Brigit the slave child
magicheide
I once did a peasant feast with Muligatawny stew (all kinds of meants (and a vegetarian version) a variety of breads and rolls, including pumpernickle, ryes and black breads, baked apples and peach buckle (like a cobbler) for dessert. There was Cider and Peary available to drink and whatever potable people brought with them. I organized a "mystery party" and each guest had a clue to the mystery of who murdered Lord Luvaduck, to save our necks before the King's arbitor arrived! The young lady who won the prize ( a handcrafted goblet) was at her first event!

That sounds awesome...

*runs off with the idea*

xd

I agree! That sounds like a lot of fun! And mmm the food sounds good too.

*loves feasts* lol

does anybody by any chance have any good bread or dessert recipes to share? i love to bake, but i don't know any medieval recipes besides basic shortbread cookies.

Have you tried Arastorm's Book of Small Cakes?

So this is my Feast story.

It was last weekend at Encampment at the Castle in Three Towers, and I was serving one of Giles FitzAllen's feasts. (not that I was SUPPOSE to... *grumbles about the autocrat being a jerk and not letting her sit and eat even though she was the main help in creating the feast*)

Setting aside the fact that it was an AWESOME Russian feast (cause I barely had any) it was also filled with GREAT fun.

So I was serving three tables and two of them decided to get into a polite food fight with two OTHER tables on the OPPOSITE side of the room, in the middle of the feast. biggrin Between removes I played messenger.

It was great because my friend Prudence had shanghaied me into it, and at one point we had a five versed long message for the other table. And it went as follows.

Me: "We are going to 'A Salt' you" *sprinkle salt on opponent's shoulder* so you better DUCK" *hands a piece of roast duck to the opponent.

Prudence: "You will be skinned" *hands opponent a bit of skin from whatever meat we had that night*

: "Leaf off this course" *hands opponent a leaf from the salad*

Jen: "And don't wine about it" *hands opponent a cup of wine*

XD It was beautiful. BUT not as beautiful as the reply. The two guys that we were throwing food at, took two of us each and sat us on their knees, then looked at the OTHER table with big grins on their faces. Then on a napkin they sent a piece of bread with butter on it, and a piece of duck with the message.
"Thanks for the threesome."

IT WAS GLORIOUS!
..... Needless to say i think the last table won.... But it was fun great fun.

Ahhhhh good time good times.

Oh... and Giles FitzAllen's feasts are NUMMY!!!

It's from an independent press. I'll put a link to it here in a second. The other books are nice too, but Small Cakes has per-iod recipies.
