Reasons for a Game crashing?

Where can I get patches? (answered)
What are some reasons for a game crashing? I don't use major boolprop, I have a lot of downloads but they're fine. I took them out and it was the same. Also I'm not able to name my neighborhoods. They turn up blank and it's driving me crazy.
I downloaded patches (thanks!) but it's still the same. Any advice?

It's always a good idea to get your patches directly from the developer.

When did your game start crashing? Just before that happened, did you do anything to your computer (such as, downloading new stuff, installing new programs, etc.)? Do you have virus protection on your computer? If you don't, it might be a good idea to have your computer scanned for viruses (try http://security.norton.com for a free virus scanner).

Have you recently installed any new expansion packs?

Yes, Pets and Open For Business

Two points then:
1. Your installation could have corrupted when you put the new discs in.
2. Your computer might not meet the specifications anymore.
