AFG Guild Rules In Short

Unacceptable Behavior:
1. Violating GaiaOnline's TOS and Rules and Guidelines.
2. Disrespecting members, inflammatory statements (trolling), bigotry, intolerance, stereotyping, and prejudice.
3. Linking to adult content without proper warning. (Mods exercise the right to remove the link regardless.) Sexual Role play (cybering).
4. Excessive vulgar language.
5. Art Theft and signatures exceeding Gaia's 500 x 500 pixel and 100kb limit.
6. Advertising other guilds.

AFG Guild Rules In Detail

1. The GaiaOnline TOS and Rules and Guidelines still apply.
2. Respect other members. Disagreement and civil debate is acceptable, verbal attacks and inflammatory statements (trolling) result in warnings and eventual bans.
3. Religious beliefs and lack there of must be respected and tolerated. We do not ask you believe or like them. No evidence proving/disproving religions or lack there of exists without applying to all religions and lack there of. Civil discussion is accepted.
4. Bigotry (racism, sexism, etc.), prejudices, and stereotyping are not allowed.
5. Do not link to Adult (PG-13 or above) content without full warning. Normally not allowed, GaiaOnline does give some leeway to private guilds. AFG Moderators still have the final say. See Gaian Moderator quote:

As the AFG is a guild, not an open forum, and as there is a warning, I think it's fair. Ultimately it's up to a guild moderator.

6. Sexual Roleplay (cybering) is not allowed. Discussing sex in a non-pornographic way is acceptable.
7. Please keep vulgar language to a minimum as a courtesy to other members.
8. Signatures must be equal to or less than 500 x 500 pixels and 100kb.
9. Art Theft is not tolerated, here is what constitutes Art Theft:
A. Intentionally stealing someone's work and posting it as your own.
B. Editing an image and calling it your own.
C. Copying, tracing and referencing is a gray area. Give credit to the source (artist, drawing, photograph) to avoid art theft behavior.
10. Advertising other guilds. Keep ads to your signatures.

When was the AFG founded?

The AFG originally began as a thread here on GaiaOnline.com in the interest based guilds sub-forum. Sadly the original thread seems to be no longer be in existence, but the first post was made on Monday, March 15, 2004 at 4:46 pm.

Who created the AFG?

The original thread (mentioned above) was a co-creation by J.Kougar and WhiteClaw... but it was truly the furs themselves who made the guild a success.
WhiteClaw left Gaia and the AFG a few years in, and around the same time J.Kougar also became less frequent to visit. When the original Administration stepped down, Zanzibar took over the primary guild functions and the guild account, with help from the Moderators of the AFG. Years later Krissim Klaw stepped up and assisted in running the guild for a long while, and just before the guild's 7th birthday J.Kougar returned and attempted to help revive the ailing guild with a name change from the old "Adult Furries Guild" to the present, and opened many contests offering millions of gold as prizes. Since then Gotherine Foxx has taken it upon herself to keep the guild active and alive in the absence of the original founders and those who took over for them.

Why was the AFG created?

Before the AFG's creation, there were virtually no furry guilds on Gaia. It seemed that furs were, by and large, frowned upon. The few furry-ish groups that did exist were either strictly role-play groups or generic clubs that centered on the members affinity or love for a specific type of creature (i.e. cat/neko, fox/kitsune, wolf, etc.). While these groups undoubtedly contained furries, they were not furry exclusive. It seemed there was no place just for furs.

When did the AFG move to its current state on the Guild system.

On Thursday July 22, 2004, J.Kougar registered the AFG on the new guild system. In only a few short hours, most of the original members were transferred over to the new guild and new members have been flooding in ever since.
While were sad to leave behind our original thread (which upon being closed, contained 2,120 pages, and roughly 31,800 posts) the at-the-time-new guild system promised to be a much more stable environment for our guild.

Your AFG Donations

We want to thank all of you who have donated to the guild, but wish to remind you that as stated in the Guild FAQ, gold donated to the guild (via clicking the donate button on the main front page) is nearly worthless at this point in time. At some point, Gaia may make it possible for us to access that gold to be used in quests or other features, but until then, we can only use it to create sub-forums, and we don't need all that many of those.

If you'd like to donate gold that we can actually use (for avatar contests, prizes, and various other giveaways), simply send a trade to the Adult Furries Guild (the account/person).

The AFG Furry Lexicon

AFG considers the following definitions the proper for the terms listed. We understand there are variations, however these definitions are kept simple and understandable for the widest possible audience.

Warning: In the interest of including all common terms, adult terminology and phrases are located at the list's end.

Community Oriented Terms

~Anthropomorphic (Anthromorphic, Anthro, Anthromorph)~
A non-human entity (animal, sun, toaster) given human-like characteristics (thought, speech, and appearance). Furry fandom members usually choose animals. Commonly referred to as anthro(s), these creatures often stand upright on their hind legs and have hand shaped front paws. Some anthros wear clothes, speak, have hair (headfur), and act like humans. Sometimes anthros are shown more animal than human, walking on all fours or lacking speech.

~Therian (therianthrope)~
A person who identifies themselves (spiritual or mentally) as another animal and often undergoes various shifting experiences. Do not confuse shifting with clinical lycanthropy, a therian does not believe their physical form changes.

~Furry Fandom~
The furry community as a whole, referring to the appreciation and interests in anthropomorphic animals. Members are considered furs or furries.

~Con (convention)~
A gathering of people, all having a similar interest or agenda. Furry examples include AC (AnthroCon), FC (Further Confusion), MFM (Mephit Fur Meet), and MFF (Midwest Fur Fest).

~Grey/Gray Muzzle~
Older members of the furry community. Used as a term of respect a grey/gray muzzle would be:
-Anyone fandom involved before 1991
-Any fan over age 40
-Anyone fandom involved before the internet

~Fursuit~
A full costume of a person's furry character (fursona), often similar to mascot outfits. Often fursuit are either full body or work with clothing covering the exposed skin. Someone wearing a pair of ears and a tail would not be considered as wearing a fursuit.
Fursuiter - The person inside the fursuit.

Persona Oriented Terms

~Fursona (fur, furson, furry persona)~
A play on words where the "per" in persona is replaced with fur. A person’s fursona is their furry character or alternate form.

~Headfur~
A furry slang term for hair.

~Feral~
Dictionary Definition: Of, relating to, or suggestive of a wild beast.
In furry, this term often refers to a more bestial form of a person's character. Most of the time walking on all fours and closer in resemblance to an animal.

The following terms describe leg anatomy:
~Digitigrade~
Walking on the toes of the foot as opposed to the sole
Canines and felines are digitigrade animals.

~Plantigrade~
Walking on the sole of the foot in the same way a human does.

~Unguligrade~
Walking on the tips of the toes (hooves in most cases).
Horses and deer are unguligrade animals.

~Quadraped (feral)~
Walking on four legs. Quadrapeds bear more resemblance to the animal they were based off of.

~Tuar (quad)~
Basically furry centaurs. Any creature with a furry/anthropomorphic upper body joined with a quadrupedal lower body (often times of the same animal).

Speech Oriented Terms

~Erf, Marf, Merf, Mew, Mewf~
Often denotes surprise, confusion, or distress. Sometimes used as a sound effect.

~Murr~
Furry slang for "Mmm". Indicates pleasure and is commonly used in adult situations despite not being an adult term. Originates from feline purrs but does not depend upon species.

~Scritch~
Furry slang for scratching.

Adult Oriented Terms

~Beastiality~
Beastiality is a human having sex with an animal. Often the animal is forced into sex with little thought given to the welfare of the animal. This term when used in the context of zoophilia then becomes the act of the human making love with the animal as opposed to all out rape.

~Spooge~
Artificial semen enhancing the male actor's performance within the porn film industry. Often refers to any erotic artwork depicting excessive bodily fluids.

~Yiff~
An onomatopoeia for the sound a fox makes, often used as furry slang for sex. Some say it is an acronym for "Young Incredibly ******** Furry".
Yiffy - Slang for horny.
