Whats up with those people who price their items at millions of dollars? Most of the people i see doing it are respected sellers, but they suddenly try to sell a peice of starter clothing for 4 million! i want 3 good reasons why they do that.

1) It's fun to watch people complain about it.
2) Its possible that someone who bought their gold illegally will be stupid and actually buy it.
3) The "0" key can get stuck.

Edit] Personally, I don't do this.

Reasons:

1. because they can
2. Noobs
3. Its a way for rich gaians to easily transfer money back and forth to eachother, Ive known a member or two that have done that, well when the trade system wa a bit funky at leaste.

It's intensly ridiculous.
I dont think most Gaians understand that if this continues...
Gaia will have a case of inflation. And gold will be worthless.
stressed Dorks. Earn gold the honest way.

Though it is kind of fun to see people deflate at the fact that they will never have enough gold for that angelic scarf they've been dream avi'ing.

generally the reasons can be quite varied,
one is that they dont know how much an item is worth so go crazy with eh 0's.
Another is that as has been mentioned before they are obnoxious selfcentred weirdos; that feel they are so magnificent that people will buy whatever crap they put up for sale, without question.
a third possibility is that they havent looked at how much an item goes for and dont really care if it sells or not.
the fourth one is Hope, they hope that someone might be generous, they hope they will get lucky and they hope people will be stupid.
a fifth and rather unlikely one is that they were drunk when they did it, and have forgotten, or simply cant be bothered, to remove it.

this stupid behaviour will not cause inflation as: firstly, if an item is too high noone will buy it. secondly inflation requires everyone else to be a ret... to be stupid.

my general hope is that people will eventually learn from the fact that they arent earning any money. as not buying from them is practically foolproof, although as everyone should know, fools are ingenious so should never be underestimated.

it kind of doesnt work ,like that though......
people have to buy the item first.
and unless completley inebriated people tend not to be so tarded.....
Noobs wont make money...
the item stays there as no one will pay for it and the user probably selected 14 days for the amount of time it stays on the market

Interesting theory.

deffinitley makes sense but one i'd never concidered......

of course the marketplace is full of enough of these over pricing fools to cover every theory discussed and more.....
