Yep, it's Chocobo. FINAL NAME CHANGE, I SWEAR.

Anyways, I've been noticing an old trend in the AT again. Not a good one, either.

Well, I've been noticing people care more about matching than style.

Even when I put "I care more about style than matching. Rate this avatar based on style than matching. Thanks!" in the thread, I get "UR AVAER DUZN'T MATCH!11111!eleven 0/10".

Come on people. Matching isn't everything. 3nodding Matching does help in making avatars, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't make the avatar. 3nodding

Soo.....

DISCUSS:
- The "matching makes the avatar" policy!
- What happened to the old days with style over matching?
- Bad trends coming back.

For me, personally, the matching is a big part OF the style, and so that's how I rate. It really depends on who your asking, because people have different views on what makes a good avatar and what style is.

I agree with Frederina. Matching is very important to me. Mostly because without it, avatars tend to look random and unorganized. Now, I am not saying everyone should dress like that, but if you are going to ask for my opinion, don't tell me how to give it whee

I approach Gaia AT in two ways:
- Real Avatar - Something that somebody might actually wear.
- Fantasy Avatar - Something that looks creative, and balanced.

Both of them rely a little on matching, and a lot on style.

For instance: My Current Avatar, Twizted Angelic Demon ToothFairy [bigname]

My matching: Alternating Colors, Relative same Hues/Shades/Noobterms.
My style: Contro-posto balance, with asymetric flow. Seldom Used items.

Ditto.

An avatar should have a definite style, but match well also.

I also think, that a good avatar is one that matches well by planning, rather than the current AT forum (not guild again) method of looking through every item and trying to find the perfect shade or hue.

Exact color matching isn't required.

Overall aesthetics are the most important thing to me in looking at an avatar, but for me, matching plays a big part in that. I wouldn't dock points for the shades being slightly off, but I'd probably add points if they matched perfectly. :B

Made that one for a friend. I like it a lot, despite the HONOES BLUE PANTS.

Those blue pants are a Staple for Naruto Jounin Gaia cosplayers, and I started the trend with the Kakashi I made for "the Naruto RP Guild" He has so many ripoffs these days....

If something doesn't match, it distracts me from the avatar as a whole.
It just doesn't flow as well as matching colors do.
Not that we should make avatars entirely based on matching, but we should definitely take it into consideration.

Myself, I like really odd avatars. whee
