a gruff whiney. Still, he simply nodded towards Sixx and then again to Dakota as he trailed off along the beach. Sixx's excited prancing in place didn't quite escape him. In fact, it almost made him smile and something of a gruff laugh or snort escaped him just briefly before he flicked his tail and his usual "serious business" expression fell back over his features. "I'm fine." he insisted, not wanting to admit that he needed sleep, at least not openly. To him, that felt like weakness and he didn't like feeling weak. Otherwise how would he protect his mate?
Dakota simply gave a responding yip as he went off, though his trail may have shifted slightly to sniff at a seagull that had landed somewhat close to a discarded pile of shells and other curious objects. Rythorn watched this and simply snorted before letting out a sigh. "Let us go then? Before any potential tide comes in." he stated.
Inwardly though. He was actually excited himself to trudge his hooves through the cooling waters and relax as his weight caused them to sink into the sand. Something about that felt comforting to him, like a hug for his hooves. Except he'd never state it that way. Ever. And he sooo totally wasn't eager to get too experiencing that...nope.

Sixx frowned a little at Rythorn "You're not fine if you're dropping from exhaustion" she snipped slightly, not because she was annoyed, more because she cared and sometimes he was just too strict with himself "tired warriors are warriors that make mistakes remember" she said, more kindly, bumping him with her shoulder to show she wasn't mad with him, not really,
She nodded at his 'let's go' comment, "Yes, i want to watch the tide actually, for when it starts to go out" she said, wondering if he would be curious as to why, after all, there was still things they could always learn about each other, she'd learned that from her family, even after years together, they still learned new things.
She had been quite a bit younger when she'd last come to the beach, she remembered the feeling of the sand shifting under her hooves, of the surf splashing up her sides, though she was smaller then too, and didn't need to go far then, to get immersed, this time she wanted to try and swim, to go deep, oh she couldn't wait but.... she knew Dakota would be coming back soon after scouting and she knew Rythorn would be agitated if she ran off without the fox's reconnaissance first. "Hopefully your fuzzy friend won't be too long before he circles back to us" she said, her hooves itched to run but they were in unknown territory so it was safest after all, to let Dakota check it out first.

"He wont have strayed far." Rythorn said at the comment of his fox friend coming back soon. The little guy never really went too far from his side without good reason.
As if on cue, the fox himself was already padding back, excited about his finds. His head was held high as his little tail swayed back and forth. In his mouth was a rather impressive shell, almost as big as his head, which made it hard for the little fox to see around, causing his stride to be.... a little wobbly. His paw were wet and every so often he'd stop to try and shake the clinging sand from them, little toes spread wide.
"See." Rythorn mentioned, a snort of a chuckle in response to the fox trying its best to shake its paws clean. He turned towards Sixx and nodded before he himself moved forward. He moved towards the beach, watching the waves shift in and out. He paused slightly, letting the waters wash over them as he stopped to stare down at the water mixing and mingling with the fur on his legs. It felt cooling and he let out o soft sigh. Sixx was right, but he hated to admit it. He hadn't stopped to have fun or relax like this in a long while. He couldn't even remember when he'd had fun. Especially not at the beach, listening to the waves crash against the shore. "I've missed this..." he said softly, mostly to himself, though if Sixx heard, well he wouldn't mind that.
He did wonder what other plans she had in mind for today and he turned back towards her, with a very faint smile that was just for her.

She laughed when Dakota came back, with a shell so big he could barely carry it "Wow! that's awesome Dakota, put it somewhere safe for now? maybe with our armour and we'll help you carry it back if you're keeping it" she said, as she walked towards the waves. She tried very hard not to laugh at the little fox's attempts to shake his wet paws dry. "so funny" she muttered to herself as she followed Rythorn to the sea.
Once her feet hit the waves, she closed her eyes and let out a satisfied sigh. Oh yes, she had needed this for a while, she waded out deeper, feeling the wet sand shifting under her hooves as both her weight, and the waves, moved the tiny granules back and forth, she stumbled once when her hoof hit a rock that she thought was a crab so she moved too quickly but she righted herself immediately and laughed "Come on Rythorn!" she called as she got deeper, deep enough to swim now, small she may be, but she was a warrior, she was powerful and her hoof strokes carried her in circles as she waited for her mate. She had already forgotten all about the caves, besides, it didn't even look like there were any close by anyway. She wanted the day just like this, playing, relaxing ... oh the sunset would be wonderful eventually too, it always was over the water.

Rythorn had watched her as she too felt relaxed in the waters, before she decided to swim off into the actual ocean. He shook his head a bit before turning back towards Dakota. "Don't get swept away." he told the fox who was busy temporarily burring his shell next to the opening of where they had been sleeping just before. To keep it safe of course.
After that the large stallion took a few hesitant steps into the water.
With his armor and his size, was sure he'd sink but to his surprise....well he didn't. At least not fully. The water seemed to carry him with some surprisingly amount of buoyancy and he found himself drifting over towards the mare. In a sneak attack of playfulness he thrusted down a hoof and sent a small splash of water towards her before trying to swim off away from her before she could retaliate. Though he was a little more like a land turtle trying to stay afloat. it was probably a very funny sight for her to see.
What he wouldn't say out loud was that he wouldn't mind staying here and doing this for quite a while yet. Perhaps even the whole day....if she'd let him.

Sixx looked back over to the big burly stallion, she saw that he was a little hesitant but he overcame that and came closer to her, she was glad, she wasn't sure she'd ever seen the stallion fully relax since she'd met him, not even in sleep.
"Let the water help you float" she said to him as he made his way towards her "you should have probably left your armour on the beach though" she laughed, before letting out a squeal as he splashed her with water, "Hey!" she giggled as he tried to swim out of reach, which she let him do, at least for a moment, before swimming over and getting him back with a two hooved splash.
She played like this for a while, until she started to get tired and headed back to the beach, it was then she noticed that all the time they spent in the water, preparing etc, the sun was starting to get low in the sky and the tide had gone out and come back in already. She flopped down on the warm sand and rolled a bit to dry off before looking over at Rythorn. "Want to watch the sunset with me?" she asked him, her dear strong, warrior stallion had played and had fun today, she knew tomorrow he would be back to his stoic, protective self but she had really enjoyed the day, had enjoyed seeing him totally relax... well... maybe not TOTALLY.. but mostly.

He had to admit she had been right about today. Well about many things really, but today especially and he was glad she had been. He may not have been a stallion of many outward words or thoughts but his face would show it, especially around her and he let himself finally relax as the water took all his tension away.
He drifted with her lazily, playing in the water, occasionally giving a kick of his legs to stay above water before he too joined her back on the warm sand, letting himself drip dry for a moment. He felt the breeze blow the water off him, chilling bits of his fur and he shook himself before settling down next to her on the beach.
He eyed the sun starting to fall below the ocean before he turned his gaze towards her. "Of course." he simply said, leaning over to nuzzle her softly before pulling back again. He'd watch the sunset with her, always, until the end of time if he could. But mostly....
...mostly.... he'd watch her.
