I was wanting to read some of the classic books. Books that are known by many readers and are loved by many of them too. So, do you have any suggestions for great classics? I plan to maybe start reading them either this summer or the next school year.
Good day and Goodnight.

I'm a great fan of the great Greek writers and they are classics. It's just a matter of whether or not you like philosophy and history. They are good stories in a way too. Let's see; The Odyssey and The Illiad (Homer), The Republic (Plato) and possibly The Histories (Herodotus). All good reads in my opinion.

Wuthering Heights
Jane Eyre
Emma
Nine Stories
1984
Pride and Prejudice (A must)

I love A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare. I've actually read it a few times. Shakespeare in general is good. Othello, Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing are also good.
Mythology and original versions of fairytales are also something I enjoy, though I'm not sure it's exactly what you're looking for. Bulfinch's Mythology The Age of Fable and The Age of Chivalry are good. The Mammoth Book of Fairytales has a pretty good variety of stories, ranging from classics like "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Beauty and the Beast" to some more recent authors' stories, such as Jane Yolen's "The Tree's Wife" and Tanith Lee's "Princess Sansu." I recommend reading fairy tales just because some of the originals are so different from the versions we hear today. Damn Disney! Though I admit I still love the Disney movies I saw when I was a kid, even if they are bastardized versions of stories.

Wow! Such great suggestions they've given you already!
I would have to say The Jungle by Upton Sinclair is an awesome book to read. Other suggestions I would have are:
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (one of my all time favorites)
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck (another favorite of mine)
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Dracula, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein
HAPPY READING! heart

Most of my suggestions have been taken already. Being new to this guild I am still in shock at the good taste of those around me, my friends in the real world aren't exactly widely read.
Someone suggested Jane Eyre, which is fantastic. However they also suggested Wide Sargasso Sea, I found it to be a complete disappointment.
I'd recommend Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen.

To be entirely honest, I'm writing down some of the suggestions in this thread as we speak! My chance to improve my literary resume!
But I do have a few to add, such as: The Call of the Wild, Jack London, White Fang, also by Jack London, and Treasure Island, attributed to Robert Louis Stevenson.
Those are just the classics that come to mind, however. If you want some stories, or even series, that are a bit more recent, PM me, and I'd be glad to share some of my favorites with you!
