Brief Description of the current status of your Pride/Pack:

After one failed attempt, Muroki is once again trying to renew his pride, this time with Johari at his side. Having sent the maned wolf Kainda out to rally those she can, the Dawn Walker heir plans to set up home near the oasis until the Temple itself can be reclaimed from the vultures who have claimed it's halls as their own.

Origins
Long ago, when the Ancient Egyptians were alive, they sent a sect into exile into Nubia. Taking their families and customs with them, they travelled through it until they were far from their homeland. The humans settled near a river that reminded them of the Nile and named it Chione, the Nile’s Daughter. Nearby the built a complex that was part temple and part fortress, it’s back to a rocky outcropping and it’s front a lush sacred garden.

Being of a sect that venerated Sekhmet, Bastet, Mihos, the Lion of Ra and the other cats of Egypt, they made endeavours to befriend the local lion pride. They saw it as an astounding blessing when the great cats became tamer, lounging in the gardens and guarding their temple, as each held within them a small fraction of godliness. And so the Dawnwalkers was born as the lions took collars on and tolerated the Egyptian’s pet cheetahs and dogs as their underlings.

Many generations past until the Egyptians died out and left the Temple and the lions stayed, forgetting the humans though they kept hold of the traditions they had influenced. Together with the descendants of the cheetahs and dogs, and other animals of the land, they made the Clan.

The Downfall
A couple of generations back, a lion called Baakir’jua became king. He was a warrior-king and was very proud that as the leader of the lions and ruler of the Clan, he was the head of the army. With his strong adult son as his right paw and his wise queen at his side, he started to wipe out the biggest threats to the pride. Crocodiles in the floodplain, hyenas and vultures who scavenged meals…he neglected his ritual duties and ignored that all animals are sacred to one of the gods somewhere.

During this time, the king’s younger sister Kwaheri took as her husband one of the hunters, Malawa, though many expected her to take a warrior in such times. Deeply in love, they had their first litter, born one morning. A young male named Muroki was the eldest and the young cub played happily in the Temple, learning his first few lessons. Destined to be a priest perhaps, as one of the extended royal family.

Some say the king’s actions, disregarding traditions and making unnatural war with all enemies, was why the Dawnwalker Clan was afflicted with the plague. In reality, it had been lucky to escape the great plague that had ravaged all the prides, but a rogue who joined brought it to the pride a lot later than everyone else. Still Baakir fought on. His Queen, Isis’nusu, despaired and tried as hard as she could to persuade Baakir to leave. The cheetah scouts at her bidding sought out somewhere to go in secret while the priests tried to heal the sick and jackals sealed many of the caves of the dead.

Only when the prince and heir to the throne, Jua’tatu, was killed did Baakir pay heed to their peril. The beloved son was following his fathers orders to fight even while he was sick with the plague. In his weakened state, the vultures – who only seemed to grow stronger every day the land was in the sickness’ grip – defeated him and a pair of his warriors. Only after seeing his sons body did Baakir see reason.

Many creatures died. The Queen and Kwaheri’s group just made it along the Pridelands border when those two leading females died. Both had starved and sacrificed all they could to keep their cubs alive…Kwaheri’s body was found by the Pridelanders Mahiri and Bakhti. Nestled against her was the thin and ill Muroki, who didn’t understand his mother was dead.

Looked after at first by Bahkti and then raised by her two adopted sisters, Rahima and Laini, when they had their litters. Muroki grew, thinking he was the last of his Clan left alive at all.

Revivals
At the time, Muroki didn’t know if there were anymore Clan members in the world, but as he grew up, he realised that if he survived others must have too. His cubhood sweetheart Hisani - the daughter of the lioness Laini, who helped look after him - encouraged him to try to revive or restart the pride.
To his delight, a few of the old lions led by Lesadi were living a nomadic life and turned up. Athrun the God of Loneliness and a cub called Kiago too, arrived there.

But it was not to be. The lions broke up once more, as the Temple was over run by vultures still and Lesadi grew ill in her old age, so she went back home with her children – an old lady now her homeland was too harsh for her to try to win back in such a state. And the greatest blow to Muroki, Hisani vanished not long after she agreed to seek her mother’s approval to a marriage between them.

The first attempt failed and bitter and angry, Muroki wandered the lands as a sarcastic rogue with a sharp tongue. His heart broken. But then he found new lands and new friends. Settling for a while in the Unity Walkers, he found his best friend Laini and met Johari, the most intriguing female he’d ever met. The lands had once been ravaged by plague and were now inspirational – beautiful and harmounious, Muroki loved them. Eventually he was coaxed into giving his Clan another chance, out of duty and love… taking his sweetheart and best friend with him, and recruiting Kainda to help with the efforts to find those who belong, like he does, in the Temple.

Vultures
The only thing standing in the way? Vultures. They thrived during the plague and had a trio of their youngest trail Muroki - reporting on his movements so the vultures will be ready should he ever try again to revive the pride. The lions need to get rid of this invasion of carrion birds. And theres rumors the birds are holding a cheetah or two captive somewhere...

One of the last of the old pride and orphaned in late cubhood while on run from the plague of the Downfall – memories of his childhood, the feature of man a vivid dream, has driven his life. Until the shock of his first failure at reviving the pride and loosing his first love Hisani, Muroki was a charming and often lying adolescent, who practised the rituals of his pride with a careless paw. Since adulthood, he has matured a lot and grown wiser, and hopes he’ll make a just and fair king…one his Clan could be proud of.

Johari has always been more on the reserved side of things. She's a very sweet girl, but has lived a rather unintentionally sheltered life. Muroki was truely the first friend that she had outside of her family, and perhaps unknowingly steered her onto the path of opening up to others. Now that she's finally begun to socialize, she's prooving to be a wise listener, good at giving advice on both matters of the heart, and practical matters. She has high hopes of living up to the honor of serving as queen at Muroki's side.

Laini's been taking care of herself for much of her life and from a young age. Her mother was depressed, so she was forced to hunt at a young age for both of them. She's very determined and stubborn. Laini also tries to get enjoyment out of everything, is selfish, and enjoys a good conversation ...as long as she isn't being attacked verbally - Or at least that was until her son left. His disappearance has left her a calm, collected soul and made her bond to friends stronger.

Safiya is an orphan with no memory of her parents or where she comes from. Likely they died while the pride tried to flee from the plague, on their 'road', past the Graveyard. Sweet, friendly, and childishly optimistic, Safiya loves everyone but has never found lasting friendship. As a cub, she fended for herself until she found refuge in the graveyard pride. She lived there until adulthood, when she had a frightening run-in with a hyena and finally fled that place for good. Since then, she has wandered the lands without any ties to anyone or anything, looking for a place to call home and people who would love her. She met Muroki while near the Unity Walkers territory.

M’Dimu Chanua - lime blossom

Dimu has always followed the stars, and was lead to this pride by her star which resides above the temple. She is currently pregnant with cheeton cubs whom she plans to raise in this pride until they become adults, where she will either have them stay in the pride, or go off to follow their own stars. She is also very dependable, and will often dissapear for a few days to visit the father of her cubs.

He has seen some things in his lifetime that have forever affected him as a person. When he was still only a cub he witnessed his brother being eaten mostly alive by a wandering rogue-hyena, too terrified to help the brother who died protecting him. His shame drove him away from home, and right into Adanna's path. His days of traveling alone, in compliance with the traumatic events of his childhood have left Nukta a bit underdeveloped in certain aspects. He has a difficult time admitting and discussing his problems and fears. He's also very protective over his loved ones.

Ada can sometimes be seen as the classic tomboy. She loves to rough house, compete, explore, and stay active. She has a sharp tongue and a rather bad temper, so some people might get the wrong impression when first meeting her. However, despite her teasing and arrogant remarks, she really cares strongly about others, even if she has a funny way of showing it. She's also rather brave, depending on the situation. A descendant of the Dawnwalkers Rumbidzai and Jelani.

A good natured cub who loves a good joke and never seems to really take anything seriously. This is only a cover, because really he is quite passionate about everyone he meets and everything he sees, he just “doesn’t want to make a big thing out of it”. Ilori tends to be a bit on the slacker side, but when called on (or out of other options) he can be a lion of action who isn’t afraid to take command of tricky situations. Ilori grew up traveling with his parents and twin brother, going from place to place and never stopping for long

Angaa is very close with her brother, and as a cub tends to look after him as if she was older and wiser. Now Aleu lives without any regret in her life and always seems to be smiling. Aleu also enjoys hunting.

Badru is one of the few surviving members of the original Dawnwalker clan, one of the famed huntress Lesedi's sons. He's easily led, tending to follow what everyone else around him does. Having spent time at the Temple when young, Badru has tried to keep Dawnwalker traditions going within the small group he travels with. His knowledge of ritual is incomplete, since the clan's fall came before he was able to fully understand and remember everything. When Muroki first tried to bring the clan back, Badru had wanted to stay, but Lesadi's illness forced him to return to their previous home. He'd support any effort to bring the clan back to life.

He is very sweet and kind. He may not be the brightest sometimes, he isn't really aware of his size and strength either yet, as his mind is still juvenile. Kigao is not the leader type but once you got his trust he is very loyal and would never let a loved one or a friend down. He is a social lion but he doesn't have to be in the center he just hope that others will like and accept him. Kigao's mother left him all alone in the world after the pride leader got killed (Kigao's real father), as she didn't want him killed and took a risk by leaving him. Kigao was then found by Muroki and was raised by him for a while.

Kainda - hunter's daughter
Bonded to Muroki
Her mother, Akinyi, was destined to be Muroki's bonded - carrying on the tradition between the two families. However, during the downfall, Akinyi grew up hidden away in a maned wolf territory near the Chione. She's raised many pups and this daughter will be the last. Nutured on stories of the Clan, Kainda was raised to take Akinyi's place at Muroki's side. Their bond is strong and Kainda is happy helping out.
