Quote:
November is all about having an “attitude of gratitude” and—Scratch that, I hate when people say that but what they really mean is you can’t complain about or be upset about anything. Being grateful is good, but it’s okay to let out our emotions from time to time.

In short, it’s okay to not be okay. Say it again. it’s okay to not be okay If you’re mad, sad, or whatever it’s okay to express that from time to time–it’s even healthy.

I know this time of year is stressful. Write a 750 word RP about you soquili getting upset, mad, or in an argument. Do they rage against the dying of the light? Rant against the heavens? Finally tell someone enough is enough? Or just let someone else know how they feel, even if it’s not pretty or grateful?

Maybe you want to make the RP into a parable that mirrors real life but in soquili way. Example (which you can totally use!) IRL your car has stopped working or those vacation plans have fallen through–tell me about how your soquili’s favorite basket breaks when you need it most. How that jar of honey didn’t come out flavored how they wanted. You’ve got the right to vent, so use this as a way to let it your frustrations (RULE: You cannot make it about any human, soquili can fend for themselves.)

This just hadn't been her night. Or the previous day either. Actually, this entire week had kind of sucked mud. If it hadn't been one thing, it had been another, and Darlig was ready to tell the rest of the world to go kick rocks. Except, she felt more inclined to make her point known with her teeth and claws than with lame ineffective words.

The changing of the seasons had lead to proper prey being more scarce than usual. At first, she had attributed this to the season, as the cold weather typically sent many of her choice prey into hiding from the cold, or bedding down for the winter. Perhaps that's all it had been...at first. But as the prey grew scarce in her own hunting grounds, so too must it have done so in others' territories...and those predators were daring to cast their eyes into other territory. At first it had been the scent of a predator on her east borders. She had made sure to re-mark the border with her scent as well as leaving a dry, cleaned Soquili skull (some sort of Usdia, if she recalled...small, yet tasty; ah that had been a lovely hunt...) as a reminder that trespassers would not be tolerated. Now, there were usurpers poking around the southern border as well. If they didn't heed the warnings she left, she'd be forced to take more drastic measures. This land was hers and she'd be sure that everyone in this land and the next was well aware of that fact!

However, yesterday's hunt had proven less than fruitful, only adding to the wolf shifter's sour mood. A succulent young doe, likely a tender yearling, had made the mistake of wandering into the wolf's territory. A meal like that could have filled her belly for days, keeping her warm and sated. She had shifted, stalking her prey in wolf form on quiet paws, never making the slightest unnecessary sound. Someone else hadn't received notice to be quiet, however, and a sudden noise off to their left had caused the deer to startle, her ears flicking back and forth to pinpoint the source of the noise. Whatever it was that had made the sound would remain a mystery, however, because as soon as she spotted the silent, stalking wolf, she bolted into the trees. While part of the wolf's brain wanted to find and tear into whatever had made that sound, she had her current prey in sight and hadn't lost them just yet. With a snarl, she leapt after the doe, giving chase into the trees.

The pursuit went on long enough that even the wolf's endurance was being tested, but she was both hungry and angry, and not giving up easily. It wasn't until the deer took a long leap over a narrow icy stream that the result of the chase was set in stone. The wolf leapt as well, intending to land on some rocks mid-stream and leap again to the other shore. Instead, her paws hit slippery ice and before she could yelp, she splashed into the icy cold waters. She scrambled to right herself, get her paws under her. Though it was a gentle enough stream, by the time she was up, the doe was long gone, and the sounds of her fleeing were already fading into the distance.

Darlig had been livid. Not only had someone ruined her stealthy approach, but she had been thwarted by icy rocks in a blasted river! She snarled, whirling on the stream as if to take her frustrations out on it...but that was stupid. And she wasn't a stupid beast. Far from it. She was a shifter, dangerous and clever; a force to be feared by all foolish enough to cross into her domain. With a growl, she shook off as much of the water from her fur as possible. She would need to find somewhere warm enough to bunker down while she dried off so she wouldn't freeze. She shifted back to Soquili form as well and shelved her frustration. However, she was fairly sure she heard laughing in the distance as she set off for shelter...

---

Darlig had found an abandoned den nearby that she had expanded for her own use in the past. A quick patrol of the area had revealed that no other beast had been there recently and she had settled in for a short rest on a pile of leaves far enough inside to be out of the wind.

She awoke with the immediate knowledge that she was no longer alone. She didn't move or open her eyes, but she could hear some creature nearby, breathing, soft paw steps, then felt the stirring of breath as the creature sniffed at one of her forelimbs. She recognized that scent...something canid. Slowly, she opened one eye, taking in the sight of the small coyote sniffing at her leg. Likely, it thought it had lucked out and found a newly passed corpse to feast upon. Her normal form did seem to fool many into thinking she were dead if she laid still. She was far from it, however. In fact, it seemed her own luck had finally turned for the better. She kept unnaturally still, only one eye partially opened to keep watch on the coyote. It seemed to have started to relax, sensing no one else nearby to steal its treasure. Its tongue darted out as the creature opened its jaws to take a tentative taste of the 'corpse'. Darlig struck like a viper, one paw wrapping around the small canine and pulling it close to where dripping fangs awaited, hungry for tender flesh.

The small coyote never had a chance versus the wolf shifter. And yet, still she held nothing back in rendering her prey little more than meat and fur. How dare he attempt to gnaw on one of her legs while sleeping?!? He was likely the one who had been laughing at her earlier as well! Had he also ruined her hunt? Whether or not it was true, the shifter took her frustrations out on the body of the smaller canid, not stopping until her prey was long dead. She snarled, dropping the body on the den floor. It would be a filling meal soon, but for now, she was more preoccupied with venting her frustrations that had been building for the last week. "Won't laugh at me again, will you?" she snarled, muzzle turning to a manic grin as she finished with a laugh. She licked blood from her fangs, eyes darting to stare out from the den's entrance.as if seeking any other challenger foolish enough to make themselves known. Her bloodlust was peaked, euphoria following after the release of frustration and taking the form of an eerie howl that echoed through the night.

It was a victory howl, but also a challenge. For those foolish enough who might dare.

Come test your luck.
