Essential Sims 2 Annoyance Fixes (updated 09-Apr-09)

The plan for this thread is to let you all know of fixes that are available for stuff that MAXIS/EA didn't quite get right in Sims 2 and never fixed. I'll also list links to certain things that work as they should but that you might want to get rid of. They have been created by other Sims 2 players through their own choice so it would be really great if you all remember to say thanks to them if you decide to download anything.

Here is the list of annoyances in order of EP and where to find fixes for them. You will find more detailed explinations of the bugs and fixes on each page.

-Creature Fixes. A file that fixes a collection of error with various creatures from the game.

-Adult Male Ear. The ears on Adult Male skintones are darker than the rest. Its not major but somebody went to the trouble to fix it.

-Xylophone Pee Sounds. When male children pee they sound like they are playing a xylophone. This removes the sound.

-Nude Teens in Hot Tub. Teens cannot enter a hot tub that has a nude Sim in it. This fixes it so that they can.

-Floating Pancakes. When a Sim makes a group serving of pancakes they do not lie on top of each other but float instead. This download alters the mesh so that the pancakes now touch each other.

-Biotech Station Medicine. If you own any expansion packs then the medicine that a Sim can make from the Biotech Station career reward is useless. This makes the medicine useful once again.

-Diary Writing With Scalpel. Sims write in their diaries with a scalpel/knife instead of a pen. This fix (made by me) makes the Sims use pens instead.

-2 Tile TV Repair/Tinker Animation Fix. Only male Sims would show the correct animation when repairing or tinkering a 2 tile TV that needs pulling forwards. This file correct the animations for all 2 tile TVs including custom TVs.

-Unisex child trousers overlapping alpha. One style of trousers included in the base game were mapped slightly wrong by MAXIS so that if they were worn with an overlapping top the trouser texture would show on the hem of the top. -Dropping Baby Bottles. With this file installed Sims will now throw bottles away after feeding an infant rather than dropping them on the floor.

-Vision Mirrors "Past Reflections" Incorrect Placement. This mod now aligns the mirror correctly in the centre of a single wall section where it should be.

-Negative Environment Score on 'Polished Bamboo Light' flooring. This file corrects the flooring so that it no longer destroys the environment score in a room.

-Holiday Pack "Throw Party" Menu. If you own Pets, the Holiday pack and play in UK English then the "Throw Party" menu appears twice on the phone. This download gets rid of the second instance.

-University Drumkit. The texture on the drumkit which came with University is UV mapped in a way so that any text added to the front of the main drum in a recolour will appear backwards on the back of the main drum. This alters the UV map to fix the lettering.

-Arcade Machine Tool Tips. The two arcade machines that came with University have tool tips which show in Live Mode. This shouldn't be the case. This package hides the too tips.

-Nightlife "Neontrix" Counter, Island and Bar. The surface of the island and bar are always black. This allows you to choose a different colour to match the counters.

-Nightlife "OpenME" Window. The 2 tile OpenME window that came with Nightlife does not allow light into homes. This fixes it so that light may once again pass through.

-Vamprocillin-D for Teens and Elders The Vamprocillin-D potion cannot be used by teens or elders by clicking on them. This download fixes this providing they actually have the potion in their inventory.

-Nightlife Jukebox Faulty Animations. The Jukebox that came with Nightlife has animations for loading and changing the disc when it is turned on and off. They stop working after you leave the lot for the first time though. This fix will ensure the Jukebox retains these animations. You must buy a new Jukebox for the file to take eeffect though.

-Anti "Watch Out" This hack stops Sims from avoiding unmanned vehicles on a driveway. Only cars in use will make other Sims "Watch Out".

-Table Centrepieces as Centrepieces. This package makes it so that decorative items, lamps and some electronic items will still allow Sims to eat at tables with them placed on.

-Assign Teens As DJs. If you own Open for Business then teen employees cannot be told to work as DJs. Now they can.

-OfB Craftable Flowers Shadows. The shadows on the craftable flowers are extremely dark. This replaces the shadows with lighter ones.

-Fat City Counter. If you own Pets then you can't use the Moon Hopper sink in the counter as the sink hole is cut out in the opposite direction. This corrects the hole so that it cuts correctly.

-Elevators in Dorms. If you place an elevator in a university dorm then all NPC dormies living their will forget that fact and try to leave at night only to return a few Sim hours later. This download makes the NPC dormies remember where they live.

-OFB girls' top neck seam. There was a new top for girls added to the game with OFB which has a slight fault on the mesh so that there is a seam on the neck. This file gets rid of the seam.

-Pets Object Shadows. Some of the Pets furniture items have their shadows misplaced along the side instead of underneath. This places them correctly on the floor.

-Music plays in wrong play mode. With this mod the music heard in Buy,Build,CAS and the neighbourhood view should now only play where they belong. So no more CAS music in Buy mode ect.

-Pets Missing Interactions. Some pet interactions are missing from later expansion and stuff pack objects. This fix restores them.

-Seasons Female Child Dress. If you own Seasons then there is a problem with the way the game reads the texture for the flowers on the new girls dress. This fix gets rid off the skin that surrounds the flowers.

-Broken H&M Clothing Racks. If you use the H&M clothing racks in an OfB store then they revert to the wooden MAXIS rack when they are empty and the femal rack uses the wrong texture when restocked. This file fixes it.

-H&M Clothing Booth Missing BV Interactions. This package enables "Plan Outfit..." and "Change Into..." actions on the H&M clothing booth.

-Bon Voyage Lip Ring. The right lip ring on males and the left lip ring on females are meshed inside out. This isn't massively obvious but if you spot it and want a fix then you can get it here.

-Hole In Bon Voyage Outfit. There is a problem with the female teen camping outfit which means there is a hole in each elbow when you zoom out. This removes the hole.

-Celebration Wedding Arch on Community Lots Bon Voyage enabled community weddings but forgot to update the Celebration wedding arch. This fix enables community weddings with the Celebration wedding arch.

-Teen Style Computer and Stereo. This mod enabled expansion pack options on the Teen Style computer as it only comes with base game options. So if you have Bon voyage you can order photos etc and can have university options. Only if you have the corresponding expansion packs installed though. Same type of thing for the stereo.

-Incorrect Animation for Teen Style Armoires. This corrects a faulty animation on the Teen Style armoires.

-FreeTime Clown Facepaint. This package correctly colours in the nose on the clown facepaint which appeared unfinished when the game shipped. May not work with certain graphic configurations!

-FreeTime Cribs. The bars on the cribs shipped with FreeTime are not animated. These packages enable the missing animations.

-(FT) Missing "Read To..." Interaction. The "Read To.." interaction is missing from the "Novellas Nouveau Bookcase. This package restores the option for Sims.

-Correct Decorative Hobby Enthusiasm. With this file Sims will gain logical enthusiasm gain from decorative items. For example, looking at the fruit bowl raises food enthusiasm instead of arts and crafts.

-Kitchen and Bath Interior Design Stuff Missing Interactions. This package will enable all missing Seasons and FreeTime functions.

-Kitchen And Bath Hair with Band. The red hair with pink head bank incorrectly pulls the brown hair texture for the fringe and the green band will not show for elders. This link takes you to the files needed to fix this.

-IKEA Stuff Missing Interactions. Missing FreeTime functions are restored with this fix as well as an issue with the screen of the new TV.

-Apartment Life Broke OfB Windows. Apartment Life reintroduced the windows from Open For Business but in doing so made it so that any custom recolours will no longer show. If you had recolours and want them back then download the file in this thread:

-Apartment Life Moveable Wall Deco. With AL came the ability to move wall hangings up and down the walls. With the linked files you will also be able to move wall signs, easel paintings, uni and BV photos and photo booth photos as well.

-Apartment Life Hat Hair in Wrong/Missing Catagories. AL introduced some nice new hats for our Sims but didn't allow them to be worn as outerwear, including the witch hats! The links below take you to threads that fix these issues.

-Apartment Life 'Open Mic' Not Usable By Visitors. The new Open Mic object cannot be used by Sims that are non-controllable making the item pointless on community lots. With this fix all Sims can now use it and other Sims can watch.

-Neutral Spells Lower Alignment. With this fix witches and warlocks will no longer have their alignment pulled back to neutral when casting neutral spells.

-Sims don't gain fitness from jump rope. With this fix Sims will now gain fitness when they jump rope. Surely only kids jump rope just for fun?

-Lunatech 'Lighten Up' Light placement correction. Apartment life isn't needed for this but its a bit pointless unless you have ceilings in your game. The Lunatech light has been raised so that it now sits in ceilings correctly.

-Plantsim Probabilty. With Apartment Life EA altered the code on orchard trees but not on garden plots which mean that the code could try to change Sims into Plantsims that shouldn't be allowed. This is a bad thing.

-Incorrect Mansion and Garden Hair. When a Sim who has one of the hairs from Mansion and Garden Stuff ages up the hair alters to a randomly assigned style. This fix ensures the hair stays the same when a Sim ages.

-Shield Eyes From the Sun. When Sims leave the house on a clear day in M&G they will shield their eyes no matter what they are carrying so they smack themselves in the head with it. This download stops them doing so.

-Broken M&G Tassled Rug. The new striped rug with tassles that came with M&G was shaded strangely and didn't show the texture properly. This file corrects the rug and its recolours.

I don't know of any, but I was wondering if you've heard any of them to fix the sims shaking constantly.

It's really weird.
They sit at the table and shake violently and constantly.
They can eat and drink, but they shake the entire time.
It's only happened mainly while they were at the table, but it has happened other times.
If you find anything, I'd really appreciate it.

Its not a bug. Well, I think its a bit of both actually. I seem to remember in the base game boys would have musical pee when they were in platimun mode but after the first expansion they started to pee like that all the time.
