For once though, Xaris would give her a direct answer. Perhaps to prepare Nyale like she wanted her to be. "Esther Garden's prison was destroyed, and the prisoner within, is likely gone." She said as she let that sink in for her. She didn't know how much Nyale knew about that garden, but she doubted that Lisanna would have held that important information from Nyale, given she was a representative of Winhill Garden. "Be prepared for the coming days, Nyale. Nothing is certain anymore."
Diablos, for his part, did not seem to engage with Kalen's petty insults. "I am not a child, boy. Your attempts to agitate me fall on deaf ears." He remained as a stalwart defender, keeping still as he watched Kalen. But, despite that, he wasn't needed for very long as Xaris snapped her finger again, causing Diablos to fade into a shadowy mist. "I texted your uncle by the way. He knows you're here with me." Her wings then began to fade away, dying down and dispersing into black feathers all around her, leaving her only in her leotard as the scythe disappeared from her back. After that, she pulled out the very same phone she had previously put down on the table not too long ago, somehow managing to pick it up during their little squabble. "He also says he wants you back at the hospital, and wishes for me to escort you to him."
Once she finished reading, she shut her phone off and pocketed it, looking at Nyale to see if she was comfortable with that. "He also knows that you accused me of shooting his son. He will be given evidence to disprove that. There will be a recording of me sitting in the audience watching Raeka and Rem's performance during the time when the gunshot went off, as well as eye witnesses stating that I was where I was." She said, letting all the information sink in on what events would be playing out. She was being as upfront, open, and forward as she could be with Nyale.
"But. As long as you call Salem, I think it should be fine. He did threaten my daughter to me though, so, I would appreciate it if you at least said something to him about you being alive." She added, mainly caring for Mai's safety than her own. But the choice was hers either way, and Xaris wasn't going to force one on her. Nyale was an adult, despite the age difference, and she wouldn't force an escort onto Nyale if she preferred to be with her friends who were on their way.
==============
"Please.... Nyale... Kalen... be safe." Yukiko was sprinting through the streets, practically weaving through people and streets without a second to waste. She had never ran as fast as she had at this very moment. She didn't care about the looks she got from strangers, she didn't care about how it looked sprinting through a crowd with an LMG looked either. People scattered from her, assuming her to be dangerous either way, and Yukiko preferred it that way at this time. She saw the people scattering from the hotel, and despite her brother's warning, Yukiko outright refused to sit back and wait. She had been the one to give Nyale a gun in the first place, and if she did something stupid, it was her responsibility to own up to it! "Come on.... come on!" She slammed her fist on the elevator button, Kalen hearing the elevator doors shut behind him as his little sister prepared to make her way up to the floor to them.

"The prisoner at Esthar...." Ny repeated slowly, taken aback. It took her a moment to realise who Xaris was referring to, and she drew in a sharp breath, horrified. "Adel?!" If that sorceress was free, Xaris had not been exaggerating saying they were all in danger. Layel is at Esther! She thought suddenly. "I need to find my mother and Salem. My brother is up there..."
Discovering that the person Xaris had texted before their fight was her uncle, Ny now visibly cringed, ringing her hands together. "Ohhhh, he's going to be so, so angry with me" Lisanna too, probably. "I better go back to the hospital then" She sighed. Ny definitely felt a little unsure about having Xaris escort her, but if Salem had requested it then she couldn't refuse. She would already be in enough trouble. "Yeah, that's...fine"
Too tired to stay aloft any longer Ny drifted back down to the rooftop and let her wings disappear, exhaling slowly. Her whole body ached. Xaris' Regen had healed her, but she was still sore and beyond tired now. She noticed that Diablos too had faded from sight and her own GF followed suit, disappearing in a haze of glowing red light.
As Xaris relayed her comments about the evidence for Salem, Ny gave the woman an uneasy look. "If you have a valid reason for what you did to Raeka, you should tell Salem. Even if you say he won't believe me because of this evidence, I can't lie to him about this. And he's smart - he'll figure it out! His son almost died...I can't keep something like this from my family, not when I don't even know the full truth" She explained, shaking her head.
It did not surprise her to hear that Salem had threatened Mai, to prevent Xaris from harming her. "Sounds exactly like my uncle" Would he actually have harmed Mai in reality? Ny didn't think so. "I would never want anything bad to happen to Mai. I never held anything against her" Such as, her bitterness for Xaris.
"I'll let him know I'm safe. I guess this is over, then" She conceded in a low voice. The meaning would be clear to Xaris. Her desire for vengeance had been extinguished for now. It was still a messy and complicated situation, but she no longer wished Xaris dead, at least. Maybe forgiveness would come too...one day.
But before notifying Salem...
The girl wandered over to Kalen and smacked him lightly on the arm. "I told you not to help me! Next time listen! If you get killed on my behalf Nona will skin me alive and wear me like a cape" In truth, Ny just didn't want her friend to get hurt. Especially because of her.
"....also would you mind walking with me back to the hospital? Been a rough day" She asked in a weary tone. He would see from the shadows under her eyes and her generally bedraggled appearance that she was exhausted. "Oh and, um, this lady here - Xaris - will be coming with us...this was a misunderstanding I guess. Try not to antagonise her..."
Finally Ny pulled out her phone, scratched up but miraculously not smashed to bits, and reluctantly dialled Salem.
"Hi, uncle. I...ah...I'm just calling to confirm that I'm alive, and I'm coming back to the hospital now"
Please don't be mad please don't be mad...

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're a big boy and your ma is proud of ya for it. Glad to get you to stop attacking Nyale..." Right as he was about to finish his sentence, Diablos faded away into the ether as if to cut him off mid-sentence. "...nerd." Kalen would not let the Guardian Force cut him off, he would for damn sure finish his sentence! The issue seemed resolved now. Nyale and this Xaris lady were engaged more in a war of words now, Kalen's preferred method after a long two days like this, and it gave him the chance to sheathe his gun and buckle his revolver back into the holster. Twice today he had to pull out a weapon. Twice he did not have to use them. It wasn't a matter of him being afraid to be engaged in combat, rather, it was just more troublesome to be engaged in a domestic conflict. God, he would have had to have heard from his mother, his father, REM, and who knows who else in the UNITA political sphere. If anything, he again looked like he helped resolve things just by appearing without actually getting punched this time...
Nyale concluded speaking with Xaris, Kalen catching the name Adel dropped at the tale end coming from her lips. Adel...Adel... He relaxed and leaned against a table that was still standing after the short skirmish had occurred, crossing his arms. The Sorceress? Nona had always preached to them about education, especially while growing up. She was kind to her kids, but if they came back with poor grades they would see the wrath of the President in full. Luckily, Kalen never drew that ire, always passing with good to near perfect scores while seemingly bored out of his mind. One his favorite subjects though, aside from biology, was world history. That Sorceress is still alive... It was almost completely insane to think about, another twenty years having passed since the first Sorceress war and he doubted anyone really though about her. What were they talking about concerning her?
It seemed the answers would come as they did, Nyale approaching him. Oh here it comes... Two for two in terms of being hit by women in his life in the past two days. Surprisingly, one of them had not been his sisters. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't help you. Might as well tell me to do the exact opposite intentionally." he retorted with a cheshire cat grin, "Listen..." He nudged her shoulder gently to get her attention, "I didn't come back here just because I missed home, ya know. I'm here for a reason, and its to protect my family, the people love. I would risk my neck for you and the people I love without question. My dad probably did the exact same thing, and I couldn't live with myself if someone hurt you." The implications of what he had said caused his face to turn slightly pink, though his tone remained serious, slightly turning away his head and looking up at the sky. "Cuz like, you're important to me or whatever, okay?"
The conversation moved towards walking back, Nyale introducing him to Xaris, which he could only nod his head. "Pleasure." Or lack thereof, he was ambivalent towards her at best. "Good to know another public incident could be ascribed as 'a misunderstanding.' Somehow the least problematic of the last two days." He sighed and looked over as the elevator door opened, Yukiko appearing to which he waved her down. Situation handled. The only thing remaining was Nyale, who he knew was worn out. "You used your wings and magic too much again." he sighed, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, "Want me to carry you back? Hop on if you want." Almost like when they were kids, though now it seemed, they were being forced to shed the remains of their childhood...something was happening. Guardian Force: none Status: Silent Spells 0

Salem Everett Status: Beyond mad, Nyale. Location: Gainsborough Hospital ____________________________________________________ "You shouldn't have left." Salem responded to his niece. He stood in darkness, his phone having been silent when he range as he had a eye cast over Mai, Eren, Raeka, Marem and Rem. He had been keeping watch over his child the entire night, though keeping distant so he didn't interrupt their lives. Nyale didn't realize that she would have been literally drug back to the hospital if Xaris had not called him. Kalen too, however his safety was simply less important to the man.
"In addition, the actions of a SeeD are always being graded. I hope you know this was foolish." He wouldn't say it outright, but she was being demoted from her rank. "I'll see you soon, Nyale, stay safe." He sounded friendly at the end, as he hung up. Putting his phone away he glided from room to room, watching Rem, magically obstructing her ability to perceive him.
What was she doing? ____________________________________________________

Xaris Zeigmus, Yukiko Rieko ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═✥═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Having finally arrived at the top floor, Yukiko bolted out of the elevator, LMG readied and prepared to fire, but as soon as she came upon the scene, seeing that both Kalen and Nyale were fine and talking to Xaris, she clutched her chest and collapsed back against one of the many chairs on the balcony, head slumped against the table. She panted, sweating, having ran as fast as she could with a heavy weapon strapped to her, on top of the gear she had been wearing. She was no stranger to running with her weapon, but she barely ate anything today, and mostly snacked and drank water. She was already well exhausted from the day, but this just had her adrenaline pumping, only to be deflated when she arrived. "Guess... I worried for nothing..." She idly said to herself as she continued to pant.
Xaris, having heard Nyale's statement about Raeka, merely nodded to Nyale. She wasn't confirming that she shot Raeka, but never once did she say aloud to Nyale that she didn't either. "Do what your heart tells you to do. You're at your best when you do." She told her. Did she actually know how Nyale worked? No, she barely was a part of her life if at all, but, that interaction with her was enough for Xaris to see that familiar gaze in her eyes. That hatred, and vengeful stare. She had that look when she was herr age. She was stubborn and headstrong, and cared little about the consequences and choices she made so long as it got her closer to her goals. At least, that was until it bit her in the a** and got someone she loved killed. Almost got herself killed a few times as well.
But with Kalen coming over and introducing himself to her, she merely nodded to him, and then she replied to his comment. "It's a good thing that this is labeled as a misunderstanding, because she fired first. No matter how it escalated, she would have been the one to get into trouble. No jurisdiction of arresting a Galbadian BIE agent, no evidence or proof of her claim, and attempted murder." She labeled out all of the crimes Nyale committed in her act, and knew that she, herself, was fine of this situation regardless of how it played out. Of course, she never would press charges on Nyale, or actually let her receive punishment, but the point was simply that she had done a lot of problematic actions.
Amusing as that all was though, she gave Nyale a smile, one that was rare for the angel of Galbadia, but one that Nyale would get nonetheless. "I see you have good people around who would die for you. I'll remember that." She said softly, in a reassuring way to Nyale, though for Kalen, that might have felt more like a threat. It wasn't but, Xaris always had this reputation of a sadistic monstrous assassin, who many feared due to her history of slaughter, but here, in this moment, she was nothing more than a responsible mother, who saw the opportunity to heal some pain and wounds of the past. ┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═✥═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

What the hell does that mean? Ny thought as Salem hung up the phone after vaguely threatening her. Great. So he's not going to believe anything I say.
She turned and gave Kalen a tired smile, amused to see him turning pink at his own words. It meant a lot that he had her back. "I know what kind of person you are. And that's why I do know you wont leave, even if I ask it of you" She said simply in return, her gaze softening uncharacteristically. "And you're pretty important to me too, wonderboy-"
As Yuki burst through the elevator doors Ny blinked in surprise at seeing the girl, confused as to why she had suddenly arrived, but gave her a friendly wave and a small smile all the same.
At Xaris' comments to Kalen, listing out Ny's supposed crimes, followed by smiling at her in an amused manner, the girl felt her anger flare again. The atmosphere became tense as she stared at Xaris. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt here, apparently to my own detriment, don't you dare mock me... She thought, her expression turning icey. She didn't have any energy left to start anything, though. Right now all she wanted to do was sleep, so the only thing she uttered in response was a cold "if you say so" , followed quietly by "I don't need people to die for me" to the woman's final comment. If she'd had any good will towards Xaris, it had suddenly evaporated with the woman's comments to Kalen.
Ny gave a grateful nod to her friend as he offered to carry her. "Yeah that would be great...thanks Kal"
Within moments of climbing onto Kalens back, the Sorceress closed her eyes and drifted off.

Nyale's smile always had a way of putting him a bit more at ease, if he even needed such assistance. There really wasn't much for him to reply to what Nyale said, himself feeling an odd burning on his cheeks as he flashed his signature grin trying to just shrug it off. She looked very tired though, Kalen having correctly deduced that she was worn out. Probably a lack of actual rest considering the current events as well as the stress and combat she just put herself through. Her final words evolved his smile to a small and endearing one, the words resonating deep in his chest. Maybe being back here was really the right call. It felt good to hear her call him important to her..the beep of the elevator cut off his train of thought as little Yukiko came charging out guns damn near a blazing!
"Yoooooo, Yuki relax. It's all over now." His voice sounded more tired than usual, but the last two days had certainly been...hectic, to say the least. It had been a minute, but he noticed how his little sister was running around like a commando though, entirely exhausted. She had seriously been upstairs the whole day? That was insane. Well, not that it should surprise them. Their mutual parent was also borderline insane, if the prior day were any indicator of such status, so perhaps a little bit of insanity shared between the two of them was allowed. Still, his little sibling had grown a bit more while Kalen had been gone. "Good timing though, sis. Was about time you got down from up there and got some proper rest, okay?" His words were gentle, hiding his perplexed feelings behind her hiding out on a rooftop all day, "That includes a shower." Yukiko smelled like death has personally came from Trabia to greet them.
It was about time to get out of here. The night was rolling on, and if one more thing were to happen that would wake Kalen up, he was going to tie everyone to a bed so that he could get some proper shuteye. There were a few things that Kalen Rae Vicaria loved more than a good night's sleep and a morning cup of coffee, but in order for the coffee to really feel GOOD, the SLEEP had to happen. "I had better get the best damn coffee in the morning or else everyone is going to deal with a grumpy Kal." He grumbled quietly to himself, looking up hearing Nyale's last words. She was so strong and independent on her own, it was almost a privilege that she viewed him as important and knowing that he'd stick by her side. I would though... The thought ran through his head, perhaps it was youthful hubris romanticizing the thought, I'd die for her...or Rem, anyone I love. The words Xaris uttered were not registered by Kalen, his focus only on Nyale as she tiredly came over to him and accepted the assistance, his small smile enduring. "I've got you, Nyale...you know that though." it was more a whisper to her than anything, adjusting to make sure that she was comfortable as drifted off into sleep, her head curled against the back of his neck. The heartbeat of the sorceress slowed with her breathing as she drifted into dreamland, Kalen looking at Yukiko with a weary smile and shaking his head towards the elevator.
It was time to go. He entered the elevator, Yukiko hopefully tailing them, and headed back towards the hospital.
I'll always be there. Guardian Force: none Status: Silent Spells 0

Xaris Zeigmus, Yukiko Rieko ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━═✥═━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ Yukiko huffed a bit, slowly getting back up on her feet as she walked up to both Kalen and Nyale, LMG strapped to her back now that she no longer needed to carry it. She looked up at her older brother, leaning in towards him with her hands on her hips. "So, did you just try prank texting me, freaking me out for some reason, to get me down from the roof?" She asked with somewhat of a teasing tone to him. Though, she clearly didn't understand what was going on. People were panicking outside, and yet, everything seemed fine? "I hope you'll tell me what happened after some rest. Cause, you both freaked me out today." She added, not going to let that down easy much.
Xaris, watching them interact together, coulldn't help but smile seeing the sight of it. She was glad to see that Nyale made friends just fine, and it was obvious to her, that they were caring people. She didn't know how long they were all friends, but seeing that made her remember her old days, and then recalling a glaring fact, almost chuckling quietly to herself. "I don't have any friends left." She had to think about it. When was the last time anyone but her daughter or a coworker wished her happy birthday? When was the last time she celebrated or spent time with others? The thought in her mind practically brought a truth to the forefront of Xaris's mind. "At least I have you, Diablos."
"Always." The GF replied internally. Maybe initially he would have never said such a thing, but, their bond was as strong as it could have possibly been. What they experienced, what they went through, all of it, they shared. She had met all of his wishes and desires as her GF, and she, in return as his summoner, did all she could to make him happy in her youth, earning his trust, and pride as a proper host and vessel for him, becoming his lantern.
Perhaps, out of everyone, he was her only friend left that cared to interact with her, or was alive to be able to do so. All of these idle thoughts came to a close as she drifted her eyes back onto Nyale specifically. Reaching inside of the satchel strapped to her hip, and with one swift motion she moved from her spot, vanishing and moving fast past Kalen, Yukiki, and Nyale, wind brushing past them as she did so, and ran to leap across to a rooftop, but as she did, Nyale would likely later find a card in her pocket. On it, it said. "If you need me. I'll be there." Followed with her personal cell number. But, that would be the end of the encounter, and Xaris would independently separate from the group, letting them walk back to the hospital together.
