In Advanced Science today, our teacher was handing back three-page lab reports from a couple of days ago. In the analysis section, we had to copy questions given to us and answer them. One of the other students actually wrote "u" as a replacement for "you." And this is a frickin' lab report! These things get marked and are then viewed by the provincial government! Ahh!! What is wrong with people??

Wrong with people? Many things are wrong with people. *shrugs*
I'm in pre-ap chemistry and many, many people can hardly spell their own name right. I exaggerate, but you get the point.

Yeah I do. Thankfully my teacher docks off marks for chatspeak, why they would show up in a report is beyond me. -shrugs- This marks are also viewed by any college that you wish to apply to.

Yeah, these kids have great work ethic and dedication. [/sarcasm]

In my English class, someone actually wrote a five page report using 'chatspeak' and then asked the teacher why they had an 'E' on the paper.

I once corrected one of the tests from my eighth grade class, and this boy, who is the "Class Clown" thought it would be "funny" to write every word but the word "but" incorrectly.
My, I had a long talk with him! 3nodding

I am curious as to what the teacher had to say to that, and I sincerely hope that he wasn't genuinely shocked to see that he received a failing grade for using non-standard English on a large paper.

I'm honestly disappointed in those people. They're like how old? 15 to 20 or something like that? Come on! Someone should smack them. I'm 13 and they're like that? Idiots. That's what they are and worse.

Hell, it's not just high school students. I've seen college students (one of them an education major) turn in projects that use txt tlk. It's terrible, and makes me feel bad to be in the same courses as them.

It also makes me wonder why I was so worried about getting into college in the first place... rolleyes
