I'm not so sure of whether there is only one English dub.
In the Animax Blood+, I think Diva's voice sounded way too much like a little kid, although I love it when she laughed.
Crispin Freeman's great! He actually voiced many characters from Blood+. Look at Wikipedia to know who they are. I can't remember all of them.
Karl's voice was pretty amazing, but I get shivers when I hear it. 'Don't know why.

I think every voice was better in Japanese.
In the English dub, I liked Haji's, David's, Julia's, and Mao's voice. Even Lewis's. Saya's, too.
I hated Diva's. It didn't quite have that lethal effect.
I loathed Riku's. Then again, I never liked it. xd

I think they did good on the English dubs of Saya (back before she went a little emo. then I thought Kari didn't sound totally good with the whole monotone thing Saya was doing. the Japanese voice actress was better at that), Hagi, Solomon, David, and Julia but they did horrible on Riku. Diva and Kai weren't very good either. But after Kai got older his voice actor improved a little.

I generally watch dubbed animes unless they give a character an accent. Especially a southern one. I liked both versions of Blood+, but I hate reading subtitles. Riku's voice was annoying, but at least they didn't use a girl to do his voice.

It's really common in English dubs to have a woman do the part of a boy. Examples: Naruto, Yahiko of Rurouni Kenshin, and Ash of Pokemon. All women. (Well, Ash used to be done by a woman for a really long time. I turned onto it a couple of weeks ago out of boredom and the new Pokemon had changed Ash's voice actor. so I don't know if he's still be played by a woman or not. ninja )
