Ok, in Pagnsim if you believe in more than one God which is understandable I see sense to that, how do you do it so it doesn't fell like you're serving two masters? Do you keep one God primarily or do you have one main God and ask favors of who you see as smaller deities or people from your main god? Noone has ever been able to answer that question as of yet. hopefully one of you will be able too cuz it's got me confused.

First of all, each person practises differently so you'll likely get a lot of different answers.

Secondly, I doubt too many pagans look on their gods as 'masters.' We're not their little puppy dogs or anything. We may be devoted to them and work with them but they do not control us. We always have our free will.

Personally I have one deity that I work with on a regular basis that I am devoted to. But some things simply do not fall under His jurisdiction, in which case I will call on one whose realm it is. It's not a matter of one being better or more important than another, it's just where their skills and expertise lie. Most pagan gods do not have power over every aspect of life - they specialise in certain areas. That's often why they can be so powerful at what they do.

You wouldn't call in a plumber to help with your love life, just as you wouldn't call the marriage counsellor to fix your pipes. wink

I'd dispute the 'free will' and 'control' issues, as they're up to a matter of personal opinion. In the end one should simply do what feels right at the moment in terms of how one persues a relationship with deity.

From my perspective, I'm a 'servent' of all spirits and all things which are part of Gaia. Servent, in quotes, because I'm not intending to imply a slave relationship here, but service in terms of dutifulness and honor. I tend to avoid strong personifications of deity and honor them in a raw form; simply Sun, Moon, Wind, Water, etc. I work with whichever suits the intention and intuition of the time. What the Miss says about working with what makes sense for the sittuation is important. If you're working with a spirit/deity whose essence is light, don't ask them to manifest something related to darkness. Heh.

*nods* Much agreed here, the deities each have their own areas in which they excel, and we call upon the specific one we need for aid in the situations we stumble upon. Hope that made some sense. biggrin

yeah no, my deities are not my masters, we work together in harmony, so i don't see it being a problem that there's more than one.

Sadly I have seen slower moving guilds, this one is actually fairly fast.

I have two parents, but I don't feel like I'm serving two masters, either; my patron God and Goddess work in a similar fashion: They're two seperate beings, but they work together on a united front. Neither one of them makes demands of me that would run contrary to the other, and it's never so much as I serve them as I work with them, under them.

I keep the two on equal footing; neither one is what I'd ever consider primary, but I do go back and forth in times of need. I mean, if you think about it, if you need specialized help, you go to a specialist. I do, however, work with a larger pantheon than just my patrons, and so I keep them (my patrons) not so much more elevated as just seperated; after all, they chose me and I have a deeper connection to them than any of the others. But they're not always the best source for a solution, so I respectfully seek help elsewhere when needed.
