Basic concept - Evil herd, moon themed - focus on new moons, shadows, darkness, secrets.


What is a black moon? It's the new moon equivalent of a Blue Moon (full moon). Occasionally throughout the year there will be two new moons in the same month - the second one is called the Black Moon.

History of the herd:

Oberon was raised by very loving centaurs, though his lineage was unknown. He was found as an adolescent with no memory and no one around. It didn’t take long until it became clear there was something rotten inside of him. He became quiet, calculating, cold. He manipulated whoever he needed to, whether by charm or intimidation. He caused pain and grief wherever he went, perverted any teachings the others tried to pass down. He clung to the shadows, performing profane rituals under the new moon. The others eventually exiled him, and he took the followers he had with him to form a new herd. His charismatic, albeit serious, nature garnered many to his cause.

Those who followed him appointed him lord over them and he was Lord Oberon Poya from then on. Together they settled in an area that is filled with shadow most of the time, a place that the sun seemed to fear. They began a settlement, at the center of which is their Ritual House. At the highest point they built a castle out of black stone, eventually walling off the area. They began calling the settlement Shadow City. Outside the city are the farmlands for the herd. Inside the small city there is a forge, a general store, a tavern, and cottages where the herd members live. There is a small market where members can set up carts to sell wares, and many dark alleys in which to do dark deeds. Gamblers and assassins can find shelter here, as well as slavers and general jerks. The City doesn’t care what your alignment is or how dark your personal shadows are, so long as you follow the rules and bring glory and gold to Lord Oberon.

Shadow City, as it's been called, at first glance seems a lawless wasteland, one of the most dangerous settlements on Chimera Island. The air is heavy and darkness lingers even on the brightest day. The land surrounding the city seems to leak shadows and the sun seems permanently dimmed. The inhabitants don't bother lighting the city, preferring the shadows and what can be concealed within them. While the place seems lawless there actually are plenty of rules and rituals and while it's a dangerous city the Market area is a bustling area that residents as well as travelers can buy and sell wares, repair equipment, and partake in the food and entertainment of the herd.

Deities and Spirits Celebrated:
Nisha - Goddess of Night and Lost Travelers - Patron Goddess. Travelers who become lost at night can pray to her and she will guide them to whatever settlement is close. However, she also might guide them to their death. Since most travelers get lost on the darkest nights, Nisha has become associated with the New Moon.

Gamblers looking to win big at the races or the gambling den.
Those looking to partake of the many Brothels.
Travelers looking to rest and recharge on the road, buy or sell items, and stay at one of the Inns.
Travelling merchants who come to sell at the market.
Other types of Merchants who come to sell at the OTHER market. (Black market)
Those whose morals don't align with other herds and need a place they can really be themselves.

Orias is a fence for stolen goods that he sells at a stall in the market. He only deals in the good stuff, so you better not bring anything fake to him. Anything less than the purest metals or semi-precious stones is a no-go. He seems pretty laid-back most of the time, rarely letting his temper get the best of him. You don't get repeat customers by being an a*****e. He's built a reputation as a purveyor of fine jewelry and loose stones, as well as a charming lech
