Tokyopop and Viz both need, like, proofreaders. Or something like that. 'Cause I find so many typos and errors in there. Even in the editing, like they'll take out things that shouldn't be taken out.

and their staff isn't big enough to allow for someone to check all the books for inconsistencies. I think the problem is that these companies are putting out so many books, but they probably don't have a large enough staff to cover everything, so stupid mistakes and typos will be made.

These are huge companies we're talking about. And honestly, they get $10 a book! That's compared to the $3-5 in Japan. They should have plenty of staff for something like a proofreader. If not, they need to get some, 'cause it can really annoy you that unpaid groups scanlating for free do a better job than the ones getting paid.

Okay, long rant over. Phew.

Don't forget about the licensing fee; they still have to pay that. Besides, $10 isn't that much more than a regular book printed by an American company.

And the scanlating groups I've seen generally work on one or two projects, while those companies have to send out dozens of books a month.

And I agree with you, they should hire people to check for inconsistencies and spelling mistakes. But I'm not positive on how the industry works or where the money they make goes, and I doubt you are either, but I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt, because it's not worth giving myself an ulcer over something that, seriously, does not matter in the end.

This is totally off-topic, and I'd probably be better off not saying this, but are you kidding? I clean/edit (which is why it bothers me so much) for a group that currently has 15 active projects going, and several future projects currently in the works. And like, Shoujo Magic? I don't even wanna know how many active projects they have. Even quick release groups, like bludshock, have about 5 or 6 projects.

So yeah. >.> I had to say that.

the only things i find in common in some mangas are typos... but in different mangas i guess there are stuff that you would be saying how the heck did that get there or where did that come from scream . lol 3nodding but i guess that's what makes the manga different from others biggrin

Sorceress Ameneka
I dislike how in some manga, the male nudity is edited, but not female nudity. (For male pleasure, probably.) Nothing new, but still, not cool.

Well that's because it's illegal to show genitalia in Japan... I think they made the law in 1995. Some people don't abide by it so sometime you will see a random p***s or v****a, but for the most part they are supposed to be censored.
Heck they even censor out their live action pornography. I was in Japan and I bought a movie card in one of the hotels to get a cartoon channel, well sadly you had to flip through porn to get to it... surely enough though EVERY single channel with it was censored.

My only realy WTF moment was caused by a manga that i bought that had the first 7 pages of ANOTHER manga in the begining of it and then it picked up ont he 8th page of the actual manga (and NO it wasn't one of those previews... it was a crap-tacular print)

Someone mentioned killing off the cool characters earlier and for me that would be Kakashi from Naruto...

Oh you should see the Thai variants of the manga, just random *Bleep* words, or somthing like that over where they don't want little kiddies to see.

@ Darkl0rd: Yeah you read the scantillated and the shonen jump versions side by side, they(Shonen Jump) skip out Naruto getting caught in the first trap, and Sasuke nailing Kakashi in the side of the head.

Yeah, sometimes I can find some manga to be on the offensive side and have also found grammar mistakes but most of the time it's good.
