Here's the thing, I'm kinda an english geek. sweatdrop So if anybody like xX.Twi-Lite.Xx has questions about the Shakespeare quotes in New Moon and Twilight I could try to answer them. And non-Shakespeare quotes too. Everyone can post their opinions on what quotes mean. It might turn out to be interesting...

Mmm...I love Shakespeare, especially Romeo and Juliet, so I have no questions about that.

But I do think both of you should like this question:

What does "To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub" mean?

( From the "Rosalie's News" Outtake. Edward says it after he thinks about the idea of Bella finally dying at an old age and him being left behind:

...I would not linger behind. There must be oblivion. There must be relief.

That was my hope, but there were no guarentees. To sleep, perchance to dream. Ay, there's the rub, I quoted to myself. Even when I was ash, would I somehow still feel the torture of her loss?
)

Ok, because of complex_ity_ and me thinking about it a lot, I have come to the conclusion that, Edward either wants to die or sleep so that he feels nothing. The problem is that if he dies will he still 'dream' about Bella? It sounds complicated sorry. sweatdrop

Ooo...I was researching some stuff for a report and came across the line! I love coincidences sometimes x3

To be, or not to be: that is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and, by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die; to sleep;
To sleep? Perchance to dream! Ay, there's the rub;
- Shakespeare, Hamlet, act 3, scene 1

I get it up until he says "Ay, there's the rub" o.0;;

"Ay there's the rub" is like there is the problem kind of because it is saying death is to like sleep but you can not dream and that is the problem i guess.
I went over it with my english teacher (hehe).
