Is "Adviser" a word? Because I definitely thought that the only way to spell it was "Advisor". Unless "Adviser" is a different word. Does someone want to help me here? It's been bothering me for the past three days. Thanks for any help!

Both are right.

It's just like the Americanisation of the word, similar to "socialise" or "socialize".

Thank you. I suppose I'm just used to seeing "Advisor" (is that the American word? I'm American, by the way), and when I saw it spelled with an "e", I was confused.

Since www.m-w.com wasn't too specific about who uses adviser and who uses advisor I decided to google adviser.

Interesting result number one: google will actually bring back results for both advisor and adviser.

Interesting result number two: Based on the first page of search results all of the pages that actually use -iser are .ca or .uk realms and so I'm guessing that this form is more commonly used in the British style of English and that -isor is the American version.
